  1. It is unfortunate that whilst some of us adore MH, MH doesn't want us to be excited about it, or talk about it... perhaps angry even. Oh well...
  2. Why blue on white for the jawi? Looks good. :-) although the 40th anniversary logo is unnecessary in my opinion.
  3. Interesting that AK now uses MH's original registration for the first batch of 737-200s, at a time when MH is doing a retro livery. I wonder why MH changed the AQ_ series to MB_ series at that time.
  4. Beautiful. Maybe asking too much but wonder if MAS will serve inflight meals or refreshments of the type and portion as they did way back then? Current travellers will know how much has changed over the years. To make it even a more retro experience, there should be retro safety cards, crockery and cutlery etc. And FA uniforms! Nevermind. Just take us back to the good old days of golden service :-)
  5. I think quietely the person who's behind the blogs fly Air Asia from time to time :-D . He / she should also criticize Air Asia's millions of guests who are behind its success because they chose to fly with them.
  6. I was looking forward to enjoy the beach in Mukah when I first visited some years ago. What greeted me was brownish water and countless broken logs and other rubbish obviously due to logging activities. What a letdown. After visiting all of the major towns and cities in Sarawak, I have come to conclude there is not much to see or do in Sarawak. I returned only to visit friends and get some Bario and other exotic looking rice.
  7. Great wheel shots. Reminds me of Nikon FM2 brochure back then when Nikon came up with 1/4000 shutter speed using honeycomb titanium shutter curtains
  8. No idea. Friend is with MAS so dont want to put him in difficulty divulging info.. you know much of the airline business is shrouded in secrecy :-) He did say it took some 2 hours for MAS to finally decide it is a no go, and pax were left in the dark all the while. Maybe someone would like to catch her at 1515 as Mushrif informed. First daytime flight to London...
  9. A380 AOG tonight? Friend has got meal vouchers (BK) and heading for hotel!
  10. It is not easy to keep our military assets secret when just about everything is bought from foreign countries.... Not that we make anything ourselves.
  11. Thanks for sharing. The interior looks fabulous!
  12. You might want to get a polarizer filter to cancel out those reflections :-) . Nice pics BTW.
  13. OT but related to BKI and shopping. I once spoke to a senior staff of MAHB and he asked me what was my opinion of the old terminal pre-renovations and I said there were very few seats for transiting passengers to rest. He said it was deliberate as it forces people to be on their feet and do some shopping while waiting for the flight to depart! Wonder how it is now? Haven't been to BKI for some years now already.
  14. There is a model of the plane complete with "Kota Bharu" and 9M-MPF at MAS ticket office KL Sentral.
  15. Hope they make it the original livery like on the AQ... series, in particular the cheat lines.
  16. There are a few sellers of aircraft parts on ebay. Saw a 727 door and side panels complete with windows for sale some time back. I guess they have access to broken up airplanes at the aircraft graveyard. Also instruments of B52 but these are not for sale outside the US. Sad to see mpf leaving. Last was on it as MH 007 PEN-KUL. If only it could speak and say goodbye to its home...
  17. They are more than mere pirates... So much so that many islands in Sabah has to station security personnel. Mabul has a PGA post and I saw the police patrolling the beach on boats complete with M16 rifles, and marinepolice in high powered boat along the way to Mabul. Nice place by the way...
  18. I suppose pirates will be lying low while the carrier is around...
  19. Looking at pictures I believe upper deck 747 emergency exit swings upwards, but how it is unlatched and how one starts to open it I'm not sure. But I like the way plug type doors on Boeing open....pull a bit in and then push out. Assuring to note Sung's explanation. But main doors too can be misused by crazy people like the case of Air Asia. Luckily it was still on the ground.
  20. I wonder if it can be opened as well. I understand the plug type like those on 737s non-ng cannot be opened due to cabin pressure as it has to be pulled inwards first. The NG series opens outwards, and many planes open outwards as well. Going back to the plug type, when below 10,000 feet when pressure is low, can one open it with some force? We dont want to be in a flight with crazy people or those with suicidal tendencies!
  21. Not the Skyhawks. I mean the BAe Hawks. Maybe they are not as glamorous as SU30s or Hornets, but they should be of use in the defense of the country...
  22. Little is heard of the Hawk. What role does it play in TUDM's fleet? It rarely appears even in air shows such as LIMA...
  23. Time for some free seats available tonight (today with BIG Visa card)
  24. Wonder why they seek to somewhat destroy a successful Malaysian company that has made the country proud (going by the choice of words in the press articles). And the gomen also has a hand in it. And like as if MH will not be affected at all by this JV. AK / D7 has enabled people to travel far and wide at reasonable cost, something they wouldn't have imagined they could years ago.
