muhd noor iskandar 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2008 okay i dont know where to ask so i'll post here. If this is in the wrong section, please alert me thanks. I was scouting the Air Asia website but im confused. Do they fly straight from singapore to malaysia cause they just advertised that on TV that they do but at the website theres no mention of it. So i must go to JB (Senai Airport) to fly to Sarawak then? I'm planning to go to Sarawak but the online booking is so complex how do we know if the flight is fully booked and whatnots? I am planning to go on the first week of December is that too late to book? The website did mention that travel period is jan 2009 so i cannot book for something this upcoming december? It says RM49 but it can't be that cheap right? Or are there other hidden fees ? I just wanna ask that besides Air Asia are there any budget airlines based in JB that we can take there? We are a group of teenagers trying to backpack and just immense ourselves in the Borneo culture over there. Is it possible for us to attain the low costs in all the travel expenses? Wilber Tan 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 (edited) first of ol, AirAsia do have DIRECT flight from Singapore to Kuching Sarawak. 2nd of ol, the travel period mentioned is for the promotion which means the promotion flight will start on the date stated. You can still book any flight before the date for the same route just that the fare is differ. now is 22nd november, is not late to book for december flight. if the flight is full, u wont be able to select any flight so no worry.. and for Penang, u can choose AirAsia direct from Kuching to Penang Edited November 22, 2008 by Wilber Tan

Fitri Shukri 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 Mohd Noor, If you want to go to Penang with friends for backpacking. Save the hassle of online booking. Just go there by express bus. Get an overnight trip, meaning start journey in the evening, sleep the whole journey and arrive Penang/Butterworth the next morning. Cheaper also. Sarawak, sorry, no bus to take you there Yes, don't be surprise, being advised to take the bus on an aviation forum!
Kenneth Chong WT 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 (edited) Hi there...for ur info...AirAsia do indeed fly to KCH and from KCH you can catch a flight to Penang. If you wish to go to Penang 1st, take a bus or flight out of Senai then a flight to KCH. I found that the cheapest flight on AK from SIN-KCH is: Depart Singapore(SIN) to Kuching(KCH) Tue 02 Dec 2008 AK 6674Depart 2035 Arrive 2155 Return Kuching(KCH) to Singapore(SIN) Fri 05 Dec 2008 AK 6673Depart 1840 Arrive 2010 Depart Total 95.00 SGD Depart Total 95.00 SGD Breakdown of the Price 1 Guest @ 63.00 SGD Airport Tax 21.00 SGD Administration Fee 11.00 SGD Return Total 97.00 SGD Return Total 97.00 SGD Breakdown of the Price 1 Guest @ 63.00 Airport Tax 23.00 SGD Administration Fee 11.00 SGD Total 192.00 SGD remember to add SGD 2.50 both ways for luggage... BTW...Tiger Airways still have the "0" fare from SIN-KCH from KCH-SIN expect to pay around 9.99 to 14.99...depending on the dates. Best price 4/12 to 7/12 Total of on SGD 109.99...add SGD 10 for both ways for luggage on Tiger Aiways... If from Senai...it would be RM341...or around that... If you are visiting Kuching only...4-5days is enough... places to visit.... 1.Sarawak Cultural Village Entrance fee RM45 Take a RM10 shuttle bus from Holiday Inn Kuching. 2. Cat Museum...share a taxi, entrance is free...just pay for camera (between RM1-3) 3.Semenggoh Wildlife..share a taxi...entrance is cheap.Cant remember how much. 4. Bako National Park...arrange with any travel agents. Best place to stay...Singgahsana Lodge Singgahsana Lodge ....book early...its the end of the year...many people are here for holidays... Either Penang or Sarawak. I don't know being first time travellers (without adult supervision) i dont know which destination would be better suited. Clarification : Which means if the promotion starts on the 3rd of December, will i get discounted if i purchase the tix before that date but for a flight after 3rd of Dec or must i book on 3rd of Dec itself? Thats tricky. I'll try the mock booking tho its frustrating the website don't list flights direct from Singapore. hehe. i don't mind departing from Senai though. Kenneth Chong WT 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 AK do not have direct flight to PEN from SIN. Only from Senai...AK would advertise their Promotion by asking you to book from ie...12 Nov to 15 Nov and travel from Jan-June. So you have to book the tic within those 4 days but travel maybe next year...this is as an example lar... Good luck finding your perfect Holiday....

AK usually will not include RM5 luggage charge, and Automatically Insurance charge (removable before made payment), TR will charge you RM25/15kg luggage and RM20 convenient fee for using Credit card payment mode. there's different in currency when u make booking. eg. KCH-SIN-KCH in you'll paid in RM, as if u wanna transit and fly to say Darwin, you'll had to pay in SGD, not RM.depending on the origin country of departure.
