  1. Huh?? When the ERL was built, didn't they think of this problem?
  2. Singapore Airlines is not God, they aren't immune to the market driven slump as proven last by the SARS pandemic. It is only a matter of time they get hit and how stable is your foundation will buy you time in relative terms.
  3. The present 777 service to PER is a joke la. It is the SR series with the regional config. At least with the A330s, you will know it is a regional aircraft and the interior will have the "upgraded" regional Business Class.
  4. Oi... you got something against the A330s is it?
  5. Amazing collection... I myself have several ranging from 1999-2006. I have since stopped collecting them already.
  6. Air Asia is not growing too fast too soon. They are presently riding a wave as more travellers (especially the ones in Malaysia) get more disillusioned by the services offered by full serviced carriers. If there was a time for AK and gang to grow, it would be now, lose momentum and all will be gone. Don't forget that AK is not MH, where the latter would deliberate for donkey years before coming to a decision (which most likely others would have gone ahead years ago) AK as far as I see is a commercially driven go-getter. Good on AK, good on the economy. Whatever it is, AK will end up the winner because if MAHB wakes up, they get a proper LCCT. If MAHB decides to drag their feet some more, they will still get KLIA East LCCT. Like I have mentioned earlier, this is a slap to the government. Very embarassing. If I were the peeps in Putrajaya, I would be tripping over myself to try and consolidate KLIA rather than let a good resource go to waste.
  7. Izanee... I feel for you. That being said, it is no wonder a lot of Msians make there way down here to work. When I was in school (was trained as an engineer by the way), 3/4 of my class was Msians. And they always scored way better than us Sporeans and one day the lecturer was so incensed he gave it to us proper... That the Indian and Malaysian students are hardworking, and us Sporeans are lazy. Hahahahaha... That lecture made us wise up a wee bit though.
  8. The callsign change could not have come any sooner. Much better, more garang... Before that they were known as "STRIPES"! Wtf?!
  9. First there was Putrajaya - political enclave... Then there was Cyberjaya - multimedia corridor... So now you will have Terbangjaya(!!!) - Melaka, Labu, LCCT and KLIA!
  10. Lovely.... RM0.99 is the basic fee Walk through the door - RM10.00 cover charge per head Aircon charge - RM10.00 per head Boarding slips - RM5.00 per head Boarding announcement - RM5.00 per annoucement Chairs in the terminal - RM0.05 per chair To sit on them - RM 2.00 per 20 min block Trash bin maintenance - RM10.00 per head To use them - RM0.10 activated by coin slot to open the bin Immigration - RM10.00 per chop I pening already... You go add up the charges.
  11. Exactly... no clear direction. And hopefully this is TF's way of reverse psychology he is playing to get things to go his way within the relms of MAHB. If not, he will have one brand new airport to call his own. If MAHB gets the hint, this won't happen. My fingers are crossed.... KLIA has enough space for expansion and it is whether they want to do it or not.
  12. If you read into this correctly, this "new" airport would be privately funded and run. This could be a sign that AK has had enough of the feet dragging with MAHB and the like that he now wants to develop HIS own little city in Labu? A slap in the face, no doubt, for the government peeps?
  13. Nice photos Joe... It just occured to me how tinted my photos are as they were taken from within the terminal.
  14. In the present fuel price sensitive environment, I do not think the 744s will have a future in MH's fleet. But I am more curious to see how will MH deploy the A380s (6 some more). It cannot be a one for one replacement because of the difference in capacity. Will the densest of the densest route able to support the A380?
  15. Flew out from Changi on 11 Dec and managed to capture these...
  16. Hahahahaha ... hah lau... Jalan Cempaka is waaaay better than Tanjong Aru but it will be gone soon if I am not wrong. I got chased away by security (I assume he was) in a Pajero after a while but I still managed to be there for quite a substantial amount of time. I see a lot of works going on where I was and I think they are extending the taxiway, perhaps? Makes no sense for plane to wait at the threshold of rwy 02 while the plane that just landed takes a while to vacate after u-turning (or they skip over the the LCCT before crossing the runway again). I love KK airport... did I mention that?
  17. I was actually quite surprised with the volume of traffic! I mean it was constantly MAS 737s and MH-Wings... But at least they were in constant motion! Hahahaha... Let's just say that I returned to Singapore with a nice tan. A very painful tan...
  18. Dear MW-ers, after looking at ALL the fantastic photos on this thread, it became one of my reasons to make a trip to KK to sniff out the spotting locations. Google Map was of GREAT help to look for these roads although my fingers were very much crossed hoping they were still valid... Seeing how my hotel at WARISAN SQUARE was still a plot of empty land, and that 1BORNEO was still forest. So here we go. JALAN CEMPAKA I made my way to Jalan Cempaka first. Lots of construction at the edge as I think there are building more taxiways and the refurbishment of the old airport terminal. KA A320 from HKG. This was what greeted me as soon as I drove in. I almost drive the car into the longkang at the excitement of seeing a taxiing aircraft so close by! The sights continued with an MI A319 from where else but SIN. I had the intention of flying to Lahad Datu on M-Wings just for the heck of it but somehow I was so occupied in KK I never got around to it. More M-Wings. It was pure delight to finally see this airline in its flesh. The livery is pure and simple, really pleasing to the eyes. I flew in on 9M-MQC the day before and here we meet again. The FO was really friendly and he gave a wave... One of us, perhaps? The highlight of my afternoon, the 777-200. The heat haze was a nuisance though... It gave a roar to the LCCT AK terminal before snobbishly turning away. Here it is again, I can almost touch the wingtips. Returned on another evening to find the lighting conditions not too ideal. Managed to catch this stranger. I think the MH 737 was also curious... I was standing over the drain for the longest time... so engrossed by the sights that I didn't even realised what was beneathed me... YIKES! TANJUNG ARU Ok, here was another area I tried out but depending on the time of the day, I much preferred the other location. Nevertheless, here are my captured shots... I sneaked past the fence otherwise there were too many obstructions. More MH 737s... I was honestly wishing there was more variety at this point. Hahahaha. And there she goes... there she goes again... MY RIDES So how did I get to these places? I don't think public transportation would have brought me there so... ... I did a Perodua Myvi! Excellent car to drive although the interior was too plasticky for my liking. How can a visit to Malaysia be complete without driving the Saga? I loved the sound of the engine, lots of grunt and sounded eager to please. But performance was left much to be desired and seemed a tad underpowered with all that grunt. Also the balance of the car wasn't all that good. FINALLY... BC TAM... Thank you for the ngau chap. I will be back in KK before you know it. Cheers Ryan
  19. That is nice... Bear in mind this is the tropics... In between the monsoons we have convectional rains so we can never get away from those irritating storms. PLEASE do PM me closer to your date I will definitely be more than glad to take you guys out there. Ryan
  20. Wie ghetz Jens! Like I mentioned, the SAFRA Beach Club is only accessible by car. You would need someone to DRIVE you there so give me a PM closer to the date and if I am not travelling during that period, I will more than glad to take you there in the evenings to watch the arrival traffic for 02C. Plus I will also take you to Changi Business Park to watch the arrivals on 02L, also another location accessible only by car. Bear in mind the weather for Feb is still rather turbulent as it is just about the tail end of the NE Monsoon so you will have drastically shifting weather patterns of sunny one minute, dark and showering the next. Or on some days it is even a washout of constant rain and wind. We? Hmm... Whose "we"? Ryan
  21. The fact is that you are 18 an you have a CREDIT CARD? What is this world coming to nowadays... *faint* I have to keep reminding people what an LCC is. You pay cheap, you get cheap. RM450-490 is only what... RM40.00 difference? SGD16.00? USD10.00??? I mean .. COME ON! LCC LCC LCC... Now repeat after me... L C C... People bitch about not being able to call into the hotline blah blah blah but BE GLAD THERE IS EVEN A CALL CENTER TO BEGIN WITH. All these are additional costs to the airline and it is not cheap running a call center with operators, add on to that operators who can tolerate constant bitching from customers about why they being charged this and that... In short customers who do not get the concept of what an LCC is. LCC gives you the option of doing away with frills you do not need. Only a day trip no check in luggage? Shave off SGD15.00. No preferred seating needed? Shave off another SGD20.00. Hate airline food and do not want to pay for what they are serving you coz you dont eat it anyway? Shave off some more $$$ since you won't partake in the BOB. So all these little costs adds up at the end of the day. So before anyone starts another tirade about why TR is this, AK is that and 3K what the hell (???)... think again about WHAT IS THE CONCEPT of an LCC. If you still feel like letting go about how the airline cheated you, go back to MAS where you can have your frills all thrown at you whether you want it or not, 5-star style. Seriously everyone, I think a reality check is long overdue.
  22. And why not? I have flown TR several times to Hanoi, HCMC, Bangkok. Phuket... Assigned seating, meals served in a snack box, friendly FAs, single aisle so what is the difference from a MAS 737?
  23. Tsk tsk tsk... Jibes jibes nothing but jibes. When AK first became AK (not referring to that sad case of an airline by HICOM), everyone laughed at them too. I admit I was one of them. But look at where they are today?! Not only you have AK, but you also have D7, FD and QZ too. It all started with a dream and I know TF felt the heat as well but that did not stop him from charging full steam ahead spearheading something which we never thought would work in Asia - an LCC. So I suggest we all let AK and gang do their own stuff because they are not going anywhere in the near, or distant future. 400+mill lost? Which airline is not reeling frm the effects of the present global climate? Well, as funny as i thought this piece of news was, never say never. Nothing is forever. SQ has been jibed and snubbed by high horses on several occassions but that doesn't mean they have to respond to every one of them. I am sure the heads are smart enough to know this was all tongue-in-cheek and not some slanderous lash.
  24. 6 Dec 2008 The weather was pretty f888ed up this evening at about 5.30pm. Not only did I not manage to capture much, it started to pour heavily at Changi Business Park. Catching the last bits of sun rays before the stormy Cu enveloped the skies. I will never learn how to capture a 777-300 or an A346 in flight. So damn long...
