Ryanair: Expose of it's ugly side

Recommended Posts

In the spirit of sharing,

Found it over youtube. 48 mins undercover report, Broadband connection will have no problem of watching it coz it loads rapidly.

My gawd, I just hope our AirAsia won't happen like this especially after route handover from MAS to AK.

 :( :o  <_>

That is a great search Adrian, what a cruel way to operate an airline. They eventually claim wrong ideas from what really heppen, too bad even the workers don't want to work for them..........

I guess that is how a no frills airline works.

However, I don't think it should be generalized and made to think

that all LCC's are alike. I have been on RYANAIR flights many times

esp on the STN-DUB-STN route and I must admit that the cabin crew

are usually very tired out, esp after doing a couple of trips a day.

Once when I was on the SZG-STN flight, the crew looked so tired out that

they had eye bags and as if they were gonna fall any minute. Their hair was

undone, make up smeared and as pale as a ghost. I enquired from one of them

who was friendly enough, and she told me she had done 2 return sectors that day,

excluding the one we were both on, for a good 3 hour flight each way. Imagine the

tiring routine they had. That is not something nice at all.

I hope AK does not practice that because Malaysia has many aspiring flight attendants.

You get what you pay for, get over it. If it wasn't for such carriers, air travel would still be at ridiculously high levels we were forced to pay only a few years ago.

I'm sick of reading, oh AK made me wait ages in a line, oh I had to pay for a bottle of water, oh the legroom (on what is a bloody short flight) wasn't good. People have just come to expect so much from airlines.

I like AirAsia for the fact that they are still thoughtful (as of Feb '06) of their passengers - they used the aerobridge at KCH when it rained. :) Not sure if that happens at other stations, but it certainly can't happen at the new LCCT. :p

Well few years ago most people get pampered by the Full Serviced carriers. Hence, the effect of getting pampered brought forward to LCC. There's a lot of ways to compromise, if hate the small leg room, then do just about anything to get 1A seat, don't wanna pay for foods, bring your own small snacks, wanna drink juice, and relax with a pillow? Bring your own.

As long as they maintain good hygiene, crews in good health and attend to the disables and pregnant mothers, I'm all right with it.

But I ain't OK with a puddle of puke under my seat not getting cleaned. IPB Image

Certainly LBU and BKI aren't using Aerobridges...

I'm more concerned they maintain proper upkeep of their birds for a safe flight - just so I arrive at my intended destination in one piece. Which happens to be (or should be) the primary purpose for humans to fly, for most people anyway.

The pampering, leg room, food, drinks, frequent flyer miles etc came about from the marketing department.

Perfect advertisement for why LCCs (or at least LiarAir) should not exist. They do nothing but drag down standards of inflight service. I'd rather pay more, much more in fact, as I expect to be pampered inflight. But then again for European flights one cannot really expect much even on legacy airlines like BA. Which brings me back to the point about bringing down inflight service as the (once) full service carriers have to cut costs to compete. Or the great once grounded great unwashed masses should just stop flying...:p

Looking forward to my pre-booked lobster thermidor meal for one of my flights home (SQ227 SIN-MEL) on Saturday...:D

It's healthy to see there are people ready to pamper and others to be pampered, at the same time and place ! Isn't capitalism wonderful !!

You're right, Kandiah...moreover, it all depends on the country of registery also; Ryanair is Irish and is different to Jet2.com, a British company for instance...

Have flown lot's and lot's of Air-Berlin LCC flights recently, and they can keep-up and sometimes even better with their service of pampered airlines, like KLM...but, they're German, ofcourse...

Thank god there is still easyJet still fly to main airport instead of remote airport miles away from the city.

It's outrageous to fire/demote a pilot:

- Who are tired

- Who wish to postpone the flight for satefy and comfortable

- Who wish to give pax a drink for delayed flight

No wonder they have the routes and planes but not enough pilots to fly since Ryanair sack the good pilots and keeps the bad staff around.

Ryanair still denying everything even after it has proven on the report...

As the chinese saying; Hard mouthed duck (Hardheaded).

Isn't Ireland like the Grand Caymans of airline regos? Read somewhere that it's exceedingly easy to start up an airline there.

Keith,

Don't think Ireland has more lax rules, as compared to other EU countries, for starting new airlines; the reason you see so many Irish registrations are a lot of leasing companies are registered in Ireland, due to relaxed tax rules...a great benefit for Ryanair as well, I guess...

FR is one of the worst LCC in Europe when it comes to service...personally, I'd pay a little bit more for another LCC (like Easyjet, SkyEurope, Transavia.com, Vueling or Air-Berlin/Niki) and be treated "human", than be treated as "rubbish" on FR: you even have to pay now when checking-in hold-baggage :o

Moreover, they advertise going to Stockholm, but actually going to Skavsta, or going to Vilnius and actually fly into Kaunas, miles and miles away (and adding bus-fares to your cheap air-tickets :(

Sofar, had never had a bad experience on AK (flew KUL-BKI and v.v. and BKK-JHB-BKI and v.v.) and hope they won't change their job/attitude in the future B)

Why didn't you do BKK-BKI direct instead ? Apparently it still exists !

It will be difficult for AK to remain as it is when it grows over the next few years - so far I think Datuk TF has managed to keep a very tight reign on all aspects, hence QC has been quite consistent. But there is a limit to what one man can or is willing to oversee ................ !

Keith, you have little appreciation for the fact many people can simply not afford to fly legacy carriers. Many of these people are the ones forced to flee their homes in search of work in other places. Thanks to LCC's it is now easier, and much cheaper (something much more in their means) to get home again to VFR. Geez, being a rather prolific supported of the ALP (Australian Left Wing Party) i'm surprised you don't seem to appreciate this.

In Australia in particular, if it wasn't for DJ hitting the scene, when AN collapsed, QF would all but have a monopoly across Australia, imagine the fares! I mean just as AN collapsed, QF quoted me $1100 for a return PER-SYD! With competition this now sits at an average of $450!

i feel their 'system' or management is not working at all like AirAsia. where in AirAsia before a flight is landing, the stewardess will asking passenger to collect rubbish together.

I'm amazed that you didn't appreciate the irony in my post. And anyhoo I'm a member of the Labor Right, as opposed to the Socialist Left of the party. Go Paul Keating!

In regards to Australian domestic competition - they should just give SQ carbotage rights. ;) I was quite pleasantly surprised that I could fly SQ on a trip to Europe between CDG and MAD (when they still flew to MAD) and ZRH-MAN.

Moreover, they advertise going to Stockholm, but actually going to Skavsta, or going to Vilnius and actually fly into Kaunas, miles and miles away (and adding bus-fares to your cheap air-tickets).

Ah yes read about that. I'm surprised the program didn't feature it as that's a real sham.
