  1. I'd agree that they've done their sums and arrived at this decision, right or wrong, time will tell, as you say. I make my statements not on the basis of whatever profit/revenue assumptions they make, but purely on my own observations, which center around passenger experience. Me talking about revenue, yield, fleet utilisation or whatever financial metric airlines use internally is the same as me talking about peeing standing up - I lack neither the knowledge nor experience to definitively comment on that. Out of necessity, many regular CX pax are also regular KA pax. They're not mutually exclusive. From what I've seen on this thread alone, whichever side of the fence you sit on, whether for or against this move, opinions posted have been based on actual experience with both airlines. Like in any forum, whilst one can disagree/agree with statements made, I can appreciate the diversity of opinions. Ergo - you've already heard from the KA pax.
  2. Your assumption that every time one of "these" persons flies, starts and ends the journey in HKG is flawed. After a 15:50 JFK-HKG, some of "these" people want to continue sleeping. The option is there today, it will not be there tomorrow. Even if the journey started and ended in Hong Kong, if the seat was there for the taking, why shun it? I fail to see why body types have got anything to do with preferences, and by that virtue, I fail to see why a properly written argument as to WHY not having cirrus is a loss would attract scorn on a.net or any forum for that matter. Of course, if a post was driven by emotion and or insults without basis, then yes, I can see how one would get called names. I'm thinking these insults don't happen on MW right? It is after all you who point out the "more forgiving" nature here.....
  3. Very likely I think. Current pace is more or less in line with what they've said they'd do.
  4. It's not about the low costness. There are little touches - that CX does, that KA doesn't. They lack the polish and flair of CX. That said, of course, KA is no LCC, but I've not seen anyone here say it is. Low Cost? No. Lower Quality? Yes. I do an average of 35-40 CX/KA legs a year, and comparing only the shorthauls (as KA doesn't do longhaul, so the comparison would be unfair) - the difference to me is quite marked. YMMV.
  5. Yes, you are right... but the point some are trying to make with regards to inferior hard product is that on some flights, with careful selection, it is possible to get a 33E or 33K config with CX. That won't be possible with KA, unless as a matter of rotation they're planning to send the 3 class 33R with cirrus which they sell as F, and opening up those seats for pax as J.
  6. Pretty liberal (read: ridiculous) in my company on how they justify flights (read: lame excuses). To be frank, nobody needs a flat bed for 3 1/2 hour flight.. and SQ is pretty expensive. It certainly was/is hard to justify but with this it will be good enough an excuse now to fly down south to SIN and back up if they so choose. I just need to learn bluff like the boys. So no... at least for the few of my colleagues clever enough to BS - the winner isn't actually MH
  7. Inferior hard product- the cirrus J seat is nominally sold as "First" and the regional PEY J seat is sold as "business" Bye bye ! That's me and about 12-15 other monthly J fares that may end up elsewhere now Nice move CX yes
  8. Does that include the credit card processing fee ?
  9. Definitely. Maybe a 100 frame order, each with a 6-8 suite F cabin with closing doors, J with lie flats in a 1-1 config and Y with 38 inch pitch, internet, PTV, and all with yields to match. Look out AA! Your days are numbered!
  10. BA's 318 has precisely 32 seats. But you knew that yields will be even Betterer and more super ! 😝
  11. Yep. Maybe they can fool the public. Real frequent flyers never use it as a benchmark. Period. I've had dealings with them.. and let's just say "cukuplah... sekali" to quote the old Jay Jay song.
  12. The KL809/810 and BR227/228 conundrum you mention isn't random substitutions. They're all scheduled.
  13. That one is pretty good. I think you can even redeem AA merchandise like model planes and lanyards/caps and stuff. Tan Sri TF knows how to market stuff! Belum cuba belum tau right? I don't know FFP's very well, but when I get the chance I'm going to check out Ashley's suggestions below - admittedly I've never heard of them but then maybe it's those obscure ones that are best!
  14. Why so many No? I don't like this program already. So unfriendly.
  15. I think eBay got plenty. Just don't really see many Air Asia kits. Maybe they're highly sought after ?
  16. I doubt it. Maybe a longer flight like LAX-SEA/LAX-DEN will, but for medium haul like LAX-SFO i have my doubts.
  17. For the benefit of those who may want to know : the refurb fleet stands at 7 now. Easily remembered as ABC JILO
  18. The conundrum is tricky: but as long as it is MH coded, MH operated, and so long as MH is a member of oneworld - then the standard benefits have got to apply. The way around it is of course like you say - "firefly jet". The closest analog in my memory is TG and WE (thaismile) That's a good fight. Another close fight would be Coral CNX vs Al-Safwa.
  19. Because it is an integral part of the entire experience. Plaza premium KLIA2 will not do. Sorry.
  20. TYO is indeed the code to denote Tokyo, and this nomenclature is commonly used for cities with multiple airports. The basis for this is the usage in fares which allow some/all the applicable airports in that city as being acceptable "co-terminals" for departure/arrival - if the airline operates to it. A GDS query for SIN-TYO on NH will pull up both SIN-HND and SIN-NRT flights. Other commonly used coterminal cities - NYC, LON, BER.
