Can u check with ur Source whom u got the info of the 747 that a MAS 777 (9M-MRE) has been leased to PIA too? Pieter, Apparently PIA is using their Own aircraft for the Hajj Flight and are Leasing 2 Aircraft from MH to Cover up for Mainly the European Routes.Do Correct Me if i'm Wrong. Sandeep G 1 Report post Posted November 22, 2006 Good! Extra revenue for MAS and keeps our birds flying in our colours! This must be where those 4 744s are being dispatched and hence the lower numbers listed in the "Going Places Mag"

MAS is getting somewhat needed money, but it is only wet-lease (temporary-sort of) . 17 Boeing 747-4H6 -4 ---- 13 Boeing 747-4H6 left Edited November 22, 2006 by Andrew Ong

Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted November 22, 2006 I am confused now, as MRE is a 777... So how many planes/types are leased to PK ?
Min Chun 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2006 Pieter, 2 types. As for 777 reg, it's MRE. As for 747 reg/regs, that's what Im asking for.
Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted November 22, 2006 And that's all added up to 4, so make sense now!! Min Chun, How about these 4 744's in that case ? 2 for sale, ofwhich one is 9M-MPA... 2 for PK ? (+ 777/9M-MRE, so 3 planes going to PK) ?

Sandeep G 1 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 2 744s are for sale. 1 in storage perhaps. 1 to PK. Actually, the whole "13 747-4H6" in the Going Places mag could very well be a mistake..
Andrew Ong 1 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 2 744s are for sale. 1 in storage perhaps. 1 to PK. Sandeep, which two MAS 744 is for sale? 9M-MPA is in storage-that's all I know so far right now
Raj 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 Pieter & Sanjay, Mas is currently using 2 of it's 747 for the Hajj Flights..So going place magazine is correct. So those 2 that were withdrawn are being used for the Hajj Flights. 9M-MPA is probably the one which is withdrawn or is for sale..
Sandeep G 1 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 According to this website, and noted by T. Azahan, 9M-MPA is a sold aircraft. Yes, I forgot about the hajj flights! hehehe Time for a whole lot of ground service vehicles to be painted all white specifically for those services! and we'll get plenty of Saudia midnight runs too!
