  1. Downing bottles of Dom, then 'tapau-ing' caviar and bottles of Dom yet again. Can someone vouch for the authenticity of this rumour?
  2. That's why anyone not up to the job should get the chop! (I'm NOT talking about you, Captain Nik, in all honesty. It is just a general comment about any job, so please don't take to heart)
  3. unfortunately during peak holiday season prior to CNY, 2.5h will get u from KL to Seremban if you're lucky... been caught in massive jam leading towards Sg Besi toll plaza, 2 hours to clear...
  4. Tried to book a Firefly JHB-SZB ticket today and found that JHB does not exist anymore in the booking system. Made a call to call centre and got confirmation that this route got the chop yesterday. Major problem now with a JHB-SZB flight that I booked for on 11th Feb, just after Chinese New Year. Told that the ONLY option is full refund, no alternative arrangement will be made. Had previously booked MH KUL-JHB flight for 31st Jan. Stupidly thought I would love to try the Fokker again since my last experience with it was way back in 1998 in Sarawak, and found flying it very nice, like 'romance of travel', to borrow SQ's tagline, thus booked for the 11th Feb flight. Had this silly sepia tinged vision of me climbing the little staircase into the aircraft, begloved, in a hat, with a leather holdall.... Was also told that FY have not contacted me yet, as there is a procedure to follow, and would have done so AT LEAST 2 weeks before scheduled flight, by which time it would be very difficult to find alternative travel arrangement due to peak holiday season. And of course, the refund process will take one month according to SOP. Looks like will have to use AK for return leg, despite the morning single flight which does not suit me well. It is more as a show of defiance against MH and FY..... never again FY, it's a case of zero time too many! Messed up my first booking itself! Other travellers on this route please bewarned and make alternative travel arrangement ASAP
  5. Why not? Surely 7 (you've mis-counted the number of connections) legendary and delightful sawdust 'sand-wic' boxes will beat 2 traditional meals hands down. No?
  6. SQ will be doing 4 flights a day to Sydney soon - one A380, 2 747s and one 777W.... rejoice rejoice!
  7. After reading this thread, I wrote to MAS highlighting some problem on board a recent flight. Got an e-mail reply yesterday (within a few days) - with the promise of rectifying the problem and surprise surprise, 10 000 bonus Enrich miles. I am however unable to divulge further the problem due to its confidential nature, suffice to mention that it was an on board medical emergency. The way the crew handled the incidence was a resounding reassurance that MH crew is still the best. Kudos MH crew!
  8. Correct me if I am wrong, but the booking engine is back to the old one today!
  9. In today's NST: "MAHB misses payment restructuring deadline MAHB has missed a December 31 deadline to restructure its RM856.7 million concession payments to the government...." unable to find article online at the moment, go get a hardcopy if you're interested. Makes one wonder...
  10. I hope this is only temporary. Yesterday, the website only allow ticket collection from its offices around the country, with no e-ticket option. It is vice versa today. And, the the prompt "You must select either Availabilty Search or Best Fare Search" is still present if you do not click the Availability? button...
  11. Had the legendary sawdust 'sand-wic' on KUL-SIN F last week. 2 days later was served Y meal masquerading as C on BKI-KUL. Except for an extra roll of bread and C cutlery, everything else was previous Y hot meal. I just wonder how long passengers are going to tolerate this kind of 'MH hospitality' as they head for the highest ever profit year.
  12. Pringles, muffin, cheese and crackers - killer combo for dietician, not a single fibre... Had said finger 'sand-wic' served on a plate on KUL-PEN return (C class) last weekend. Tasted like sand.. or maybe sand-paper.. actually felt embarassed for FS for serving such 'delightful' and 'wholesome' food to passengers. Food in PEN Golden Lounge also tasted like sand.... I give up and rest my case
  13. Must apologize for being able to join Terry and Azizul in GC - with 10 other family members in tow, it was difficult to plan for anything individual...
  14. Just back from KUL-SIN-BNE return on SQ economy class. Sad to say, MH's service is nowhere near SQ, despite not receiving AVOD on outward bound flight. Letting go of MH seemed so easy now (except for company sponsored and domestic trips)...
  15. I thought MH was lobbying hard for ST membership? What went wrong? Having been shunned, now changing the tune to appear as if MH is above joining any Alliance at the moment.
  16. OT - I remember reading somewhere that Ryanair had taken out backseat pockets and window blinds to reduce aircraft weight. Anyone can confirm this?
  17. Apt moniker for MH as it is. Get the name patented, you may have an unexpected windfall in future.
  18. Just make sure you keep the entry document well and remember where you kept it. It is just a piece of paper, like a receipt. Last month, had sweat inducing moments when failed to find it in front of the immigration officer. Finally found it amongst other receipts. Ordeal lasted only 3 minutes, however the officer was very patient. Maybe this is a common occurence? Sometimes the safest place is the one that is most easily forgotten.
  19. Keith, can you confirm this? If yes, KrisFlyer is definitely worth joining, although I heard that it is even more stingy than Enrich.
  20. Care to divulge further detail of the rumours? After the nadir that is the meal box, anything is good news!
  21. I may be exaggerating, but it seems MH's crew is the only saving grace of this airline at the moment. The warm greeting upon boarding immediately makes one feel at home after a long period overseas.
  22. Agreed! Reason I like MWing and SQtalk over other caustic forum (you know which ones I mean) is the camaraderie and congenial atmosphere found in these forums. Let's not lose that... duck for cover in flame proof suit
  23. IJ's quoted in Malay daily Berita Harian, regarding response to snack box: "Hanya segelintir tidak berpuashati dan dalam soal ini, kami akan mengikut kehendak majoriti," katanya. Translation: "Only a small number of passengers were not satisfied and we will listen to the wishes of the majority" Questions: what was his definition of satisfied? How was this question posed to customer, in what context, what were the options available in the survey? It does sound suspicious and contradictory that if the response was so overwhelmingly good they are still undecided whether to implement it or not. Maybe it has already been decided upon, but this ongoing survey was just to pull wool over our eyes - trying to convince passengers that they are extra careful before implementing this 'best service' , benchmarked against the 'best airlines'.... revolting
  24. For some of us, the F50 experience is extremely satisfying. From the moment one step onto the tarmac, boarding via the short staircase to taking off and landing, the feeling is something quite different from jet flight. Brings back the romance of travel, to borrow SQ's tagline. When boarding, images of people dressing up, clutching leather holdall to board the F50 in the olden days kept flashing.... However, I am not so sure if the appeal holds true for the majority of passengers accustomed to the usual trappings of a jet flight.
