  1. Finally launching int'l hub in BKI? On a side note, A320-251N 9M-RAP operated a special rescue flight last night from KMG (Kunming Changshui International Airport) to KUL to bring back 121 Malaysians plus one Indonesian caught in job offer fraud syndicate.
  2. Nice addition to KUL, this would be their first foray into South East Asia, however Air Algerie has less than stellar reputation, especially their A330-200. Approach with caution!
  3. 9M-MTN has returned to KUL safely just now in the evening. Most probably will be in hangar for few days before returning to service.
  4. 9M-MTN is still stuck at Mumbai. MH has dispatched their recovery team to BOM to rectify the issue, no additional information available. Pax re-routed via CMB/SIN to KUL with UL or AI via DEL/SIN. That being said if the immigration has confiscated their passport, there is nothing MH can do tbh. India is notorious in being difficult in issuing visa. For Malaysians, we are required to have pre-arrival visa done to enter India. Actually I am curious to ask why did they confiscated the passport? Was it because they were moved to the Westin?
  5. Three airframes are now confirmed heading to/ returning to AirAsia. 9M-DAB, 9M-DAE and 9M-DAG.
  6. LOL, and the eight frame timeline is now further pushed back. SE-RSC MSN 391 still stored at Lourdes/Tarbes-Ossun - LFBT. Source: https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/11014447
  7. Yes, indeed. MAG and AAGB cancel flight, so does OD. They would have thought moving to OD those pax won't get the same bad experience they have encountered with the other two airlines. 'Til the reality hits them. LOL! As for the IFE, I think Lion Air Group stopped providing it after their OEM Lumexis Corporation in the US went out of business in 2016. Recalling back then in 2016 some of their B737-800NG were delivered from the factory without the IFE. Used to get it done at AIROD hangar in SZB. Since then they have not have any IFE. During the days which they had it, the content was crappy any way. The irony is the ditch Panasonic IFE cause it was too pricey and went with Lumexis only to have the whole thing fell apart. Lion Air Indonesia earlier this year introduced a new third party app called Tripper. Not sure if it will be rolled out to Malaysia. AFAIK, AirAsia X has also abandoned its Samsung Tab handheld device offering. They do not offer WIFI as well. Now the remaining will be MH long haul flight with actual IFE system and some B737-800 flight. MH - WIFI - Yes (except selected B737-800NG, A330-200, A330-300) - installation on A330 fleet happening progressively. IFE - Yes (except selected B737-800NG) AAGB - WIFI - Yes (only for selected A320) IFE - Not available Batik Air Malaysia - WIFI- No (on their website they stated wifi is offered, but based on my few travels with them, it was not available) IFE - No
  8. Addition: They will add Shanghai from December 8, 2023 onwards. Same day as they launch Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
  9. Yes, they will cancel your flight a week before the actual date due to low load and offer you option to either move the flight a day earlier to next available flight. Or you can opt for not-to-seen again refund. Their target markets are often those pissed off at MH for being too expensive "but-soon-no-more-IFE, horrible-plastic-meal and only-10kg-for-cheapest fare" and AK for always nickel-and-dime and "cancelling and delaying" but yet want cheap ticket with maximum benefit. LOL. I am joking. They know they can be cheap as AK, but network is not as wide with high frequency as AK, and they can't fight with premium airline MH. So their selling point is cheapest fare with free 20kg luggage, sort of like Southwest in the US. Best of both worlds I guess. Their inflight meal ain't cheap cost an eye watering RM25 for a nasi lemak! Their Taiwan-Japan vv are mainly tour groups from Taiwan and Japan. Denpasar to Australian routes obviously to target the Aussies going to Denpasar for weekend getaway. Pakistan route cause no one else from Malaysia dare to do it due to safety reason........Istanbul and Uzbekistan they will have the first mover advantage. Istanbul will be a hit with Muslim community especially. As for advertisement, yes we rarely see one within Malaysia. The only one I can remember was the one after toll at ELITE highway heading to the airport. The ad is no longer there now. They have a huge billboard in AKL though. For those B737 without proper J class seat, they will block the middle seat to be quasi J class like those European airlines. Tough luck you paid RM2000 for J class but get a Y class seat. Batik Air is low cost value airline...LOL, not sure what that means.
  10. Batik Air has quietly suspended Ho Chi Minh City earlier this month. Revised route map published recently.
  11. MAVCOM has released a new air traffic rights. Some very interesting rights granted to MYAirlines, too bad they collapsed, if not AirAsia could have some serious competition. 12. 9M-MAB is grounded to have its SSA probes removed. The process requires the airframe to be grounded for a long period. Picture below: Left without SSA probes Right: With SSA probes
  13. That explains it. It flew back to KUL yesterday November 24, 2023. 9M-MLV has also returned to service. Save for FFF out of commission ready for redelivery work to FY, and MXI undergoing maintenance, all 737-800NG are active in service.
  14. Yes, they do not have spare aircraft lying around at the moment. All B737-800NG (except 9M-MXI which is now under maintenance) are now flying four/six sectors daily. Although MXE, MXO and MXY have flown fewer sectors over the past one week. MXY has not flown since November 20, 2023, presumably also under maintenance.
  15. 9M-DAG has been spotted with hybrid AirAsia-MYAirlines livery today.
  16. It depends on the airline policy and the airport protocol. Satellite Terminal yes, they can since they are enclosed holding room but domestic gates are not allowed since it is not an enclosed sterile area. And the need to recheck security prior to boarding again will be a nightmare.......0.0
  17. Possibly due the new retrojet 9M-MLV grounding at CMB. Last night MH178 was cancelled. As for the A330 returning to gate, not sure what happened there.
  18. Thank you for the update. Bo Lingam stated earlier they were in negotiation to take five airframes. So far, these airframes remain in KUL. The rest have left the country. 9M-DAB (formerly Thai AirAsia HS-ABL) MSN 4126 -> “Airasia-MYAirline hybrid livery” 9M-DAE (formerly AirAsia Malaysia 9M-AFR/ Philippines AirAsia RP-C8970) MSN 3064 9M-DAF (formerly AirAsia 9M-AHU/RCF) MSN 4070 -> “Airasia-MYAirline hybrid livery” 9M-DAG (formerly Thai AirAsia HS-ABK) MSN 4088 9M-DAN (formerly Virgin America/ Alaska N640VA) MSN 3349
  19. KL-Almaty, as low as RM1499(one-way); RM2994(Round-trip) Travel period: 14 Mar - 26 Oct 2024 (Every Tue, Thu, Sat, Sun) Inaugural flight: 14 Mar 2024
  20. I read Bernama news article in 2019, almost 15,000 tourists from Kazakhstan visited Malaysia and about 10,000 tourists from Malaysia visited Kazakhstan during the same period. The same goes to Uzbekistan. Rather than fighting with Batik Air and Uzbekistan Airlines on the latter, I guess AirAsia X wants to test Central Asia market with Kazakhstan first. I wonder if Air Astana plans to return to KUL, their return was brought forward to last month but I am not sure if they actually return. Also, AirAsia X has been allocated Istanbul (IST) for some time, but no official launch announcement yet. IMO, IST will be very tricky with TK and EK dominating the market. Profit margin will be razor thin.
  21. A small news update: New selections for the ‘Chef on Call’ inflight dining service coming soon! Good observation. I think the winglet Wau has the same Wau as the tail's but without the songket. I don't understand why they only put the songket at tail but not the winglet, interior and printed materials. On printed materials and billboards, the Wau is heading towards the right. On the aircraft, it is heading towards the left. Therefore for the "Sustainable Tomorrow MAG" Wau follows the printed materials and billboards logo, heading towards the right. The good thing is they have dropped their previous all blue logo on printed materials and billboards revert to previous red and blue logo, but you can still find the all blue logo throughout their website. On a side note, on the new B737 MAX 8, Malaysia Airlines seems to revive its 1987's Malaysia Airlines logo with red widget on "m", "a" and "s" alphabets, but now it is in yellow colour.
  22. AirAsia X officially launches Almaty, Kazakhstan with free ticket giveaway to Almaty on its IG account https://www.instagram.com/p/Cz57gRKR3OC/?hl=en Did a check in their booking engine KUL-ALY, not bookable yet.
