hi guys, i've sent an application form for air asia cadetship thru their website about 2 months ago. and they sent me this Dear Candidates, Please be informed that your application to be a cadet pilot with AirAsia has been recieved by us. However, due to overwhelming response, our cadetship for April is full. You will be invited for our next cadetship which is estimated to take place sometime in July later this year. Once the assessment dates are confirmed, you will be notified accordingly. Until then please be patient and look out for our email. Thank you Capt David Kalisvaran Flight Deck Recruitment Team Air Asia Malaysia i just wanted to ask, when they say cadetship, do they mean taking us in for training to become first officers, or do they want candidates who already posses their pilot's license? thanks in advance.

my mind is set on something other than aviation, but if MAS giving scholarship next year, then i'll probably take it. All the best bro! hmmm, whats the differnce between those PPL's? and can u give a rough estimate on the cost? -

erm, i mean, are they giving out scholarships? if they're not, then im going into a different field, i dont think i'd dare gamble a few hundred thousand and then come out of flying school with no job -
I think if u travel about more than 90km, u can break fast, even if its during the day...

I just got back from Sungai Besi Air Museum Open Day. Its kinda my first air show(?) if u can say that. all in all, it wasnt too bad. just that it was kind off hot and lots of little kids running around. they had some new addition to the museum. had a Mig-29 novalogic flight combat sim. wasnt working tho. i was quite impressed coz they were using saitek x-52 for the joystick, something i really wanted to try out. followedby some booths. kind of a lot of people so, hati tak puas sangat tengok tengok. they had an array of suits. not to bad. evenn a fighter jet seat on which u can sit on. in one booth, there was a simulated radar control and the person in charge was kind enough to talk to me, i suspect he's a retired member of RMAF. there was also a booth where TUDM displayed their guns and tools. gas mask, binos and everything. that was quite cool. there an M4 carbine, M4 RIS, Glock 18C pistol, and an MP5 with a folding stock. i fiddled around the Glock but the guy didnt allowed that. darn.... hmm, then there was a simulated rescue of a downed helicopter. not too bad. A nuri did a low fly-by followed by a team of UTK's repelling down from the helicopter. parachute jump from a C130 from fl7000. and fire rescue. and i guess thats it. there was some stalls outside selling model planes and tshirts. so i bought one tshirt. RM19. not too bad i must say

i am actually in the same exact boat as u. my dad has talked to some pilot friends, and they say MAS is not taking in any cadets for awhile as they have too many. the only hiring airline is air asia and they might nt be sponsoring and may just hire FO or captains. 200k+ seem to be the right estimate. as the others say, u might want to get a diploma first. as for me, im planning to go into dentistry and then try my luck with aviation. borrow ur thread, MW, if i have a PPL license, does that increase my chances for being picked for sponsorship by airlines? and does foreign airlines like SQ or emirates sponsor malaysians for piloting course? thanks
