We're just in April and already we have three cases of what appears to be busting MDA on non-precision approaches.

Similarity with the San Francisco landing?

No SF landing is very different. Clear blue sky. Pilot simply forgot how to fly. This one looks like they forgot the rules.

Is it a non-precision approach?

Anyway non-precision approach on a classic aircraft (like the B734) is quite easy using the vertical speed function. On newer aircraft (B738, B777) it is even easier using the VNAV function. Just wonder what is their excuse this time.

Early reports indicated that they flew below the minimum altitude. Probably another case of poor airmanship.

Easy, they were flying something designed by the other plane maker :D

Affirm Capt. No ILS on Runway 28. And no indication so far that they were doing GNSS approach also.

Have all those electronic aids have retarded the pilots reactions to respond effectively and promptly?

Or the mental status of the pilots are still jittery due to recent air crashes?
