  1. I take that back regarding PEN. Theres actually ample space for remote bays facing opposite the terminal just before the runway 🤣. I am not sure whats wrong with Malaysia. Dehli, Dhaka, Bali, Phuket, Cebu and even down Sydney when parking is insufficient they'll be a minor project of expanding adding bays. Bus services are then used. Perhaps Malaysia wants to act big by saying using bus sending pax to remote bay is a pariah thing but you guys cant even plan an aerotrain replacement timeline.
  2. Cant argue on PEN theres really not much place to build apron over there. But as for BKI there's so many ample place to build apron beside maskargo, and beside the main taxiway. All of these land is still under MAHB land without even going past exiting the perimeter fence. Some of the minor land use could easily grant bki up to 9-12 extra bays and it does not involve relocating anyone nor buying land.
  3. We have many malls downtown with empty rentals and condos with 0 occupancy rates but being bought for conversion to pesky airbnbs. Population density plus local buying power is not up to mark to support such feat. The airport argument now is the current capacity issue vs the realistic outlook that you have empty aircraft bays offpeak. Its poor optimization use of the aircraft bays. Infact remote bays have been implemented at many airports in asean and i have no idea why that is such a taboo thing for Malaysia. Also things like Tawau airport being unable to handle 6th narrowbody aircraft on arrival needs immediate rectification note this airport is facilitating Semporna as well. As for KK, the current remedy has already been discussed countless time but the gov is more interested in relocating. Another issue is with the relocation in kimanis. Anything beyond 45minutes of driving already requires a proper airport railway system. With the low density population plus low buying power in Sabah it is something that could not be feasibly be implemented without forms of subsidies. The ROI wont be there unless Sabah becomes a mega corporate+manufacturing state. It is currently only fixated on mass tourism without even upgrading existing facilities to even attract former target markets from Japan and Australia.
  4. Apparently a new site has been selected over at Kimanis. Companies to explore relocation of KKIA to Kimanis KUALA LUMPUR: The Sabah government, through its strategic investment arm Qhazanah Sabah Bhd (QSB), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with property developer Berjaya Land Bhd (BLand) to explore the possible relocation of Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) to Kimanis. As of this month KK airport relocation study completed, to be presented on Thursday KOTA KINABALU: The feasibility study on the relocation of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport has been completed. Qhazanah Sabah Bhd chairman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob said the report would be presented to the relevant authority this week. "There will be a presentation of the report to the Sabah Economic Planning unit on Thursday. "After that it will be brought to the next cabinet meeting for approval," he said during a press conference at the government-linked company's office here. Project rumored to range within 4-5bil While it sounds possible on long term basis. We have yet to actually fully utilize the current space in KKIA. I've Gone visiting in Bali, Phuket, and looking at Cebu, the land optimization use in BKI is pretty bad. Currently the list of issues at present BKI 1) BKI lacks aircraft parking spots during peak hours but offpeak the airport is a literal ghost town with up to 9-12 aircraft bays available. 2) Immigration for domestic arrival outside of Sabah constraint by lack of counters to handle 5-6 flights arriving at once arriving. 3) Lack of bays available for Redcap. 4) Lack of bays for MAG, Redcap to position their aircraft overnight when the Koreans and PRC come late night. Instead of immediately hawking the idea of new airport. The federal gov needs to address the current situation instead. Some of the list of fixes are easy to implement if there is will. 1) Build more remote bays. Our Asean neighbors are doing it efficiently. 2) Extend a bit of the international and domestic terminal. 3) Stop pandering to airline demands. In other places its the airport authority that decides landing slot allocation with "take it or leave it". Over here airlines are demanding arrival timing. It goes back to what kind of tourist Sabah is attracting. Theres 9-12 empty bays available during offpeak tell them to take those timing. If that kind of arrival timing is not sustainable to the airline it means something is wrong with Sabah. For example does it mean if BKI implements night curfew PRC and Koreans cannot handle the drop in yield as they have to slot the flights to daytime? If thats the case something is wrong. A simple extension and land use of present KKIA i guarantee would sort most of the issue for 10 years or so. The image i uploaded havent even add additional remote bays near the main taxiway to allow 3-6 more a320 to dock lol. The image uploaded airasia gain an easy permanent 10-12 aircraft bays to play around. Apart from adding more immigration counters, Immigration dept Sabah also needs to start looking at using passport autogates for domestic arrival. Another to stop checking sabahan IC thats a waste 80seconds per queue find ways to bypass ic checks. I guarantee this usage efficiency is only gonna cost federal not even 800mil(it includes relocation cost for house owners) and they can better optimize spare funds to upgrade existing infrastructure in Sabah instead or upgrade existing airports like Tawau(itself is a hellhole during peak hours). The only reason the Gov seems to support the airport relocation is they dont have to pay a cent as it is private funded but it just goes for another potential white elephant same story for Kulim airport. Also there's no train connection at the airport in Kimanis as being an example plus the Sabah population being so small does not support such mode of transport commute to the airport.
  5. https://www.nst.com.my/amp/news/nation/2023/07/928933/explainer-all-fuss-about-ntl-order From the looks of it the passengers QnA session with the officer is incoherent. She may have a return ticket on visa but did not produce it on request. In this case not sure if buying a return ticket on the spot warrants entry cause the initial ticket is registered for that particular visa. "Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution has stated that travelers are often denied entry into Malaysia because they fail to provide satisfactory answers to basic questions posed by immigration officers. These questions typically revolve around having a return ticket, details of their accommodation in the country, and adequate financial means to sustain their stay. The purpose of such questioning is to prevent visitors entering on a social pass from seeking employment in Malaysia."
  6. KLIA incident: No bribery, just misunderstanding, says MACC Link According to the source, the commotion stemmed from a misunderstanding between the two tourists and an agent they contacted when they were slapped with a Not-To-Land (NTL) notice by the Immigration Department. “The stranded tourists contacted the agent via the WeChat app, and through the conversation, the agent stated the amount needed to buy their ticket home and the agent’s fees. “Due to communication problems between the two parties (the Chinese tourists and the agent), arose a misunderstanding that there was bribery involved in the incident,” the source told the daily yesterday. Regardless, the probe into the incident is still ongoing, the source added. KLIA incident: Two Chinese nationals return home, says MACC Neither party wanted to verify or inform the public why the person or agent who applied the visa for them failed to produce a return ticket upon request also not verifying their initial plan was to stay for nearly 3 months which contradict the tourist visa policy.
  7. n a statement Thursday (July 6) to clarify news reports, MAHB said the independent company to handle NTL passengers at KLIA was appointed by the KLIA Airline Operators Committee (AOC), a committee consisting of 40 airline operators and 26 associates. Company handling NTL passengers at KLIA not appointed by MAHB Guess everyone is passing on the blame among each other now.
  8. Still regarded as the same. Also it seems the lady is going on behalf of a media agency but was using a tourist visa with no return ticket. https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2023/07/04/tourist-incident-22-people-questioned-by-police Tiong had barged into the arrival hall at KLIA on June 29 and created a commotion in an attempt to “free” a Chinese national who was prohibited entry into Malaysia. Clarifying the matter, Tiong said he had to personally step in to help an employee of a China-based media company after she was allegedly held up by Immigration officers at KLIA on arrival from Shenzhen. On the police report filed by the immigration dept. Tarikh Laporan : 30.06.2023 Laporan Berkaitan: *LAPORAN BERKENAAN KES PENOLAKAN MASUK WARGANEGARA CHINA* Butiran Penumpang : NAMA: WANG XU NO. Sekian, terima kasih. 9. It is always widely known there's a group of foreigners entering Malaysia on Tourist Visa but ended up actually working secretly or overstaying sometimes some are with insufficient funds for their stay. In Australia recall one fella from the UK arriving in Melbourne for 2 weeks stay with no accommodation proof and only carrying 150 pounds in his wallet, claims to have access to his bank account but could not withdraw a single dollar from any of the ATMs while being escorted by immigration lol. He was promptly deported. If we were to fly to China or any other foreign country the same strict policy restrictions would also be in play. This lady case in KLIA likely on communication issue as well plus could not provide sufficient proof she's coming in as a tourist plus has no return flight ticket. Communication barrier aside. Both sides here have issues. Most basic thing for any travelers going abroad as a tourist. Confirmed Return or exit air ticket, Accomodation plus their contact no, Sufficient Sum in your hand plus accessible funds on bank account. Often many getaway with no checks during immigration checks others may not be lucky. If you don't have all these 3 upon their request, you're painting 'a deport' status pointed at your back.
  10. Had a look at the case. Unfortunately that lady on tourist visa would be on the losing end. She had no return ticket, was planning to stay 3months without proof of funds to self support the stay. Reason of stay does not meet tourist visa requirement. Gave weird terms of "coming to takecare of someone like a paid nanny" which requires work pass. Of all things it was the cheap photocopy Bolsonaro prc poster boy who came in barging in like a bulldozer forcing immigration to let her in lol. And now decided not to turn up to give report cause he might've made a mistake on that specific case. https://m.malaysiakini.com/news/670700 No deny there's element of corruption at airports but he went after the wrong case to talk about it.
  11. Another photo from another angle. Credits to hi.aviation From sources over there there's another 737-8 with the MH tail logo in the hangar but body is still in metalic strip. This may be the 2nd frame. No info if the tail logo is using MVA's revised logo plus Songkit/Batik motive.
  12. Yea seems to be the same livery used on the a330neo. Mild batik motive on the Wau and it being angled very oddly. Also noticed wifi dome installed.
  13. First 737-8 rollout 9M-MVA eta august. How many wau variations do we need again? Also est 4 frames due this year.
  14. MoF steps in to reconcile Malaysia Airlines and Brahim's KUALA LUMPUR: The rift between Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Brahim's Holdings Bhd will likely be patched up by August as a mediator has stepped in to help the two companies reconcile. The New Straits Times learnt that the Finance Ministry (MoF) acted as the mediator to mend the broken relationship between the national carrier and its main in-flight meals provider. Sources told the NST that on Thursday, the MoF held a discussion with representatives of Malaysia Airlines' parent Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) as well as MAG's sole shareholder Khazanah Nasional Bhd. Representatives of Brahim's were also present at the meeting. The ministry asked Malaysia Airlines and Brahim's to extend their contract for another two months after June 30, 2023 to negotiate on a new agreement, particularly on the termination of convenience clause. "They're looking into finalising the contract within two months with a revision of the terminational (of convenience) clause," one of the sources said, adding that the discussions between the two companies would be regularly updated to the MoF MoF steps in to reconcile Malaysia Airlines and Brahim's What a joke. LOL
  15. This new catering move is unlikely to improve much for MH's lackluster meals unfortunately but it will finally fully detach MAG completely from the unnecessary high catering cost with the Brahim contract. When Brahim took over catering from LSG skychef. They need to recoup the cost of procuring it. They pass most of it to mh and mh stupidly sign it cuz the crony board told them too. Other foreign carriers were charged quite high also but those carriers are willing to pay unnecessary steep contract but the meals served still lack behind the meal quality of ex SIN/BKK. Different story for mh, as it keeps nego for lowest available option. Brahim gave them the low frills option for domestic and the cutback ingredients for long haul and hence we got very poor food onboard. Another renego deal was made in during the MAS to MAB change that lower the cost but that barely improved the quality of the meals and its still pricey for the quality of meals served. If not mistake BRAHIM catering overall cost structure is near up cost to SATS Changi but their procurement for ingredients is 3-4x cheaper than Changi yet are charging clients on KUL on near SATS level.
  16. 9/10 of the economy offerings by many manufacturers are terrible now as the cushion padding has been stripped down with a select few niche model that barely any airlines are ordering and are considered as concept seats. A yesteryear 737-400 economy seat would easily beat up a widebody seat of today, except it would upset bean counters and accountants that it is too damn heavy and defeats their so called carbon emission and go green minimum compliance bullcrap. Most of the IFEs production post 2019 are already sporting 1080p as a standard with improved refresh rate that makes it feel fluid which is the case for the Panasonic EX2.If this was the ex2 variant in 2015 720p was the standard. What we see MH taking up for the 738 and a333 were based on 2009 circa ifes which are very laggy like the a350 was something from the 2015 circa which only slightly improved the fluidness. Some of the higher end segment models Thales Avant up or Panasonic NEXT series are already incorporating 4k with inbuilt gpu that is no longer dependent on the cpu to have that ipad like gui feel. Expect the 4k ipad like feel to be standard in late 2026 from what gather.
  17. Believe Collins Diamond was the seat selected for the MAX 10 based on the brochure forms ive sighted months ago. Unfortunately the max 10 is in limbo until certification is sorted. MH main idea is to have 10 units of max 10s to be flown as the 2nd daily flight into India and Perth sector after the 330neos. Also it seems MH will retain the same economy class seats seen on the a350 for the 330neo. Difference will be a revised panasonic X ex2 IFE with bumped processor and resolution(Unlikely to be 4k though). One thing the article got it wrong or more likely the CEO was not telling the actual est entry of service for the 330neo.
  18. Interesting its the Collins Aerospace Super Diamond selected for business class wonder whats the seat for economy.
  19. In the case of Sabah pre pandemic PRC and Koreans are only accessing west coast beach and semporna for the islands. Sepilok, Danum, Tabin, lok kawi wildlife park is not their pallate. Former target crowd for Sepilok were formerly Japanese and Australians the same for Sarawak's Mulu with small numbers of europeans occasionally coming over. There was talk about setting up a haunted attraction for dark tourism also resulted in nothing as we barely attracted those kind of tourist. In the old days when i was working in a GA company they would talk how russians and european travelers would charter helicopter on on nearly daily basis for island hoping paying 10k per charter sheet most of them coming from MH and MI connecting flight and layang layang and sabah air would pick them up from the hotel all the way to the hangars. Some of them would be requesting for a direct flight towards danum valley or even all the way to semporna. Fast forward to today 90% of the bell 206 are sitting rotting and only remnants of the flying doctor as355 fleet are still active as the state has been targeting a different sub crowd. All in all We just lack the effort to push in the variety to support the economy. Even on youtube you would occasionally see youtubers on sponsored trip from thai and indonesia but Malaysia its mostly on self volunteer basis. Mark Wien's was invited to Singapore and Indonesia during the pandemic and his event was plastered all over discovery asia.
  20. Budgeting is the main concern i am seeing. Operating expenses is only increased to account for inflation but never further up to try out new markets. Promotion materials are affected by this. I mean even Zoo Negara is dried up with no available expenses to upgrade the facilities hopelessly waiting for NGO, GLC donations. Its the same for sepilok took 10 years for them to beg state gov to finance and complete a jungle walk. Then there's the culture of Malaysia in buying fancy stuff but never planning on renewal and replacement. "If its working it aint broke" is not a good concept to use.
  21. Need to ask our government what they have in mind. Family friendly oriented does not exactly attract farang youths who are eyeing on the night and wild scene. Lack of refined premium facilities also does not attract the high paying crowd some of these crowd are also flocking to our neighbours for the night scene. Even dark tourism(haunted places) was not well accepted by our locals and budget was not put forward to set it up. We haven't even gotten to how underfunded it is in protecting our wildlife diversity which irked quite a lot of aussies and japanese who were former visitors. Prcs have no interest in sepilok or danum. We have to contend that Malaysia is only attractive towards mass tourism as it requires very low effort in financing and will not try out wider array different groups.
  22. Don't think we will receive any 330neo in q3. Late Q4 or mid november seems feasible. There were even speculations that we will receive 330neo ahead of the max 8 this is most likely false as well. The 4 units of max 8 even with delays will still be coming this year.
  23. As a tech geek, the most likely scenario with nearly 200 connected devices, this would constrict the available bandwidth. Goodluck trying to get stable 5mbps connection on an a380 when this goes free. In the days of 4K and higher video bit rate streaming even dedicated 30mbps barely runs smoothly.
  24. The A350s have advance the the signing stage from what i last heard 3 weeks ago. It now lies to cabin config selection and many pending things. Apparently they were 53 a359s from lessors up for grabs since mid march with deliveries(minus cabin plus depending on which production slots are kept by lessors) ready mid june to late november. Some slots are pricey but fully customizable some are very cheap but allows very limited configuration(e.g the 6x ex airberlin a332s). The only issue i see with MAG is everything is locked tight that outsiders and even employees are speculating as it feels that management have not been forthcoming. Unlikely we will see anything that early. At most the 330neo will be deployed on adhoc(nearby sectors less than 3hours on random rotation) for the first 2-3months with reservation only appearing 1 month in advance on the website. Even OD's A333s will be flown that way, overhead them planning Dhaka and domestics holiday seasons during the proving flight.

I've recalled seeing the Interested clients list from Bombardier when the project was announced in 2012. It includes Thai Smiles, Hong Kong Express, Bangkok Airways, Garuda, Lion Group, Mab, Firefly, Airasia Group, Scoot, PAL Express, Vietjet, Vietnam airlines. It basically looks like almost all of the asian carriers were keen. Even airasia was quite close to getting something signed in 2018 when Airbus tookover the CS series but decided to wait for more reliability reports from other carriers.
