Teoh Z Yao 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2005 eh? How come so quiet one? I think I will be at the observation hill at about 1600 hrs. Ben-G *Edited at 1.43PM* correction, weather station 8413 Sorry Ben, just learned you would be spotting... Was attending unplanned conference the weekend. So, how was traffic? Azahan, get well soon and provide us with more pictures...
Benjamin Ho 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2005 No prob boss, have you seen the doc? Traffic wise, generally good... however I missed CX A330 and SIA 772 landing, still driving to the weather station when this 2 fella landed. Caught my first MH744 (Pangkor) landing though. I realized 777 taxing is SOOO much quieter compared to 744. One thing I noticed, while at first they use 14R for take off and 14L for landing, at about 1730hrs I seen 3 (could be more) MH734 landed on 14R, while 14L is still being used for landing (in other words, 14R is used for both take off and landing while 14L is also being used for landing only). Is the traffic that busy that hr until they need to use 2 runway for landing? Love the Sigma 70-300 lens... Will upload images when I got home today. T Azahan 1 Report post Posted September 26, 2005 yup, u will see on and off, mh734s will sneak in via 14R so they could get to their gates faster. look forward to viewing your uploaded images. cheers ben!
Radzi 2 Report post Posted September 26, 2005 So, they did use 14 yesterday afternoon. It was 32 in the morning when I was there. If you went to the hill yesterday, you wou've seen MRD depart about 1030. It is very rare to use both runway 14 for landing. Due to the layout of KLIA, aircraft landing on 14R will have a long way to taxi back to the terminal. However when 32 is used we sometimes ask for 32R for shorter taxi if the parking bay is odd-numbered B.
Benjamin Ho 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2005 Argh!!! I got it all wrong on the runway assignment... Yesterday afternoon take off is on 32R, Main landing is on 32L with some sneak-in via 32R.. Just re-check the runway map from AM.com last time... Sorry guys... Ben-G

Radzi 2 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 Leading edge? What is that? 8545 Leading edge is on the opposite side of the trailing edge. When spotting at the weather station we need another equipment: chainsaw to remove those pesky lamp posts.
