First-hand account from a KLIA-LCCT user

Recommended Posts

A friend flew to Jakarta last Friday morning, a day after opening. His observations:

Let me give a first hand review since I went to Jakarta on Friday

morn.

1. The nasi lemak they sold at the cafe near the entrance is mentah

2. No ashtray for smokers sitting outside....so main tabur aja lah

3. Check-in....not too many counters for each flight and as usual

the passengers on cheap flights are a bit kiasu

4. Departure lounge seats not enough....again kiasuism takes over

5. The convenience shop inside, the staff macam tak cukup training

(ok la, first day kot)

6. It was raining heavily, each passenger got to grab an umbrella

and walk like 300 meters to the plane. Must follow this lane painted

on the runway but not too many notice this and must be "herded" by

air asia ground staff.

7. Bottleneck on takeoff and landing or some other oprational

problems.....departure late by 1 hour.

8. Balik yesterday 10pm.....walked down airplane and 100 meters to

arrival lounge

9. Only two immigration counters for malaysians. The autopass or

auto passport readers (2) are still being installed. Saw the Iris

technician there.

10. The customs officers a bit finicky. Asked to open golf bags. The

tax free shop staff advised they are enforcing the limit on

cigarettes.

11. Came out, had to walk to the arrival area to get the taxi. Again

staff is not trained properly. Got to cross road to get to the taxi.

12. There is a RM9 bus shuttle to Sentral. The ticket is sold on the

plane. Air Asia got brains. The schedule is provided on the plane

oso.

Someone here gave idea to make extended roof to cover the plane head, so passengers don't get wet than buying those umbrellas.

At the LCC there are only 3 food outlets - Coffee Bean, Macdonald's and an Asian Food outlet owned by a well-connected company. The last-mentioned outlet had a big problem with flies:

Had the mee soup which had no taste at all - good for health, I suppose.

Road signs still not sufficient and those already there not ideally located.

Well connected heh ?

How are the prices ? Cheaper than KLIA or the same ?

I don't think it'll be hard to get rid of the flies.

Paid RM12.00 for that mee soup plus unlimited refills on any soft drink.

Not exactly low-cost. I think I can get about the same price at the MTB food court. Anyway how's the taste?

Most likely a 'new' version of pudu :)

A pricier version of Pudu as well. I don't think you need to fork out RM 12 for a bowl of Mee Soup at Pudu.

A little canteen (albeit open air / non- airconditioned) at PEN, just before the departure area, can sell a plate of mee goreng and teh ais for a total of just RM 6.

I think Asian Kitchen should install a device with UV light and 'live' wires to attract and zap those flies. Flies in a restaurant is certainly a turn-off.

Yeah......they must have got the idea from RYAN AIR......they sold STANSTED EXPRESS TICKETS onboard too.....!!!! But great move....I readin the STAR today about someone who wrote in to complain about how crappy the services at the airport were....the SKYBUS not leaving on time and all coz they are waiting for the bus to be at leats half full. If thats the case, its bad service....delays may occur for the pax, but we should give them the benefit of the doubt.

I would love to walk to 300 meters if it is on the runway... :D Are you sure?

Was there last Friday dawn. Surprisingly, it was very nice, clean, and looks good... The roads are so new and they were just so clean... But, as you all mentioned, perhaps time will tell... ;)

Negative negative negative, how the McDonalds, the taste is worldwide! You can't taste different from what you eat at other McDonald. Well, nice pixs Attan. The unlimited refill is a +++++.

About so, depending on where one's plane is parked on the tarmac. I had a great walk to the terminal from 9M-AEB which was parked on the second row of planes nearest to the terminal. Sound of aircond packs and whiffs of JetA1 were in the air.

The flight attendent announced in the aircraft for pax to disembark and walk in a group along the allocated path, and not wander around due to the presence of planes on the tarmac. No one would want to be sucked into a CFM56 now would they?

No one! :D Safety is the only concern, otherwise it would be wonderful to stand just right beside the spot where a plane touches down! ^^

An amusing read on the LCC-T, with some pictures here:

http://www.shagadelica.net/?p=312

Seriously speaking, on my using it in just its third day of operations, I think has reached its maximum capacity. The crowd was terrible.

And there they go claiming that it can handle up to 10 million passengers.
