  1. The drag pushes on the plane, powered forward by thrust. Imagine yourselves moving forward. Then have someone push your chest when you walk. The thrust pushes the plane forward against the air. The air pushes back against the plane - Air resistance. ----->o----->
  2. Min Chun - Well, lets draw a dot and pretend its the plane. Draw an arrow donwards with respect to the dot and that would be Fg, gravitational force. Draw an arrow upwards and that would be Fl, or force of lift. An arrow to the right would represent Fa, or applied force. An arrow pointing to the dot, from the left side would be the force of air resistance or friction. Gettit? Better now? Haha. Something like that thing on top. Really badly drawn, oh well... Shane: Interview was approximately 45minutes. Everyone had the same time allowance I think.
  3. Well, tips are - Be articulate in english, customary questions are tell me about yourself and why you want to join our company. Be sure to know who's who in the company and current issures related to the industry and the company (Thank you MalaysianWings). They would fire questions related to your answers, so think fast. If you arent sure, admit it. No use giving a crappy answer that would make them go "Righttttt......" Smile always, and try to have fun. Know how plane flies. They might ask you do draw a free-body diagram (i got that anyway) of a plane. Know the differences between aircraft. They would want to put some pressure on you but take it as a challenge. And, bring all of your certificates (they would comb through it). Prove yourselves worthy. Thats all i can say i guess.
  4. Well Shane, I honestly had a lot of fun. Smiled my way though. Haha. I felt at ease with the 2 Captains and the guy from HR. They asked personal questions and some techinical stuff, nothing too heavy. Found it surprising that they asked me to draw stuff on the board tho. Have my physics teacher andm management lecturer to thank i guess. Best of luck to you!
  5. Well, some people get the psychometric test the day after psychomotor. maybe you just need to wait a lil more. should be smooth sailing after psychomotor i guess. Have the feeling its the end of the road for me. Haha. Don't think MH wants blood-phobic pilots.
  6. I had this really bad experience during the medical yesterday. I passed out after the blood test. Haha. I woke up to the nurses going "dik...dik" while lying on a bed. Bizarre as seconds earlier I was looking at the other candidate doing a manual eye test as he couldt see the letters in the electronic machine that well. i just felt light headed after getting my blood drawn (man, i hate it) and closed my eyes for a second. heard from the ther person i just fell asleep. lol. rethinking my options now. maybe i'm not cut out tofly after all.

  8. One random question. Has MH ever owned part of the 4 seasons langkawi? If so, have they sold their share yet? I cant seem to find any articles.
  9. I got the call for the interview. Hmmmm. No idea what to expect. The lady on the line was like "Dress smartly....tie...cut your hair etc etc. Now I'm bloody nervous. I;m not sure if I still want to fly, now with the resizing and so on. Its either this or a degree in the US. Its next monday. anyone else got called?
  10. Has MH sold their share of the Four Seasons Langkawi? I think they own part of it, saw it in the papers last year.
  11. Sad. So which 4 are those grounded?
  12. being rather naive here, but I cant help thinking it would give MH time to improve the first and business class (if they are to introduce a newer product) to be on par or better than SQ, whose new F/C product is due to be released this december.
  13. What I'd like to see next time - Updated seat maps and smth whereby you get to choose your seat allocation - not feasible now, having few configs for some aircraft.
  14. TG cabin crew are actually pretty good. I flew 4 sectors with them recently and they are really friendly and have a certain holiday attitude, which make the passengers feel relaxed and upbeat. They're on par with MH. If one read the little details concerning the cabin staff survey, they said .... "No recent Cabin Staff Awards would be complete without recognising the performance of Malaysia Airlines - a former long-term winner of this major accolade. Ranked in 3rd place, there was a considerable period of this year's Survey where Malaysia Airlines looked set to regain their title, and it was only in the last few weeks where they slipped slightly" added Edward Plaisted. So, yeah. A bit of bad luck there.
  15. Interesting. I've always thought the logo lights were on the horizantal stabilizer. Looked that way anyway. One other light I love watching is the one illuminating the engine for night takeoffs/landings. Wing illumination lights. The 737 ones are really bright but the a330 and 777 ones are a little dim.
  16. Take a look at www.malaysiaairlines.com . Looks a lil funkier compared to last time. More links and such. What do you guys think?
  17. So where do you guys stay now in KCH? No more Hilton?
  18. So for a 744 trip, there are 20-odd rooms booked, 1 for each and every crew member? Dang. If only you could choose a partner to travel with to share rooms. Half the cost, and besides, it could be a lot of fun. To prevent tongues from wagging, conditions are they must be of the same sex.
  19. I think you mean SYD-KCH-KUL. They dont fly KCH-SYD direct.
  20. Damned, I would pay for it. How much more $$$ is it anyway? To be able to sleep one of the new C beds, i definately wont mid paying a bit extra!
  21. Well, I think the a380 will come, like it or not in '07. I'd LOVE to see MH with new seats, though I am very, very sceptical about it. Catch-22. New seats=less cash, '05 seats=less passengers. But, still...I am hopeful.
  22. Sanjay, I'm in ADP! Hahaha. Just a stone's throw away from the main campus. I applied with my CPU results. I think you;d have to wait like a minimum of 2 months before you get any reply.
  23. Do you think they're strict with the 'you must be 18 at date of application' rule? My friend applied too and his birthday isnt till september. Good luck Sanjay. Get a contingency plan if this doesnt work out.
  24. I applied like 5 months ago. Still waiting for my psychometric results. Gosh, if I have to wait some more, I have to stay (and pay for) 3 months more in college. Had it mid-december.
