  1. Not mistake the drive was to get all planes at max utilisation rates with near unachievable turnaround(like lcc) except when there's mechanical or software issues pilling up with operating aircrafts that way they don't have the manpower to quickly rectify them. There was a rumor many weeks back that a few of the upper management team and BOD's were also caught up by the operational mess on their flights. Not sure if action will be taken on the party that was responsible for ignoring the issue of many valuable staffs leaving rapidly this year. Meanwhile Malaysia Aviation Group adds 248 flights through to March 2024 to meet soaring travel demand While load seems is good and profits are coming, i don't think the experience for customer is improving nor is the workload for the staffs. I've seen staffs from operations complaining they've been trying to get leaves approve only to be rejected for continuously for months meanwhile many are put on standby and stuck at home. HR's Big brain so called Cadet avengers team for pilots and engineers are taking too long to come in(Sim and academy centre also on relocation phase which will impact workforce) meanwhile more experienced people are leaving for much greener pastures.
  2. Interesting time for BKI Dec 13 to march 3 Jin air upgauge to B772 Dec 23 february 29 seasonal Asiana A333 Both arriving on similar timing. Note for OZ business class seats are not bookable and it seems the entire flight is only open to south koreans.
  3. One A330 in jeddah aog from hydraulic leak. Meanwhile MVD deployment delayed while MVB is geared in. I think it comes a time if they take new aircrafts they don't have sufficient amount of LAE and techs to clear them in ample time on top of them having to service other foreign and local clients in queue for MRO services on top of having to service MAG's own aircrafts. All the mess stems from HR always shuffling and disposing valued staffs like replaceable toy figures and always boasting that they can always find fresh new blood to bully and all operational hiccups and complaints are acceptable.
  4. If the routes fail it is the passengers that bare the brunt. Rerouting with transit, rescheduling, those opting for refunds are looking at 2 weeks quickest. But then looking at the airlines tnc it is only their duty to get you from point a to b it never mentions how well they can get you there. Thats why there are cases of airlines putting passengers on bus express when s#1t goes down in the west. Strategy wise the airline needs support in marketing by respective local tourism instead of ordering around and hiding when the route launches and then complaining when the airline pulls out.
  5. In other countries if an airline keeps suspending routes on short notice the aviation regulatory will limit the ability to apply routes and slot. Meanwhile in msia and murica u can cincai apply on the basis of testing new untapped market except with no gov support and tourism/economy marketing majority are going into kamikazi zone. Also applies to MAG and Batik Msia inconsistent handling on many new routes.
  6. Boeing Nears Thai Air Order as Engine Standoff Sinks Airbus I think it is mostly an issue with RR's new stance on refusing to cut pricing(and giving commission bribes to airline/aviation execs) on its engine. It's never about efficiency or dispatch reliability levels. 80 B787 looks like another unsustainable crowding in the South East Asian market.
  7. Looks like masterplan to expand BKI's current location is also in play. Same company handling KBR's current expansion and upcoming PEN. Also note TWU is also on their masterplan. BKI TWU KBR PEN MAHB Airport Masterplans For Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau
  8. I think since the B733 days Sabah was the one of the very few key areas that helped them. But looking at market viability on long term the flights Ak is doing is also uncertain cause everything they're doing is just undercutting costs until the bottom barrel and hoping the volume run and auxiliary sales does the rest. MYR(something Tony has mentioned as well) is not improving and the population drive from Sabah is still very low. Foreigners like South Koreans tend to stick with their own preferable airlines. Everything is still plug and pull for now.
  9. Unlikely to lose seats as the galley just needs some more storage to hold food but this also takes up a huge bill. As for new builds if they are to source them it will only enter the fleet in 2026 tops. Thats how long the waiting list is nowadays.
  10. It can do 8-9hours(which usually is a 1meal with options plus 1 snack/pie type of serving). Full Galley reconfiguration can fix this but judging how cash sensitive MH is they're unlikely to do this. As for Thai they're gearing to modify theirs middle of next year.
  11. All these frames customised by other carriers often brings headache. Heard for 9M-MAH a lot of stuff the way SAS configures behind the scenes made the plane too redundant for long haul. The good side it has a superior seat product for passengers lol. Among some of the issues was the misplacement of safety and medical equipment, insufficient dedicated cabin crew seats(airline has to block seats on economy so that the crew can sit on it for take off and landing, Insufficient galley food storage that the aircraft can only serve 1 meal with options and 1 snack course cant serve 2 full meals effectively crossing out potentials for LHR/AKL. Aircraft also seems to have lower Max take off weight. Similar headaches were also faced by Thai airways with their acquisition for the used a350s. If i am not mistaken SAS 6 hour flights or less are BOB, for long haul its only 1 choice complimentary meals hence they customised the planes with less food storage. These european carriers often simply configured their aircrafts like rojak to save some buck and operates almost no frills like. Same issue when MH took the 6 ex air berlin a330-200. All 6 were differently configured LOL.
  12. So far none of MH 25 frames will be from China NTU at the moment cant say for the other options it has though. MVB i doubt it can come on 6th more likely mid december to late end of the year.
  13. Believe 9M-RAR special sticker decal of Datuk Irene was already commissioned months ago guess now is the only time where they officiate it. Was at the event some interesting notes mentioned by Tony. BKI-ICN, BKI-JAPAN(unspecified but likely to be KIX) launching next year. 12aircraft to be based in BKI. 1 A333 to be based as well.
  14. CFM leap still not coming in. A waste of opportunity actually.
  15. Nobody can provide fuel to sanctioned countries or risk having some form of restriction impose. While sanctions on Petronas may look miniscule on paper it will effect the economy as a whole cause everything like supply chain, private businesses and vendor support are linked. It was also the reason why we're seeing China partially contracting recently. Indonesia suffered the same when there was partial trade embargo in the 80s to mid 90s. For Malaysia to sing the same tune and ignore the elephants one must have resilient mass local consumption, strong manufacturing, variety of economic activities and strong export but til now we're still pretty much import reliant+low labor focused.
  16. Very confusing branding in the long run. Multiple tail logo variations though again the airline always cannot commit into repainting the entire fleet within a year lol. Lets see 2010 swoosh livery entry 2012 oneworld entry and wau edit + a380 exclusive paint scheme again took them very long to follow up the paint(never completed) standards on the entire fleet and the only commitment they seem to be doing is pasting the tiny oneworld sticker near the door on every aircraft. 2014 turmoil probably cause the mess in trying to rebrand. 2017ish special one off negaraku, a350 with different tail logo standards entry, weak commit to repaint most of the aircrafts to follow up the 2017 styling based on the a350. 2021 negaraku to be standard paint and thanks the pandemic it was easier to repaint most of the fleet. 2023 wau songket motif edit now to be standard updated negaraku for the 737max and a330neo meanwhile no indication if other aircrafts will follow. Meanwhile Thai, Garuda and Singapore probably only tinker the corporate logo once every 15 years that also with very marginal changes.
  17. Negaraku is the standard. https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2022/09/831853/malaysia-airlines-high-patriotism-spirit-malaysia-flag-livery The initiative to refresh the liveries coincides with airworthy maintenance and came during the Covid-19 pandemic when close to 80 per cent of aircraft were grounded due to the worldwide travel ban. At the end of the programme to refresh the liveries, 58 of 76 aircraft would be decked in the liveries, Eke Nazri said. Only issue now it seems the songket wau coming in will probably overwrite the current scheme. Even though both are negaraku the wau logo's are very different so as the company name font styling.
  18. Apparently the livery is to honor a important person from Sabah.
  19. Airasia will be unveiling 1 special A320 livery with an event scheduled for BKI on December 4th if anyone is interested to spot.
  20. Should be part of the acceptance flight. Delivery planned on dec 4th now. Supposed to be 2 days ago i recall based on old scheduling 1 month ago. Some of the schedules listed on aeroroutes Malaysia Airlines during the week of 30OCT23’s schedule update filed additional changes to its planned Boeing 737 MAX 8 operation, for Northern winter 2023/24 season. As of 14NOV23, latest update to the carrier’s planned 737 MAX service as follows. Kuala Lumpur – Kota Kinabalu eff 20NOV23 2 daily (3 daily from 04DEC23) Kuala Lumpur – Kuching eff 04JAN24 1 daily Kuala Lumpur – Miri eff 04DEC23 1 daily Kuala Lumpur – Penang eff 04JAN24 1 daily Kuala Lumpur – Phuket eff 04JAN24 1 daily It is likely the Miri(MH2584) and the 3rd daily KK(MH2610)flight to be using the usual 737-800 on dec4th. Aircraft delivered on 4th december they'll surely be a period of it sitting in the hangar pending checks before handing off for commercial operations. Meanwhile websites still selling them as 737-8 on dec 4th.
  21. How many times deregulation have screwed up multiple essential industries and given us subpar or greedy profit driven products and services. Deregulation of the banking and finance industry cause a few mortgage and financial crisis in the past. While MAVcom is inefficient and should be consolidated into CAM since day 1 i see certain checks are still needed especially domestic where it is still under the sensitive essential services. Its stupid to allow anyone to come in and pull out less than 3 months into the operation. Even Japan, Indonesia and thai domestic air travels are subjected to route permits from regulators. https://iclg.com/practice-areas/aviation-laws-and-regulations/japan https://iclg.com/practice-areas/aviation-laws-and-regulations/thailand
  22. MVD delivery slightly delayed to dec4th. Passengers who booked with the original intention to try them out on the Miri and 3rd daily KK flight on dec 4th are unlikely to experience the aircraft. Also it seems MVB may be coming in this late dec though still no photographs from any spotters at Renton.
  23. Still ongoing regardless how broken or inefficient an aircraft is the lease tnc is tnc tenure u need to abide. Though i suspect no parking charges as the aircrafts are parked on MAG ground around the hangar vicinity which is not under MAHB. As for the 6 MH A350 those are probably due for C checks and the new recommendation and AD by airbus on the SSA probe and probably more unspecified stuffs for older frames is also stuff that is fairly common in the airline industry. Last time MH also got the same restriction on the 6 A380 dugongs that needed inspection that they had to quickly dig out 1 B747-400 as a standby aircraft but in the end they manage to ease their way out without needing the 747 in actual deployment. The a350 though may be a bit more tight as i think the airline deploys them more often around its network than the A380 which back then has been only doing LHR with seasonal ICN,NRT back then.
  24. I think passengers nowadays are just too naive. People are pushing for mass frequencies and affordable flying but they never thought to have all the convenience one must have the contingency *s#1t happens scenario* planned in replacement except usually there is none. Also many still holding the karen complex whenever there's an inconvenience. Some abruptly having short visits only to throw tantrum when the airline screws up their appointment like the SQ A380 stuck at gate scenario a while ago. Flying costs have not gone down but majority would just look at the other side.
  25. The other 5 frames would probably be in queue for the long maintenance process as well. Looks like the airline would be operating 6 a350 for many months if thats the case even with MAH delivered. In the end still 350 constrained lol.
