  1. Agree. What a short life indeed! How may Thai airlines have we seen over the past few years? Currently Operating Air People International- Cargo only K-Mile Air- Cargo only Bangkok Airways Business Air- charter flight Kan Air Nok Air Orient Thai Airlines SGA Airlines Thai AirAsia Thai Airways International Thai Smile Jet Asia Airways- charter flight Yet to commence operation after multiple false start date Happy Airways Solar Air Sunny Airways U airlines (rebranded from Crystal Thai Airlines which never start operation) Defunct Air Andaman Air Phoenix Angel Airlines Destination Air Shuttle PB Air P.C. Air Phuket Air Skystar Airways
  2. We heard of story that IT cannibalised some aircraft to keep others flying. Not sure if they are true to A330. There are two young A320s torn apart bits by bits to keep other flying. I don't think it will be wise for MH to lease them as they are RR powered, MH's are PW powered.
  3. Hahas!! lolx~~~ Most airline in predominantly red livery are not doing well: Kingfisher, Air Berlin, Qantas, Air India, Air Malta etc. The good one maybe our very own AirAsia . It seems weird no one picks up their A330 even when they are the 'most grandest' A330 ever built. KF A330 has been in storage since it canned its int'l operation last March. Three A330-223 (VT-VJK, VJO, VJP) are currently stored at Zurich with no engines. Two at Bordeaux,France (VT-VJL and VJN). VT-VJL has been painted in Arik Air colour but yet to be delivered as the latter itself has suspended operation currently. :help: Another nail in coffin: Airports Authority of India won't let lessors take Kingfisher Airlines planes: http://timesofindia....ow/16909039.cms
  4. Yeap, you are correct. The initial leased in bird A330-301 9M-XAA is equipped with 300kN CF-80E1A2 engines. AirAsia own A330-343E uses 320kN RR Trent 772B extended range and enhanced flight deck version. The new A330-202 is equipped with 311kN CF-80E1A4, the 4th generation GE CF- family engines. One would wonder why they do so, based on the stats, GE gives more thrust in taking off. RR is better in cruising and inflight mode. And you have all the political links when ex-Trade Minister is in the picture..... In actual fact, both QF and JQ A330 use GE engines. The QF family is a fan of GE and RR. I won't be surprised if QF adds another few more GE A330 to JQ since Alan Joyce is killing QF's int'l operation and handover to JQ...... :diablo:
  5. Yes, like what Tamizi has stated D7 A330-202 are equipped witth GE powerplant. The agreement was signed between Tony Fernandes and GE boss in front of Rafidah Aziz. There was a big hu-ha in media of how 'capable' of Rafidah in 'pulling her links' in persuading D7 and GE in signing the agreement. GE A330-202 is quite an orphan. Only few airlines use them. GA A330-243 is currently equipped with RR Trent, would be interesting if they add in GE.
  6. IT's order for 5 A350, 5 A380 (+5 options) and 67 A320 are gone with the wind......lolx
  7. Oh my.......2005? What was I typing? This will be second A330 to be scrapped.....Poor bird!
  8. Malaysia Airlines A330-322 9M-MKD Manufacturer series: cn 073. First delivered: 24/03/1995 Configuration C 44, Y 250 Ferried 15/10/2012 Subang Airport to New Chitose Airport, Japan. Onwards to Portland Int'l Airport, USA. Currently stored at Tupelo Regional Airport for part-out and scrap.
  9. We call them 'boutique airline'.........lolx!
  10. They're scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Those who are looking for bargain tickets and do not mind posh amenities. V8- BLD and V8-BLE were the first two B777-200ER to be delivered to BI. Now back in mainline SQ's service. SQ itself is offloading B772ER to Scoot to expand China and Australia, in turn, effectively killing off RBA slowly. Now with four remaining B772ER left, two are rotate between BWN-MEL, two for BWN-DXB-LHR. No room for going tech. They should have lease A330 back then, which fits their usage perfectly. Nonetheless A330 was hard to come by then, so RBA's then ex-SQ senior manager engineered the deal to lease 6 B772ER. On a more positive note, BI will be first one to fly B787 in South East Asia. Not bad for a small carrier. Had seen the draft interior pix before, it looks quite normal......a bit disappointing. Not sure if they've changed the layout and design. Hopefully they do!
  11. Uncle Tony latest facebook status: "Airasia have pulled out of Batavia acquisition to focus management time on organic growth. But we will still colloborate with Batavia. A good win win. We have learnt a tremendous amount and feel very confident that we will be a market leader in Indonesia. New distribution system gone in.We will now push ahead with Airasia Indonesia IPO following the very successful IPO of Airasia Thailand." as of 9.46am today
  12. I remember that show, VIjay Mallya bought one A319CJ for personal use. I think its National Geographic "Giant of the Skies".
  13. What an intersting development in aviation history nowadays: QR (OW) + BA (OW) EK (unaligned) + QF (OW) EY (unaligned) + AFKL/AZ (ST) + AB (OW). And BA is sponsoring QR's entry to OW........Now how do we see EK+QF alliance? OW lost KF, gain QR. Now if we can push EY into Star Alliance.......
  14. Agree with you. MH can for sure work out a favourable financial terms in leasing the B772ER. MH needs to move fast in refubishing the B772ER, ME airlines are killing every airlines almost everyday.....
  15. MH is the only airline who thinks B772ER is less fuel efficient now, much like AI blaming B777 family for loss. A33E to Europe and NZ is a bit pushing A33E's limit. B772ER would do the job perfectly. Since we will almost never see MH's livery on B773ER, I think a refurbishment is much cost effective than buying new planes.
  16. MH retains all their seats in their plane even if it is sold to other company. World Airways has few BCF with MH's J class seats on upper deck. Strip out F, J and Y class, keep some J seats, others all thrown away. The only airline that destroy their seats after retirement is SQ. Their B747-400 F class were removed and destroyed to avoid others getting onto their 'intellectual property'. J class was quite generic therefore was kept. The lady, the orang putih behind and the guy next to him most probably are Honolulu Ramp staff......
  17. 9M-MPD went Al-Wafeer as HZ-AWA3, was repainted to Tabung Haji + MAS' swoosh livery title, now with Eaglexpress as 9M-MPD. 9M-MPJ went Al-Wafeer as HZ-AWA2, was repainted into Saudi Arabian livery, re-registered as TF-AAD for Air Atlanta Icelandic. 9M-MPI went Al-Wafeer as HZ-AWA1, was repainted into Saudi Arabian livery, re-registered as TF-AAE for Air Atlanta Icelandic. None of the the Al Wafeer plane was painted back to MAS' cheatline livery as far as I know, but I am open to correction. Here is a rare picture of all three Al Wafeer B744 together at Jeddah Airport: http://www.airteamimages.com/boeing-747_HZ-AWA1_alwafeer-air_101260.html
  18. 9M-MHN Malacca 27-09-1990 VH-OEC (Stored at VCV) 9M-MHO Alor Setar 10-06-1991 VH-OED (Stored at VCV) Thanks Cheng Kit for the list. Both VH-OEC and VH-OED had been scrapped as of last year. Now Cola-Cola cans.......I think 9M-MPB and 9M-MPO might be the next two to be flown to Roswell.
  19. 9M-MPF has arrived at Roswell Industrial Airport. Judging from majority of aircraft going there, getting out would be near impossible. It was spotted at Honolulu yesterday (1st Oct, Honolulu time): http://hnlrarebirds.blogspot.com/search/label/Malaysia%20Airlines Goodbye 9M-MPF! You have served us well!
  20. Japan Airlines has rolled out all new interiors with the delivery of latest B777-346ER. One word: WOW! http://www.jal.co.jp/newsky/ss7/first/
  21. Yeap, good to see more variety of aircraft at KLIA. The initial batch of B787 has been finalised. Lion Air is getting the first five B787 of production line which are overweight. ANA, Air India, Continental and Ethiopian Airlines rejected such aircraft. Transaero Airlines is also getting some overweight B787 as well.
  22. A very good development for Malaysia aviation industry. However, DCA should approach the issue with cautious as EU has not remove Lion Air from list of blacklisted airlines yet. Moreover, every now and then we heard of safety lapses from Lion Air. On a more positive note, they will operate the fist B787, making them ahead of MH! LOLX! I just got to say it....... same time as AirAsia getting their first A350. Lets hope A350 won't face any major delay. I am not really drawn to Lion Air. My colleagues hate Lion Air due to the REALLY tight seat pitch. 28" or 29" I think. Seats literally has no cushion at all. It was a torturous two hours flight from Jakarta. I wonder how does the involvement of NADI will contribute to low cost base? Maintenance?
  23. AirAsia Group accelerates delivery of 13 A320 for this year. Most of them will be based on AirAsia Philippines, AirAsia Indonesia, Batavia Air and AirAsia Japan. Moreover, Thai AirAsia had moved their operation to Don Mueang International Airport, allowing for space for growth. The future is bright with AirAsia Group. If they are to confirm the latest A320ceo order, they will have 375 A320 on order. That's double of any legacy SEA airlines' fleet.
  24. Hahas!! Bukan no balls, better don't jump into jet operation again. MH Group will go bankrupt...The whole drama will be re-broadcast to whole world~~~
  25. Former Malaysia Airlines B737-4H6 9M-MMM Delivered to MH on 08/01/1993, onwards to Bank of Utah 21/02/2012 N146PA Ferried on 27/08/2012 Balboa, Panama to Miami International Airport. Source: Skyliner-aviation.de, planespotters.net
