  1. so we are waiting for MPA, MPF, MPH, MPI, MPJ*, MPK, MPL, MPO, MPQ for refurbishing
  2. So how many 744s and 772s left for refurbishing?? I think MH should consider some 773ers for European routes.. has anyone read the article in Airliner World December issue about QantasLink?? MH can learn!! sorry to go off topic but i think with refurbished aircraft, mh should also consider refurbushing the fleet types as part of the turnaround plan
  3. so what if you can't recline... you're paying how much again?? What a poor bugger this fella is... I tell you AXM is good for not installing reclinable seats... with seat pitch at 29". it's just not feasible nor comfortable for pax behind you, right?
  4. dude, are you serious ah?? omg! That's terrible lah.. MH should at least not be so wunkain... Btw! was at the airport today assisting aa family member with a problem, went to the duty manager (passenger services) on the 5th level of mTB.. There was some kwailoo pax trying to score an upgrade because his reading light didn't switch off on the previous flight... I mean, whilst it would have been annoying to spend the flight with the reading light on, if he was made comfortable by the crew, there shouldn't really be much of a problem right?? BTW, aren't mas cabin crew trained to change light bulbs in-flight??? I remember reading this somewhere before.. perhaps only in GCC.
  5. if anyone here is under the age of 25, and meets the criteria, go for it!! just try your luck no need to procrastinate out of fear of being rejected... audendo atque agendo - latin for By daring and By doing!
  6. hahahaha yeah, I think MH in OW could work.. but is QF and BA willing to move to KLIA??????????? This is where it gets confusing.. Could everyone be dodging MAS as well because they were aware of previous management practices at the airline??? I mean, it is afterall quite plausible that MH has been sidelined by the alliances, rather than what we have been speculating as MH sidelining the alliances??
  7. AXM and MAS to plan flights accordingly like Hari Raya!
  8. According to the NST today, lots of the oriental (i.e. China) routes are unprofitable.. I don't understand actually, it sounds like there is confusion at MAS.. 79 out of 115 routes being unprofitable sounds a wee bit ridiculous... they are unprofitable because the top-end cabins are filled with royalty and ministers along with the families and aids.. they fly for free.. but the MAS overheads are exhorbitantly high.. no wonder losing money right?
  9. This could be where TG announces they are joining Skyteam... and MH would thus look much better in OneWorld.. how accurate is your source Keith? Have you heard anything else about MH joining OW?
  10. Cannot lah SV, unless they buy a whole lotta new A330s... the MAS A333s are some of the very early types.. but since then, there are lots of improvements by airbus in terms of services and systems aboard, not to mention a very refreshing cabin interiot layout and fitout.. QFs A330s are much nicer inside (in terms of fittings) than MH A330s, but MH has nicer and more comfy seats and seat pitch, hands down! I love the MH A330!
  11. hahaa indian pax always get up as soon as the airplane lands... I've experience that the few times I've travelled to India! no joke! Indira Gandhi International is a joke of a place, but lots of character I remember when they had no computers and check in was by hand for all intl flights! MAS tv commercials are so creative, yet a little too abstract sometimes, but I still like them! Spending on advertising has been cut as part of the turnaround plan so we are less likely to see new tv ads like this as frequently as we have since the inception of the "going beyond expectations' campaign... Hopefully in that short time, MAS has built a stronger brandname for itself and not simply wasted its money.. it was about time MAS did some serios advertising
  12. very interesting find there Does anyone have any shots of the inaugral 747-200s??? They were both meant to be for BA, but ended up with MAS
  13. boarding music on AK is not standardised.. usually, the crew plays their own music, so you get mixed malaysian pop and western pop most of the time... a couple of captains go with the classics
  14. Thanks attan! MAHB received this letter via one of their HR reps who was in contact with me. She said that the letter has fallen on deaf ears and closed eyes... I'm not sure exactly what game MAHB is playing, but they have to start resolving these problems I'm still following up this matter! So everyone here at MW.com, don't worry, I haven't forgotten
  15. SYD-PEK is no problems for the A333. QF also operates PER-NRT with the A333 AND the B763 with not much problems The A330 is an impressive aircraft
  16. At the end of the day, the MYR is at a good rate to attract FDI from Europe and the USA... But it's difficult for us Malaysians to venture overseas... My parents reminisce about the Ku Li MoF days saying that back then, the government was on top of everything and fiscal management was very good.. what happend in the nineties? I think maybe everyone got over-confident with our economic success... who knows..
  17. nice lah MN, on which sectors do you typically expereience the worst behaved passengers?
  18. Ignorance? or Purposed Ignorant Marketing technique for the benefit of the Western Market (who can't pronounce the "proper chinese version" hehehehe which reminds me, has anyone here seen Russel Peters Stand up comedian?? hahaha
  19. hey guys, few days never read the forum But i think maybe it's not such a bad thing after all... We need foreign carriers at KLIA, but more importantly, we need a Solid MAS providing a good route network with high frequencies before other airlines start competing with us
  20. Radzi has said it. MAS operations also need to be overhauled.. the present IT infrastructure at MAS is somewhat lacking in substance... very basic and as such, operational efficiency is hurting.. human resource management is another weakpoint of MAS.. needs to be addressed... I think MAS needs to work more closely with MAHB, DCA and MoT to improve not only itself, but the overall quality of the aviation industry in Malaysia.. This will make us a key-player in the region and ultimately the world. Overheads must be cut, efficient fiscal control implemented, TQM practices re-evaluated and most importantly, look after the staff and train them sufficiently to carry out their duties efficiently.. build mutual respect between management and staff (something that Idris has appeared to do wrt his meeting with MAS employees at the MAS Academy).. from the pilots and engineers to the airplane cleaners, MAS needs to resolve its human resources. BE AN INNOVATIVE AIRLINE RATHER THAN A FOLLOWER!!! create niche markets. MAS is not just an airline, it's a national icon! MAS is malaysia's primary export to the world.. this is the image Malaysia presents of itself in every nation MAS travels to.. Rationalisation of the route network! IMPORTANT! Let's see something happen in this regard!!! Fly to more profitable destinations more often... but here is where MAS needs the governments help in securing additional landing rights and what not... negotiations must be carried out efficiently and professionaly. Fleet review... too many aircraft types in the present MAS fleet.. this has plus points and minus points.. the major minus points is that higher costs involved in the maintenance of the fleet, a major plus point means exposure to a greater number of aircraft types and thus potential for MRO contracts to other carriers.. MAS should exploit this expertise it has, and not sell it! MAS can do a lot, and can recover.. in the case of Swiss, PanAm etc, they were under stiff competition from local carriers such as TWA, AA in the case of Pan Am and BA, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France in the case of Swiss... but the bottomline is that they all collapsed due to poor fiscal management!!! MAS should take note of this, RIGHT AWAY!
  21. ahahahahaha did he have a ninja suit on?
  22. The move is good in many ways.. after looking at it from every angle in the past few days, and seeing the announcement in yesterday's paper.. I think ultimately, the goal to streamline operations is good and if MAS can lease out its building, why not.. but as Izanee has said, the corruption must be stopped!!!! Let's just wait and see what happens in the coming months... what happens will happen
  23. Bring you and your camera to KLIA lah, fren
  24. Kelvin, I emplore you to send those pictures and that story you encountered to NST or TheStar... that is absolutely ridiculous.. Pieter, I'm sure you agree that charging for excess baggage is ok, but this queuing AND DELAYING OF FLIGHTS is terrible... Mana Ada Sistem... I hope MAS can solve this massive dilemma.
