  1. Where is my koko crunch?? Need it to help me to digest the numbers....lolx! Thanks MAR for the very insightful analysis. God Bless, for "every RM 1 sales that MH made only generated 1.8 sen of profit versus 26.7 sen generated by AK to its stakeholders with the same RM 1 sales." (Ramli, 2011), MH is really acute in generating profit. Someone please throw them a life support machine~~~
  2. Thanks MAR for the info. So more GE CFM 56 engines?
  3. Malaysia Airlines offers front-end check-in lounge at KLIA http://asia.businesstraveller.com/asia-pacific/news/malaysia-airlines-offers-frontend-check-in-lounge
  4. 80 flights will just overkill the route..... Assuming 80 flights per day (one per 15 minutes), seats available for AK A320 180pax x 80= 14, 400 FY B738 189pax x 80= 15, 120 + MH A332 229pax x 1= 229 (one A330 flight per day, assumption) Total= 29, 749!!!! Holy Molly Lord!!! almost 30K seats available per day!! O.O
  5. MH used to be in a mess during early 90s till early 2000s...Don't say about now as I will be flamed by some MH hardcore fans in this forum. MH used to have the largest fleet of B737 in Asia. At peak it has 74 B734s with different variants, nine B735 (chubby little one) and not to forget pre-Jala's times when A330 runs some domestic trunk flights. With so many B737 to play around, how did they do flight planning previously left us baffled. Certainly they could have done hourly departure if the economic situation was right and there was demand for it but pre-AirAsia time, ticket was very expensive.
  6. Err....a bit OTT, no?? Media does like to sensationlise stories. Qantas' many cases came to mind. CX seems to have a bit brush with A330s, isn't this their second major incidents with A330s? I am glad that the flight landed safely!
  7. I can't find any thread that tracks ex Malaysia Airlines aircraft, and not to duplicate too many threads, can we include them in this thread? Here is the first one: VH-OED ex MAS B747-4H6 GE powered 9M-MHO, one of Qantas' three ugly sisters, is now being scrapped at VCV. It was one of the two B744s MH sold to Qantas during the 98 Asian Financial Crisis. VH-OEC is stored in VCV as well, its future looks bleak as well. Qantas is retiring its B744 progressively. Link: http://jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=7106447&nseq=4 Picture credit: Colin Parker of AirTeamImages. Take a bow.....So long, 9M-MHO......
  8. This is one of the best thread to get your stats, many thanks to MAR...he is the statistic analysis of MWings~~~~
  9. Power to consumers~~~ hahas!! really interesting development in our Boleh-Land!!! "For the eastern hub, our ultimate aim is to have one flight departing every hour from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur." They are gunning to be next KUL-SIN, BKK-SIN, HKG-TPE....golden routes in Asia. B747 in near future?
  10. lolx~~~ hahas!! ROFL....perhaps they can outsource it?? although it would be delusional as well.
  11. They retired 9V-SMU (the 1000th B747) during the financial period. I was lucky to board it when I did KUL-SIN-MEL last November. My first time on a B744. It was really an amazing experience!! As it was late night flight, not much pix. However, I got B744 again on my return journey due to RR A380 fiasco....but blessing in disguise...got 9V-SPN which was stored previously in VCV. Took loads of pix Agree...the aviation world is loaded with twin engines nowadays!! lets hope they hold onto A345 for next five years?? maybe??
  12. I stand corrected. TK manufacturer is Sogerma and Weber while MH is Recaro. Thanks for the correction!
  13. I just realised MH A330's new J/C class is the same as TK's new J class. However, MH lack the ottoman seat. A sample: http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/trip_reports/read.main/189398
  14. Suspension of route, not cancelled. I think its more of suspension till Oct 2011 if I am not mistaken. The flight was suspended due to the uprising in Egypt last March.
  15. Hahas!! I know~~ was just teasing MH....congrats to your friends. Its stratling MH is offering such a fare....but the taxes is another story....O.O
  16. is the booking system out of order or what???!!! GBP 301 for return flight!!!
  17. hahas!! jackch747!! I almost dropped to the floor when I did dummy booking for BWN return.....RM277 only!! Ticket prices were RM 14, others are charges and charges!!! O.O....wahahahas!!!
  18. Thanks Geoff for the update. May those perished RIP. Unfortunately, among the airlines in the list you have given, only GA and QZ are reliable and have vast networks. Metro Batavia is also a safe bet. Air Fast Indonesia has a small fleet only and not sure where they fly to. I think their main market is oil drilling ad-hoc charter. Mandala went bankrupt last year. Haven't heard of Ekspres Transportasi Antarabenua as well.
  19. 15 dead reported of 27. May they rest in peace and bless their souls. For the family, the grieving begins. Preliminary cause maybe bad weather. http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2011/05/07/merpati-plane-crashed-due-bad-weather.html Just 500m short of runway.....
  20. The Nasi Bryani got more spice-er.....100ml water is not enough to quench the spicyness....
  21. Virgin Blue gets a new name http://www.theage.com.au/travel/travel-news/virgin-blue-gets-a-new-name-20110504-1e7ku.html ........"one of the worst-kept secrets in Australian aviation."
