  1. MAS 333 don't really operate short-haul flights these days. So the 333 operation should remain unaffected. These overweight B787-8 can be used to replaced some of the flights to China (Hong Kong, Guangzhou), Taipei, South Asia (Male, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai) etc. currently operated by B737-800. Don't MAS have 11 (or 15 ?) B737-800 with no sky interior/AVOD ? It's about time MAS phase these planes out.
  2. That is what Boeing is trying to do now. MAS reportedly is one of the airlines that Boeing has approached to try to convince to take the early built 787.
  3. Seek help from Air Asia ? OMG! Not this again! Tony Fernandes himself is not exactly a saint too! Besides, he's taken enough from MAS from the last "collaboration". Nobody can help MAS unless they address all the issues that are no longer a secret! MAS can hire the CEO of Cathay Pacific and i bet even he won't be able to save MAS as long as our beloved government is involved!
  4. True! MAS can start phasing out the non-Sky Interior leased 738 soon.
  5. After latest RM1.2b loss, BT suggests bankruptcy for MAS http://www.themalaymailonline.com/money/article/after-latest-rm1.2b-loss-bt-suggests-bankruptcy-for-mas
  6. Malaysia Airlines (MAS) should terminate its RM6.25 billion contract with in-flight caterer Brahim's Holdings Bhd Full story here: http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BTIMES/articles/MASS20/Article/#ixzz2uAZbNeBd
  7. You can see that big advert about their Prepaid Visa Card on www.tune2big.com right ? Click on that and it will direct you to the sign up page. Here is the direct link > https://www.tune2big.com/web/guest/loyalty-qualify?p_p_id=loyaltyQualify_WAR_big By the way, to reload the card through your CIMB Air Asia Savers Account is the only fee-free reload channel and top-up is immediate. As far as I know, CIMB Bank now charge RM15 annual fee for its debit MasterCard. Certain CIMB Bank branches claim they no longer issue the MEPS ATM card which has an annual fee of just RM8 but I am not too sure how true is that. http://www.tune2big.com/my/en/bigreload.html
  8. We don't have chapter 11 in Malaysia. It'll be straight to chapter 7... but, not that will happen anyway. Actually many airlines do have this deeply discounted introductory fare which is probably only enough to cover certain bills for new flight/route. QR, KA/CX, AF, LX all have done this and are still doing this once in a while. If you buy from some travel agencies, it'll be just RM180 all-in, and they take credit card too at no extra charge Anyway, anyone still remembers MAS actually had RM0 fare sale during Idris Jala time ? It was real RM0 fare and a return ticket between BKI-KUL cost just RM64 all-in! No joke! Air Asia should be worried as more and more people are becoming smarter these days. Majority of my friends now always check all three airlines serving BKI - KUL before booking their flights. Some do not mind to pay RM100-RM150 to fly extra MAS. The stingy ones of course will still end up booking Air Asia.
  9. At a very cheap fare too! Just RM1,800 all-in last time i checked.
  10. Yeah. I think BKI-MFM was dropped soon after they started BKI-HKG.
  11. So now it is 2018 huh ? Wouldn't it'd be great had they refurbish the 772 with new seats two years ago ?
  12. India's private airlines want Air Asia kept out http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Business-News/2014/02/21/Indias-private-airlines-want-AirAsia-kept-out/
  13. Sabah can be 'Dubai' of BIMP-EAGA - Fernandes Read the whole story > http://www.theborneopost.com/2014/02/20/sabah-can-be-dubaiin-bimp-eaga-fernandes/#ixzz2tp1H4XxD Air Asia still refuse to move to T1 and now suggest the current T2 to be expanded or build a new terminal for T2. And apparently Air Asia was given RM1 million loan from the Sabah government.
  14. It only looks so after the extensive renovation, a very successful one i must say. Anyway, it is more fair to compare KUL with HKG as both airports opened in the same year and have not gone through any big renovation or facelift thus far. And i agree that the HKIA authority has done a far better job in maintaining HKG. Everything still looks so new and spotless.
  15. And Air Asia will eventually end up like MAS too. So please don't.
  16. But how is suggesting them to get the contract signed with Brahim Catering nullified considered as bashing the CEO ? The current CEO was not involved in the signing of that controversial contract. MAS can buy all the new, fuel efficient planes they want but as long as MAS continue to pay RM20 for an Economy Class Nasi Lemak, MAS will always be at a huge disadvantage here compared to its peers.
  17. For starter, the exclusive contract signed with Brahim Catering (then LSG Skychef) should be declared null and void! RM20 for a nasi lemak ? RM3.20 for a stick of satay ? That's insane! I bet even Cathay Pacific Airways doesn't pay that much for their meals! And living cost in HKG is far higher than that of ours!
  18. Because yield sucks. And with Brahim Catering charging MAS RM20 for that pathetic nasi lemak, it is very hard for MAS to turn a profit.
  19. They were once used for Haj flights, correct ? I flew on one of Air Asia B747-200 operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic 12 years ago!! from BKI to SZB. The Air Asia back then was in transition period from a full service airline to a low-cost carrier. It was one of the last few flights operated as a full service airline.
  20. It will be a while before they can do that. The next victim is the 333
  21. How about the 15x leased B737-800 with the old 737NG interior ? When are they going to phase those planes out ?
