Just WOW !

Thanks for the explanantion, Aaron. The reason I mentioned the use of oxygen mask for more than 2 hours before landing showed it may not be an immediate life threatening episode. Thus, the pilot may still have some tiny bit of "luxury time" of deiciding which diversion airport to go. Just my thinking, I could be wrong ....

Any reason why SQ picked Baku airport instead of an airport that it serves, eg. IST or ATH ? Are IST & ATH too far offcourse from its route LHR-SIN ? It has been reported that the oxygen masks were dropped and used by pax for more than two hours. There must be ample of time to make decision for the diversion P/S : Interestingly I found out from SQ website Baku is in their route map. Is it for their cargo services ?

EK has not just heaps of destinations, but frequencies as well

Correct me if I am wrong, I remember the 1st airfield in Malaysia was in Taiping, Perak

The article mentions the runway will accommodate A320 and B737-800, perhaps not B737-400..... -

Make sure her plane lands corrrectly on the airport runway..... not at the shopping centre -
If the big orders with plane delivery over a span of many years have no rise & fall component in the contract, that means the buyers can take advantage of locking the price at today's rate for delivery in say 7-8 years time. That is a huge savings !

SQ normally does good job on damage control IMO -
You are right. The oil & gas industry is booming in Northern Territory and there is a lot of expats / interstate labours working there. Many of them are on roster and they can easily afford a short vacation in Malaysia / Indonesia / Thailand. I believe the market potential is there. There is a quite a number of Taiwanese on working holiday visa in Darwin too !
