  1. SIA and MAS co-operating is not feasible as the two are competitors.. ultimately, MAS or SIA will be on the bottom end... one has to suffer.. at the moment and for the last 10 years or so, it's been MAS at the bottom.. this has to change!
  2. Andrew K, Dun worry man. engineering is still a great place!! Get involved with lots of aviation projects!! Try everything out, see if you prefer Avionics, Ergonomics, Structural Design, Materials. These are the areas of key development in the next couple of decades! If cannot fly commercially, fly recreationally!
  3. Thanks Pieter for that. That must be what bloomberg has been reporting!
  4. with the restructuring exercise and the rationalisation of routes, MAS is simply not marketable to any alliance at the present time. Ridiculous reports that 79 out of 115 routes operated by MAS (That's intl. and domestic flights) are UNPROFITABLE are for sure not presenting an attractive image of MAS to the alliances. Profitability, self sustainability and operational efficiency are what MAS needs before it can even think about joining an alliance. One year ago, I believed myself that MAS was increasingly leaning towards flying high and the corruption and fiscal crisis experienced over the millenium crossover period (begining in 1997 AFC) was largely over. Alas, we see today the true state of affairs at MAS and now we can only hope that MAS can survive and return to its once proud position at the top of carriers in the Asia-Pacific region and perhaps even the world!
  5. No joke. Petronas owns one tower and Sultan of Brunei owns the other.
  6. in terms of infrastructure, most of the big projects have been put up using largely foreign labour... there are in excess of 1.5 million foreign workers in Malaysia today. Our national population stands at 23 million thereabouts, but in Malaysia at the moment, there are apparently more than 25 million persons! legally and illegaly of course.
  7. i think we may see these 2 birds leaving MH pretty soon!!! so much hype, yet so little out of them..
  8. interesting.. now these characters are REALLY flying, unlike their stunts in the TV shows hahaha
  9. MPF must have got a new door. The question is, Did AKL pay for the door?
  10. Ignatius, Why not you kill two birds with one stone Fly to KL on the AK A320 services that Liam has mentioned, and see the MH 738 OK-TVC here in KUL along with lots of other beauties!! CNY coming up what?? Check your ang-pow lah
  11. I thought they were saying the building can get RM1.0 billion, but some sources tell me they are looking more so at RM0.8 billion.. I hope things work out lah... C'mon MAS! TIME TO FLY!
  12. BI should take a stake in MAS lah! does sultan of Brunei have stake ah?? I know he owns one of the twin towers.. DRW is meant to have a lots of Asians. Very asian like city, I wouldn't mind visiting as Seafood and asian food is meant to be tasty and cheap... like our local food also.. not so much that Hongkie style lah I think PER could do with a run to Shanghai, given the number of biz deals between China and WA.. look at the LNG.. Hmm.. Liam, maybe we should follow through on our idea about a certain western carrier MY 300th POST
  13. hahha yah lah.. maybe like Bas Mini those days... AK when boarding is like a bus.. everyone runs to get a seat! I'm suprised the FO doesn't come into the back and starts cramming people in the aisles yelling: "MASUK LAGI! MASUK LAGI!" hahahaha But all in all, AK is better than any bus where got bus that can fly meh? ok lah.. maybe some of the buses that have gone to Genting but that one also 1 cycle mah!
  14. Yowch! 173 to 88?? IN 6 MONTHS! HOLY COW MAN! Really ah, the atkin's diet? I tried.. I'm 100, trying to get back to 90 and I find it difficult.. my fingers are very strong lah.. all this typing on MW.com and changing channels on Astro
  15. Kudos to the indonesian and bangladeshi foreign workers who have practically built half our nation! Good to know that MH looks after them in the air!
  16. My answers to your questions Azmal: 1. My worst experience with food was on QF. There is the entire story in another topic here on this forum, but basically, there was no meal for me on a flight which was only 60% loaded from Perth to Singapore a few years back. Then QF asian meals are some sorta meat (i.e. Pork, Beef or Chicken) with hoi-sin sauce and fragrant jasmine rice! Thank god for their yummy salads and mustard honey dressing! 2. MH sometimes does and sometimes does not use steel knifes on flights.. all flights to Australia and Europe and USA utilise plastic knives, but more sharper and savage metal forks hahaha
  17. MAS cutting costs by using free newspaper kah?? That is so lame! They should stock a few copies of "The Edge Weekly" then too, same publisher as The Sun what.. and there is not too many nice articles about MH's Fiscal state in there.. I think MAS needs to seriously look at where it is cutting costs... this is terrible that national english and bahasa dailies are not being provided because of either cost or content!
  18. Those A340s were in such bad shape in the last few months at SQ! Even now, they are not that flash we see them in PER quite often with Emirates!
  19. DRW! I seeee Never been there.. anything much up that way? traffic would suck.. Tiger Air, QF and Garuda..
  20. no need to change lah, sory my bad for bad explanation on my part. simply remove and do not reinstall the bulb.. cover it with tape for inspection on arrival and to avert a hazard to pax
  21. hahaha nvm lah, somethings we must have same with passenger lah but at least no need to share arm rest with other people MINE! ALL MINE!
  22. when they find the money they need lor
  23. Airbus and Boeing, hopefully they receive a big order this year from a certain South East Asian Carrier.. So far this year, Airbus is ahead, yesterday signing a deal for 20 A320 and 20 A319 with someone.. not sure who.. saw it on Bloomberg!
  24. I don't ever recall SIA operating A340s into SZB.. but i do know that A313s were prevalant at SZB and there was one flight per day operated by a 744 even!
  25. an excellent list KC! But let's not forget commitment to innovative developments in IT to enhance operational efficiencies and reduce the need for additional staff. Also a relook at the number of staff presently working at MAS and commitment toward better human resource management... These are the areas where MAS is desperately lagging..
