  1. NEO = no engine option is a new option, ha ha! Bear in mind this A330-900 would have been the A350-900 when Airbus first proposed to the airlines. Qatar and amongst others were the one who shot Airbus down for giving them an old design, the A350 was redesigned and what was abandoned previously somehow made her way to become the A330-900. What is the difference between this A330-900 to A350-900? This should be the complete replacement of the A330-300 right? And the A350-900 is taking on the B777-200ER or -200LR as a replacement? Will the A330-900 be using a derated engine of the A350-900?
  2. Actually Songshan was originally built by the Japanese colonialist as Matsuyama Aerodrome. The same Chinese characters remained by pronounced different in both countries.
  3. Thought the PLAAF would send the Y-20s in...
  4. Went to Zhuhai Air Show last weekend, saw the J-10 in action. She must be in one of them. R.I.P. J-10 Acrobatic team in action in Zhuhai 2016 https://youtu.be/ccupWpy-HQ8
  5. How long did the failed KUL-CGK-MEL flights last for? Which year was that. I vaguely remember they did that, it was quite short right?
  6. Thanks for the info. guys. O/T, I wonder if lets say an Israeli is allowed into Malaysia at all? Secondly if a person of Jewish ethnicity (not necessarily an Israeli citizen). Would he or she be frown upon if lets say if he/she is trying to set up a business in Malaysia?
  7. Well, true, the tech hub in SZ is in Nanshan district, which is relatively close to SZX airport. If you fancy to fly into HKG, you can catch a private 7 seater Toyota Alphard from HKIA's T2 all the way to Shenzhen Bay Immigration Checkpoint into Nanshan district for around HKD $250 per way. You can remained at the seat of the Toyota Alphard where crossing the immigration booths of HK and China. Wonder if their China expansion all uses B737-800... yikes!!
  8. My brother once worked for a Jewish company and they wanted to send him over to Tel Aviv. As he only has Malaysian passport, he had to apply for permission to enter. They wanted to check his family background for up to three generations, despite there is no Malay or muslim in the bloodline they insisted. Our grandparents' document are harder to get as they were not properly documented, so at the end he gave up. I don't understand what the fuss is about. I think Malaysian government did this just to please the muslim crowd, but they are known to have dealings with Israeli companies anyway. If it is done to protest about the Israeli's action, they might as well boycott the US altogether, as Jewish presence and business are strong there too.
  9. Not bad. Used to take this flight which departs around 9am, wake up at around 5or 6am, get ready and then bugger off to the airport at 6am or 6:30am via airport express and MTR. Check in at Hong Kong Station with check through luggage and then hop onto the Airport Express. Arrived at airport at 7am-7:15am. Plenty of time to go around. I reckon it was a very silly decision that they used the 737-8H6s for all flights to HKG. CX was very happy as they have stolen the bulk of their pax.
  10. Nice, who is the manufacturer of this new train? What will they do with the existing trains? Refurbish them or take them out of service? The airport express trains in HK are apparently older but still kept in pristine condition. I don't know why couldn't do the same with the KLIA express!
  11. Funny enough CX didn't even try to market their No. 1 777 ever built (B-HNL). Perhaps it may be a negative connotations since the aircraft is showing her age....
  12. Thanks Francis. Mostly freighters I would think! The pax 747-400 are ever dwindling in numbers. I guess one can always fly with QF and BA if 744 is still desired.
  13. Went with Sing Yew to Ritz Carlton at ICC today sitting by the window on 102th Floor to take a photo of B-HUJ, special final flight of the B747-467. The final flight crossed Victoria Harbour at 2000 ft. still quite a bit of distance from the public realm. Next year we will be sending off the A340-300E, I'd imagine the A340-300 is not as special as the B747 in the minds of CX
  14. For further information and the latest updates regarding CX8747 please visit Cathay Pacific’s official social media channel:https://www.facebook.com/cathaypacificHK For those visiting Hong Kong, the final flight will be tomorrow morning (8/10/2016)!! I am off to ICC tower tomorrow morning!
  15. Thanks for sharing Junichi. The Scimitar winglet is the same as the ones on the 737MAX, no?
  16. Anyone died? Crashed into a school. Hope the students are alright!
  17. Ah, yes, I did meet a few New Zealanders on the plane heading over to BNE. Back then the international terminal was over at the current cargo apron. Literally a huge tin shed where pax will have to disembark via stairs. Must be a good era to be a pilot during those years.
  18. Thanks Mr. Kee!! Nice photos! Didn't know VH-OJA had the oldest QF 747 seats.
  19. Air China has only 747-400 left, They have retired them too just a few days ago. Even Chinese Presidential ride, B-2472, a B747-4J6 will switch to B-2479, a B747-89L. It has been mentioned that B-2479 is under interior fit-out at the moment to eventually replace B-2472.
  20. Actually I also happened to find out that Air China had also retired their pax B747-4J6s a few days ago. With only one flying domestically. The remaining one will be retired today too. Only difference is that CA has a few of B747-8i to carry on the genes of the almighty B747. Thanks Chaity. We will surely miss the B747-400s. I am aiming to fly more of QF in the coming years to make sure I get the B747-438ER or any B747-8s out there I can find!
