Azuddin 1 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 in Marana, i thought so. i wonder who will rescue this poor bird. I'm really hoping that KLM could since this one is combi and with GE engines. Azuddin
Seth K 3 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Perhaps MAS reconfigure it to freighter, could work.
Azuddin 1 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Perhaps MAS reconfigure it to freighter, could work. Make it into -400BCF (converted freighter). but MH want all the 747 to standardize with PW engine. this MHL is with GE. i don't think they want to spend more on replacing the engines. that'swhy i'm thinking that KLM is a perfect next owner or leaser. Radzi 2 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 Perhaps MAS reconfigure it to freighter, could work. It belongs to Boeing now.
Seth K 3 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 It belongs to Boeing now. Ah, just when I thought something could work out, never mind then <_>
Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 I'm really hoping that KLM could since this one is combi and with GE engines. Azuddin that'swhy i'm thinking that KLM is a perfect next owner or leaser. Azuddin KLM only has 1 more full-freighter on order; for passenger-planes, it's just 737-900, 772 and 330 on order
S V Choong 4 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 KLM can afford new planes the B747-406Fs. The 2x ex-MAS 744M belongs to Boeing for awhile but sold to Guggenheim Aviation (an aircraft leasing company). It has been sitting in the desert under the sun since 2002-03. Not too sure about the condition of it. This topic has been discussed before. The slot for converting them into B744BCF will become available in 3-4 years from now, by that time they will be really old.
Ken K. Kour 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2006 i read on Airliners.net that Air Atlanta Icelandic purchased those two B744Ms if im not mistaken.. Air Atlanta Icelandic has acquired two ex-Malaysian 747-400's. Both aircraft had been in storage recently, and had been registered N73714 ( c/n 745) and N73713 ( c/n 738). N73714 will become TF-AMM N73713 will become TF-AML http://www.airliners.net/discussions/gener...d.main/2683178/

pontius 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2006 Flew it many years ago. Good memories.
S V Choong 4 Report post Posted March 31, 2006 At least they are now being put into good use rather than sitting at the desert. It will be an irony if Air Atlanta Icelandic use them as MASKargo planes!! Imagine that
pontius 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2006 Cargo compartment at the rear was where quite a few of us joined the club. Yeah! Definitely good memories.

Bing Chu 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 What innovative and dare I say, productive, usage of the bird's cargo hold. Quite possibly resulting in excess baggage the following months ?!
pontius 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 If my log book is correct, initiation into the club occured at FL370 on a KUL-HNL flight in 1990. HNL is a lovely place, but the cargo hold beats it hands down.
