    Wow...kahwin in the airport?
  3. Yup, both runways were used for landings on that day. This place I meant facing the runway has been closed according to Sneeze, so I'm just stuck with the viewing mall that wasn't facing the runway. But wait...does that mean Changi used to have 2 viewing galleries?
  4. With shots like these how can I not support my national airline? Great stuff, TK! Really love the view from the cockpit.
  5. Well I understand from this forum and some sites I looked up that the authorities don't like folks standing at the roadside taking pics or poking their cameras through the perimeter fence, which was why I chose not to do so and head directly to the beach. Nobody stopped me and didn't see any cops there, so just snap snap snap la... And yes...Master Iggy has definitely taught me well too!
  6. Love the CX smoky touchdown!
  7. Thanks for your comments, guys! Iggy: Darkside? Lol...not so soon. Wanna get D50 also not enough money. Be assured though you'll be seeing a Darkside smile the moment I get my hands on one. Kodak? That one backside, haha...
  8. And finally, what would a trip to Changi be without SQs? This is Part 3, my tribute to Bro LeeCH and his amazing story about being a pilot. 9V-SRC Followed by...9V-SRD! What a coincidence! 9V-SQA 9V-SQI 9V-SQH As usual, any comments, advice, tips, etc for improvement of my photography skills would be much appreciated. An interesting mix I must say. But it certainly was fun catching 3 different types of CX birds on one day.
  9. Part 2 - Shots taken from the park at Changi beach, with a clear view of planes coming in for finals First shot at the beach. Still trying to find the spotting 'G-spot' at this stage. CX sure sends in a variety of planes to SIN don't they, Sneeze? B773, A340 and now B747. Then found somewhere close enough. The lighting made the planes appear dark though. AirAsia Thai Yangtze River Airlines Air India A310. I understand they are ex-SIA? KLM for our resident Dutchman Pieter. Shame I couldn't get the rego. Would really love to find out what city this bird was named after. Changed spot to see the planes fly overhead. Kind of screwed up nose shot from a different angle. This is Garuda's A333 She was landing in a crosswind. Look at those flaps EK got red belly, JetStar got orange belly! China Airlines A333. I found out from airliners.net that this is one of their newest birds Fisheye? I wish! The same China Airlines A333 TG A300 HS-TAZ Head on with Biman Bangladesh's A310 Lufthansa, always one of my personal favorites. This is D-ABVW, 'Wolfsburg' More Garuda birds. PK-GZM Followed by PK-Golf Golf Golf And as if to prove my eyes were not playing tricks earlier, a Fokker flew in! This one was also unmarked. Who says you can only see them in East Malaysia! Qantas. Something you don't see in Malaysia I believe And finally, while waiting at the bus stop before going home, SilkAir's baby bus Ah, so that explains it. Thanks, Sneeze!
  10. The title says it all! Went first to Terminal 1, but I'm unsure if this is the only viewing mall there. I remembered there was one that overlooked the runway and you can see planes landing. But anyway, here are the pics: Taken from the freeway on the way to Changi International. Further along the freeway there was some sort of overhead pedestrian bridge where you can get a clearer view of the airplane 'flyover'. Nose shot tribute to Bro Azahan: From the viewing mall: JetStar Asia A320 China Airlines 738 Vietnam Airlines A321. Could've sworn I saw a B757 at first! Lion Air 734 Then I saw this in the distance. My first thought: 707 controlled by fighter pilots? Made a tight looking turn before landing on 20R (correct me on the runway if I'm wrong): Blow-up. Looked something like a KC-135 tanker if you ask me CXs for Sneeze My favorite A345. Too bad about the light posts Then I saw another plane making a tight looking bend before landing on the other runway (20C?). It's an unmarked...Fokker!? The following pics aren't really clear cos the planes were landing on the other runway and zoom tak cukup. EK for Imran: SQ 744 Quickly followed by another SQ 744 Our neighbours Malaysia sends her representative Which livery do you prefer? And that was it from the viewing mall. Next stop, Changi beach!
  11. Looks like we share the same love for flying pencils, Kevin. First choice: A340-500/600 4 Engines 4 Long Haul, baby! Second choice: B777-300ER Those raked wingtips just do it for me!
  12. Love that 18mm shot, Liau. Absolutely great stuff!
  13. Absolutely wonderful cockpit pics!
  14. Thanks for the answers guys! I knew I could count on mwingers to answer any aircraft related questions...
  15. Hi everyone. I was looking through some of the shots that I took during a recent trip from KUL to PEN on board a 734 and I remembered something about the lights on the wing which made me curious. Here's one of the pictures I took while taxiing to the runway. My questions, based on labels in the picture above: 1. What is the function of light No.1? From what I could gather online (here, here, and here, it's supposed to be a landing light but why is it turned on during takeoff? Is this standard operating procedure for night takeoff or only during times with low visibility at night? It was raining pretty heavy that night and I also noticed that this light was turned off once we reached cruising altitude. 2. What is the function of light No.2? Is it the same as the one shown here, where it is used to illuminate the tail? Here are a couple more pics I took during takeoff and cruise. They're pretty blurry but you can still see the lights that I mentioned earlier. I found this site too while searching, but it makes no mention of light No. 1. Would appreciate it if anyone could enlighten (no pun intended) me further on this. I understand this is Capt Radzi's domain?
  16. I wouldn't take these comparisons at face value. The fact is, AirAsia is much larger than any Singaporean LCC and as a consequence, I believe our LCCT is much, much more busier (thus contributing to lack of ample seating, planes not parked 40m from the terminal, etc.). That and the folks at Jeffooi's site have a history of praising our neighbours down south and bashing our own country every chance they get. But that doesn't mean we can't improve though. If you ask me, budget air travel should not mean low class travel. Oh, and btw what I said above is all based on stuff I heard and read about. I've neither been to KLIA's LCCT nor Singapore's BT so if anyone feels like correcting me, feel free to do so.
  17. Eurasian babe went home already. I'm stuck here till Saturday... Anyways it wasn't really a real spotting trip also. Was sending a friend to the airport, but like any decent spotter of course lah got do some detour a bit. My friend was on the same flight as yours btw. Anyways, love the stuff coming in from you guys. Keep it up!
  18. Iggy, your flight departed 0920 from KCH? I think I caught ya leaving
  19. Wow...does Dragonair really serve KCH? Can't seem to find the schedule on their website...
  20. Spotting's a dangerous job...but somebody's gotta do it!
  21. Just slightly off topic, but did anyone apply for the SIA cadet pilot program a while back?
  22. just curious though...isn't a heli rotor's clearance from the ground way higher than the average man's height? i mean, from the newspaper pics, they seem to be a few feet higher than everyone there. can wind really bend a heli's rotors that much?
  23. Phewwiiit!!! Taking pictures also can stand with such a pose. Any chance she has an aviation enthusiast sister, TK?
  24. Man, when will the over-nationalism and Singapore bashing stop? And I was starting to think that maybe MAS should learn from SIA on how to run an airline.
