  1. Previously Aeroflot, Ansett, ANA, BA, North West, Quantas, Sabena, SAS were here.
  2. If a 1000cc glass contains 500cc of water. Is the glass half full or half empty?
  3. Patriotic doesn’t equal ignorant.
  4. Why not tram? As it is cheaper to build and operate than monorail beside there is plenty of land available for double tracks.
  5. For certain, ERL won’t be extending to JB in the next 5 years as it was not mentioned in the 9MP
  6. Typical Malaysian politician, see a tree but miss the whole forest.
  7. A major obstacle for foreign airlines operating to KUL is about half of Malaysian population don’t travel on foreign airlines because of uncertain halal food. Hence, foreign airlines need to depend more on their nationals for business and it make more sense to operate via alliance. Further more, the cost of operating a base at KUL is expensive. Therefore fewer airlines choose to online to KUL.
  8. Malaysia Boleh? KUL traffic volume is only about 1/3 of BKK. If compared with DAC, may be Malaysia is boleh else is naïve. Without fifth freedom rights, doubt KUL sector is viable for Finnair.
  9. The volume of traffic in the city of Houston, London and New York is much higher than the whole of peninsular Malaysia. Hence, it made economical sense to have multiple airports. But doubt the volume of traffic from Malacca justified regular A320 or B734 service. Believe the Government should be focusing on improving the under utilized KLIA (e.g. extending ERL to LCCT) rather than spreading the resources too thinly.
  10. Malacca is only an hour drive from KLIA, it doesn’t make economical sense to upgrade to a regional hub. Guess it is just another project for someone who is connected.
  11. Condolences to Chan’s family. Guess Chan didn’t keep his head down and the pilot was too eager to take off
  12. A Paul McCartney and John Lennon concert but who are Paul and John?
  13. A Paul McCartney and John Lennon concert but who are Paul and John?
  14. Apart from frequency, MH evening arrival to EWR is unhelpful to connecting pax. MH may be a 5 star airline with the best cabin service but very often don’t give what pax really want. Hence, EK is operating 2 daily flights on DXB/EWR while MH never made money on KUL/DXB/EWR route.
  15. Heard Chelsea FC has loyal supporters and gaining new supporters in MH, won’t be surprise to see MH sponsoring Chelsea FC.
  16. At current load and fuel price, it is estimated on KUL/EWR sector, MH is losing about RM1 millions per round trip, RM3 millions per week or RM150 millions per year. MH should route EWR via AMS and codeshare with KLM. Without drastic changes, doubt Idris can turn around MH.
  17. In developed countries, airport is a node of a transportation system, providing a seamless, cheap and efficient transit from ground to air and vv. However, KLIA is purposely built with inefficiency so that some cronies can monopolize and maximize profits at the expense of the users and airlines. Hence, KLIA could never compete with other more efficient and cheaper regional airports to be a hub.
  18. KLIA is never designed or operate to be efficient, operation cost is always higher than comparable airport. Guess passengers and Malaysians are the one to pay for all these excesses. Wonder why after due diligence study, Schiphol airport didn’t buy into MAB?
  19. Mas has been through at least two restructuring in the last decade, namely ‘Transformation’ when TR took over and ‘BCG proposal’ when the Government regained control but little was achieved. With many non-commercial objectives imposed on Mas, it is very likely history will be repeated; same circus, different crowns.
  20. Since this slogan was first shouted, what has Malaysia achieve? May be more corruption, more wastage of Rakyat money, more GLC losses, more complacency and falling behind our neighbours economically. Believe LSG is charging Mas between RM15 to RM40 for a EY meal. Mas overhead is sky high, can’t even make money as a ‘full service’ airline, how can they be breakeven as a LCC.
  21. Beside safety, hand luggage limitation is for the benefits of airport duty free shops. Airport authority tends to check pax hand luggage piece, size and weight before entering duty-free shops but not after.
  22. Mas was known to be lenient on excess luggage but without giving customers some ‘extra’ allowance, most customers won’t be happy to pay for excess luggage. Mas has the rights to collect excess luggage fees but how much customers good will is lost? Believe most people who have paid the excess luggage fees will opt for another airline when they travel next.
  23. With the current Government inclination, believe European Airbus is preferred.
  24. When the Government took over from TR, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) was invited to study MH. Presentation was made by the then MD to 3000 managers on planning e.g. spoke and hub, alliance, etc but little was implemented except started the trend to employ more con-sultans. With so many non-commercial objectives imposed on MH; until the day, MH is truly an independent commercial company it is very likely that history will be repeated.
