  1. hahaha thats a good one lah kekeke BTW, Four letter regos coming up in Aussie soon i believe.. look out for VH-fish sticks! already been booked I believed!
  2. BA is being screwed by QF... its blatantly obvious... BA can make money but due to the agreement between BA and QF during the mid-nineties and during the formation of one-world, BA thought that it was safe due to its equity investment of 19% in QF... as you would now know, BA has divested this stake in QF and the only thing holding BA and QF together is oneworld.. which Qantas has made quite apparent that they are not interested if given the chance to merge with SQ or Air NZ... so QF are basically very smart corporate fellows, who depend on a handful of international routes to sustain them... As an international airline, QF is rather pathetic serving mainly LHR, SIN, FRA, HKG, BKK.... BA is a far more reputable international airline... The reason BA stopped flying to KUL and CGK was not because pax were transferring to SIN, but because they couldn't fill up their premium cabins... then they went through the first of a few financial difficulties resulting in lots of routes being dropped all over the world... As a business centre, KUL is not as important as SIN.. As an economic industrial centre, KUL is far more important than SIN... trade between UK and Malaysia will show that!!! BA is in the pipelines of returning to KUL as has been rumour for some time now.. the rumour is still strong and even though its only a rumour, given the time the word has been going around, there must be some sustinence for it.. QF is living up to its reputation as being just a flying rodent... I think in time, Virgin Blue, and if ever Ansett (3) will be more successful and will receive my vote of confidence for travel in Australia... Don't get me wrong, I think they are brilliant in operating their business model, but I just hate them for it because there are too many losers, and at the end of the day - its the aussie flying public that will truly suffer.. If that's the spirit of Australia, then I'll be dammed!
  3. you gotta be kidding me man.... wtf.... safety wise, AK is pretty much near the top... reliability, very decent! its like a 30 min flight anyway... if you want to be really kiasu, you can take JAL first class between SIN and KUL... but ur wasting time and money IMHO... Budget carriers do NOT compromise on safety!! they are operating under the same rules as MAS, SIA etc.. so don't worry lah...
  4. baaaaaaahhh!! Nice pics there Pieter! I think i'll come visit you in AMS next year lah for some spotting maybe in summertime lor, i don't like the cold very much too tropicalised already I wanted to ask you, any of KL 744s named after Kuala Lumpur? if not, why lahhh? ask lah if can make one lahh!!!
  5. dammit lah! I should have just come out to KLIA! I was going to go yesterday, but in the end my sister ask me to drive her to KLCC and entertain my niece.. next thing I know... KLCC was mad... we left early and by the time we got home, it was too late to leave! chhheeeehhh tomorrow lah! who want to join?
  6. hahahah don't forget, we get window seat all the time! no need to fight the herds when boarding hehehe Also, we got PTVs! 6 of them to be precise!!! lots of games to play! hahaha for example: "Let's see how many passengers enjoy a hard right 2 mile visual approach at KUL!"
  7. Holy cow! They got cash to burn! Would be interesting to see them in coming years... But it means that JQ international might have to start services with 767s?? When were they hoping to get off the ground?? KUL is in their sites, but I won't hold my breath! I would rather see BA, AF and CO start services to KUL in the meantime.. JQ international.. I wouldn't fly them... just trying to quash the Market..
  8. Is there any further inquiry on behalf of CAAS into the operations of ST Aero? That's quite a big mistake... usually one would check multiple times and crosscheck with various sources for the locations of the engines... what engines are JAL using? Did cabin crew notice that this aircraft was louder on reverse thrust than other aircraft??? JAL took a long time to notice the defect... ST aero do maintenace for AXM but hopefully, someone in malaysia will begin MRO ops and AXM will move back home for cheaper and hopefully better service!
  9. hahahaha you didn't see the big advertisement on their site ah! shhhheeeesshh I can imagine how exciting it would have been to see a RM0 airfare!! If I didn't know about the free seats, i would have done exactly what you did here Keith! No worries, mate! Enjoy the somewhat free-ride! Less than 300,000 seats now remain! Hurry hurry hurry! Grab AK free seat to Macau! or Siem Reap! or Phnom Penh! or Bangkok! or Jakarta!
  10. Really?? I think they are kinda weird... the ANA Blue whale was nice I think the worst special livery around is that EVA air Hello Kitty A330! eeee yeeerrr! teruk lah... makes the A330 look like kitty litter! AirAsia LAT (9M-AAP) and Jalur Gemilang (9M-AAI) are personal favorites of mine... I remember this sign on the ops planning notice board in AXM office: "Restrict AAI on international sectors - Too nationalistic!" hahahaha
  11. BA is being screwed over by QF lah.. its blatant I think BA should give QF a kick, and compete with them on the perth run. LHR-KUL-PER!!! LHR-KUL-MEL!!! NICHE MARKETS!!!!! Malaysians love to fly BA (for some unknown reason) and english and australians love to fly MH! Its a win win situation BA dropping MEL?! Well that is rather sad indeed! BA is in somewhat a similar financial condition as MH, albeit a lot better than MH and not due to corruptive forces.. this is spelling some trouble for them.. god bless the queen and her flying ribbon BA... actually ah. what is their logo about?! Too lazy to check their website, someone here edu-ma-cate me
  12. Liam, doesn't matter mate! Our seat pitch on the Ak320 is fully adjustable from my understanding! Electronically too i believe!
  13. dei lah, they were once the majority whhhaaatt here is a joke for all of you: When entering Australia, Joe Bloggs, your atypical english pommie geezer was filling out his arrival card for immigration purposes... when he got to the counter, the immigration (customs) officer noted that he didn't answer one of the questions... "Sir, you forgot to answer this question: Do you have any previous criminal convictions?" the reply from Joe was short, but sweet: "BLIMEY! I didn't realise we still needed one to get in!" HAHAHA
  14. We can do in Malaysia also.. wait lah for someone here at MW.com to become manager of MAB, MAS KLIA etc lah hehehe actually, its a very good idea! But here the authorities don't recognise our hobby as enthusiastically... it takes someone to report it in CNN and show its being done in western countries before our authorities will react and wake up to it... typical malaysian mentality.. we need some initiative lor
  15. no need to privatise.. GLC is a good concept too that will work if there are no dark forces running the airline MAS, boleh lah! but clean the corruption lah, the solution is so simple... if heads have to roll, let them roll lah
  16. I think we should organise international spotting meets! this is so random, but we can invite guys from Aus, provide them with our local knowledge and show them around
  17. No worries mate glad to help
  18. Ignatius, The Hydraulic A and B was inop due to the shutdown sequence... if engine got cutoff, and electrical system pun shut off, then hydraulic system will only work (a thus certain systems) if APU running.. I imagine in this case that the shutdown by the pilots was in the worry of a fire breaking out. But as Radzi has pointed out, the precise shutdown sequence has not been maintained in this incident. It is crucial that the spoilers are down in evacuation because they MAY obstruct the evacuation from the over-wing emergency exits, betul-kah?! For a plane to be grounded, it must be deemed unworthy according to the aircraft Minimum Equipment List (MEL)...In simple terms, this is the bible that deems whether a plane can fly or not... Certain systems such as thrust reverser are not critical to an aircraft operation... sure if not working, the MEL requires it do be fixed within a certain period of time.. different malfunctions carry different priorities... You must clarify first with the MEL.. Also, jangan lupa, the thrust reverser and spoiler is not critical to aircraft deceleration upon landing.. the most important is the autobrake setting.. If this not working, no pilot in their right mind would want to fly in the conditions this guy (AAP) was flying in... Autobrake setting is always used!!! Sometimes AK likes to rollout at KLIA and vacate at C or D i think and when they do this, then they may set autobrake to 1, and switch it off below usually 60 knots.. don't quote me on that, Radzi will know lots better.. Hope this helps you to understand a bit more, and realise that flying is not all stick and rudder.. but a s#1t-load of paperwork and procedures too!
  19. Liam.. I don't think you aussie anymore lahh.. already Malaysian mah! You and Pieter both sama-sama lahh a new breed of mat-sallehs heheheh But I agree lah, Hibiscus and Heliconia are truly beautiful to look at Wunala looks kinda funky lah.. its getting a bit old now.. although we all still get excited in Perth when it does make the odd trip... right or not, Liam?! And Sydney 2000 A320!! Fuaaahhh I was sooo lucky to go on that beautiful birdie! But too bad it landed on 21 at PER... I was looking forward to my first ever 24 approach.. to this day, I still have never made that approach...
  20. Hey guys, Apparently after shutdown, engine 1 thrust reverser doors were jammed and thus left in the open position. The thrust reverser wasn't working anyway... As to why the Speedbrakes were still deployed, Radzi's guess is as good as mine.. For those of you not in the know, the B737 hydraulic system has two engine driven motors and two elecrical driven motors, System A, System B and then the back-up motor generator situated in the middle of the main wheel well. The ground spoilers are controlled by System A, which is driven by engine 1... Only inflight spoilers are controlled by System A AND B... so in the event of this incident, it would appear that the electrical motor and engine motor for system A were rendered INOP resulting in the speedbrakes remaining deployed as indicated in Meors photographs... just my 2 cents
  21. Govt owns a whopping 72% of MAS!! There are people high up who might think of migrating overseas with their newfound wealth courtesy of Malaysian Airlines Bhd in the coming months! Heck, they might even be allowed to charter all of MASkargos fleet to move their belongings and myriad of BMWs, Mercs, Ferraris etc etc etc... Denny, Jangan lupa yah, the chairman of the Securities Commission is a former chairman of MAS in fact, he was the guy who took over just after Tajudin and announced the WAU program which gave MAS some rosey numbers in the past 2 years. The new management is already in deep water over their idea to 'sell' the iconic MAS building in downtown KL... I think we are seeing a number of shot-gun decisions with not much thought... MAS needs to look at its core business model! Seperate the airline into MAS International, MAS Domestic and MAS Rural services!!! each company being a Sdn. Bhd, subsidaries of MAS Bhd!!! Each company has an appointed CEO with airline experience!!! Preferably internally and Malaysian! Market our engineering services to regional and other international airlines!!! QF contract for the A330s would be a good one to secure.. after all, at present they have to travel all the way to switzerland for maintenance!!! How about lowering overhead costs??? This is malaysia... people come here for the love of the food!! WHY DOESN'T MAS PROVIDE MORE LOCAL FOOD OPTIONS ON ITS FLIGHTS WHICH ARE CHEAPER AND SOMEWHAT TASTIER TO PRODUCE!!??? Human Resources!! COME ON! Look after your people and then your customers!! They are one in the same! Get rid of these execs and staff who are not fulfilling their duties!! Encourage staff to multi-task. most importantly, give them financial and job security by endorsing and maintaining an innovative and efficient financial strategy for the airline! We got the ability! USE IT! Competition works! Challenge AK, Challenge SQ, CX, TG, QF!!! What the hell are they thinking!! They want RM3 billion to get the airline running again! I don't care, but I don't believe in such an excessively large bail-out.. where is the money going to go?? RM3,000,000,000 IS A S**T-LOAD lot of money! Let's hear the plan! Let's see the action?! What is management doing??!! Learn lah, transparency and open-forums will allow greater success for the airline... when lah will things change...
  22. Pieter, in your own words: BAAAAAHH Magnificent shots! Hope to meet up with you in KUL in the near future Love the sunrise shot and that winglet is spectacular! Drop down LCDs and 737-800 hulls.. will they soon be a common site here in m'sia?! MAS?? Can answer or not
  23. 9M-AAP Incident in KKIA was due to Pilot-error. The captain was an Indonesian Captain, just transferred across to AXM and was on his check flight. Engine 1 thrust reverser was INOP and appropriately labelled in the flight-deck.. The pilot was instructed NOT TO USE THRUST REVERSERS!! Instead, autobrake setting is sufficient for aircraft - a higher setting to be used given KKIA runway length and weather.. Spoilers still operative! Upon landing in somewhat severe weather conditions in KKIA, the pilot engaged thrust reversers resulting in the aircraft to yaw on the runway due differential power setting. Aircraft aquaplanned due to runway conditions - drainage at KKIA is not the best from my understanding. Aircraft came to a rest in the soft grass besdes the runway becoming bogged. Boeing AOG team repaired aircraft, as some structural damage was incurred to the fuselage. Beautiful rivet plate on port side, forward of wing as a result of the incident. Aircraft FYI, is non-EFIS type. From my understanding, the sequence of events was as follows: MH A330 landed ahead of AK 737 (AAP) and reported to tower that they were experiencing tailwinds and windshear at low level. Tower gave the option to AAP to circle and come in from alternate direction. AAP pilots decided to go ahead with present approach. Aircraft experienced wind-shear but landed successfully. Force of habit of pilot to engage thrust reversers resulted in incident. Pilot no longer employed at AXM.
  24. Yeah, I complained to the Perth office a few days later, I had to call from Malaysia and all they could do was apologise... The funniest part was having to convince them of my story as first the woman didn't believe me and thought I was making a hoax.. I got frustrated and sternly asked for her officer in charge, and thats when her reaction changed to be more accomodating.. Moral of the story is: Don't fly QF.. they may make billion dollar profits, but they sure can't match the service levels offered by our Asian airlines!
  25. hehehe but the inside probably won't e cooked.. outside will be charred.. you like to eat charcoal ah?
