  1. In yield management on LHR-KUL-AUS, airlines could allocate more seats to or prioritize higher yield LHR-AUS and fill remaining with low yield AUS-KUL and KUL-LHR. Opex ex-KUL was cheaper than SIN, poor yield on KUL-LHR is not the reason.
  2. Then why BA and QF exited KUL?
  3. In the contrary; when Asian tigers were prospering in the 1990's, a number of foreign airlines wanted to serve or increase frequency to KUL but was denied to protect mas or mas wasn't interested to reciprocate. When mas was under mr 019 control, besides a few 'south south cooperation' routes instructed by then pm, mas management had literally freehand.
  4. In 1990's mas had the supremacy mentality, refused to join airlines alliance. Airlines operation cost at KUL was cheaper than SIN and kangaroo routes was one of busiest in the world. If the gomen didn't restrict foreign airlines to KUL to protect mas and mas didn't have supremacy mentality, it would be a different story for kul. basically, it is a failure of gomen policy.
  5. It is fascinating to find ExxonMobil and Shell are retailing in the little red dot.
  6. “Suddenly the aircraft starts tilting up and there was shaking so I started bracing for what was happening, and very suddenly there was a very dramatic drop so everyone seated and not wearing seatbelt was launched immediately into the ceiling,” a passenger said. Sound like high altitude stall.
  7. This is a way to reward/compensate staffs took pay cut during covid19 pandemic. MH could keep their fare high. TG, VN and CZ is affordable and convenience option to NRT, HND and KIX.
  8. Most premium pax from KUL to US west coast, choose SQ then CX. Japanese are practical people; if MH utilized HND slot and could feed to JL, daytime slots at HND could be available e.g TG, VN and CZ have day time arrival at HND.
  9. T2 area is known to be swampy from day one, mahb could have pile all critical area during construction but choose to rectify later. To expand T1, building satellite B is unavoidable. If MAHB is interested to improve operation efficiency and pax experience, could complete satellite B early to allow time to upgrade satellite a. As for T3, need not copy T1 and should avoid satellite terminal for better operation efficiency and pax experience.
  10. Those have Nescafé regularly for breakfast find Nescafé gold blend is a luxury, worthy for j class. Korean, Japanese, PRC, Taiwanese, Aussie, European, Vietnamese, etc drink regularly especially with meal. A reason many foreigners find mas unwelcoming and mas yield is consistently poor.
  11. If is on qr ticket, could move to qr flight without much hassle. After safety, reliability is the top priority for most pax. Without dependable arrival time, most pax are unlikely to book in the future. Penny wise, pound foolish. Couldn't blame regular travellers to avoid mas. For reasons, why MH has poor yield.
  12. During peak period, it is advised to allow extra time to check in at MH EY counter at KUL. Occasionally, queue spilled beyond island H. On QR to EUR, MH operate KUL-DOH sector price is cheaper than QR. Believe many pax preferred to pay more for QR than have their experience dented by MH. With advance notice, MH should and could offer J class pax option on JL or NH flight to NRT. On the other hand, MH is known to avoid sending pax to competitors. If compensation is cheaper than loss making flight; this may give bean counters idea to combined flight during low season.
  13. That's why the gomen has been limiting SZB since KUL in operation.
  14. For city airport like SZB to success, frequency is the key. It is more feasible to operate regional jet from SZB than 737/A320 size.
  15. Arrive/depart KUL between 02:00 and 05:00 timed well with PRC domestic connection.
  16. Bean counters justified it is cheaper to pay compensation than having extra airframe year round. Kampung folks have no ideal of actual size of rmn asset, could only tell from aerial display. Many politicians and policy makers only care of perception as they may not in the same position in a few years time. When s#1t hit the fan, blame all on scapegoat.
  17. During busy period, klia taxi tried to upsell claiming budget and premier class not avilable which often is not true.
  18. Bus queue at T1 satellite is a cattle pen
  19. Zero luggage lost: Japan's Kansai Airport keeps 30-year record going .... Lost bags typically occur through staff failure to load them at the departure airport or errors in transferring them at connecting airports. According to SITA, an aviation-related system developer based in Switzerland, the world's airline companies mishandled an average 7.6 pieces of baggage per 1,000 passengers in 2022. But at Kansai Airport, no baggage has been lost due to causes attributable to the airport operator in the 30 years since its opening. The airport handled about 10 million baggage items in fiscal 2023. .... To save passengers from stress, CKTS has a goal of getting bags to the baggage claim area within 15 minutes after an aircraft arrives. Staffers place suitcases on conveyor belts so their handles will face toward passengers, easily picked up. They hand over damage-prone items like musical instruments, strollers and skis directly to passengers. Their careful treatment of baggage extends to things like wiping suitcases dry if they get wet in the rain. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Transportation/Zero-luggage-lost-Japan-s-Kansai-Airport-keeps-30-year-record-going MAHB has much to learn from CKTS.
