  1. Aha, so that's when the comparison between the designs of Pierre Balmain and 'a UiTM student' came about.
  2. On 6 October, there was a message saying that they were upgrading the server. However, until today the website did not performed to its fullest. I didn't updated the Malaysian Aviation Thread 6 since 5 October.
  3. Yet another insider news from MH. The recent poll about cabin staff uniform triggered my investigating instict to look on the matter even further. From a fellow A.Netter, I was told that MH will soon introduce a fresh new (or minor update) look for all Inflight Supervisors, both male and female beginning 1 January 2008. A new kebaya is espected to be unveiled for the female Inflight Supervisors. Presently, female Inflight Supervisors wear sarong kebaya with yellow flowers motive. Beyond, in the coming months of 2008 and 2009, MH will be updating its male cabin staff uniform for a new and refreshing (minor update) looks. As a start, beginning 1 November 2007, MH male cabin staff will be giving up their songket lapel or service jacket during flight and will wear their classic jacket instead. What can we expect for the new uniform? Will it be a totally newly designed (and coloured) sarong kebaya for the female Inflight Supervisors? Will the new uniform for the male cabin staff improves their (profesional) look? It is no secret in A.Net that although MH is highly regarded as one of the best carrier in the sky, and the female sarong kebaya uniform received rave reviews from flying passengers (with constant comparison to SQ's Pierre Balmain Sarong Kebaya), the male uniform however drawn much critism. A fellow A.Netter who was flying CDG-KUL once quoted the uniform as reminding him of a uniform of certain bus conductors from a bus company in Europe, which is a pity according to him, as our MH male cabin staff are generally good looking. A nice uniform would surely compliment their (profesional) looks. Any thoughts? Azizul
  4. For those who have decided to switch from MH to SQ, just don't forget to ask for Muslim (Halal) meal when make your booking (if it is your religious requirement).
  5. Sure. http://www.acarsd.org/acars_search.html I am wondering the same too. But that's what I got from the flight number extraction.
  6. Tawau-Tarakan was a Twin Otter route, isn't it? Lucky for those in East Kalimantan to have the service revived. I hope MASWings will come to Pontianak.
  7. The service to MFM is a revival. MH once served it but pulled out in mid 1990s.
  8. Will MASWings revives the MH's abandoned KCH-PNK route? It would be great for us Malaysians in Pontianak to fly to Kuching on a Malaysian carrier. I think all of us had enough of Batavia Air. The last time MH's aircraft (Malaysian aircraft as the matter of fact) touched down in PNK was back on 31 March 2006. I still remember the day. Any (internal) talks about it? Also, there is a BIG RED AirAsia office opening up opposite Masjid Mujahidin (the state mosque for the province of West Kalimantan) in downtown Pontianak. Is AK (or QZ) planning to serve PNK in the nearest future? Any AK's insider news regarding this?
  9. At first glance I thought ths is the normal AK's promotion to MFM. But when I read it thoroughly, I was surprise that it was MH that is going to fly to MFM. And looks like the MYR 99 fare was snactched up. The cheapest ticket at this moment is on sale for MYR 698 excluding of taxes. Wow, looks like they have really started adding new destinations (after LHE was announced on 17 September 2007). A quick check at MH's website showed that MFM has been added into their online booking system. It will be served by B734s (thus snackbox and 2 cabin staff in Economy). But I am wondering about the flight number. The flight will be assigned with the number MH 7056 (KUL-MFM) and MH 7057 (MFM-KUL). It is a well known fact that all flight number started with MH 7XXX are for extra/charter flights. Is this service permanent or just for a specified period of time (like MH's service to Bahrain and Kuwait during Arabian peak summer season)?

  11. Are these flights to ferry the thousands of (legal) Bangladeshis stranded in KUL? I thought the government has a policy that deportation flights can only be done using MH aircrafts.
  12. This news is perhaps the normal political spin but I am more inclined to regard it as a prelude to the soon to be unveiled ECER (East Coast Economic Region), which is going to be masterplanned by Petronas. Maybe we can envisaged some petroleum-'caused' related (cargo maybe) flights to TGG in the future? Look at JHB, only a few days after the Khazanah's IDR (Iskandar Development Region) was announced, QR announced a once weekly scheduled cargo flight to Johor Bahru, non stop from Doha. By the look of it in this thread, TGG new terminal is outstanding! It is very beautiful, it will certainly make PEN and LGK (the international airports inside Sime Darby's NCER) look pale in comparison. And mind you, the company that I work with is the most prominent is the state of Terengganu. We have large stakes in the state's construction and oil and gas sectors. Of course I would welcome this development with WIDE open hands.
  13. I was even more fortunate to fly on Heliconia on MH's DOMESTIC run, MH 5 KUL-KCH on 25 November 2005. At that time, MH still operates the KCH-KUL-FRA flight. No. If you read the page I suggested thoroughly, you'll find out that out of the 11 B744s that MH operates, 2 of them were not retrofitted; 9M-MPK (Johor Bahru) and 9M-MPM (Melaka). Well, in A.Net, Helicornia was most photographed in ZRH and ARN. But 9M-MRD's most beautiful photos were captured in ADL, that was during one of its first flight with the new skin and co incidentally, it arrived in ADL as the first aircraft in ADL's new international terminal. It was welcomed with water canon salutation! Have a look at ALL MRD's photo pages in A.Net.
  14. Are you going too Juergen? Glad to see you here. Hopefully more A.Netters will join MalaysianWings.
  15. Merhaba Hakan, Is Irfan (Caliskan) a member of MalaysianWings? He captured the most prominent photos from IST in A.Net.
  16. That survey form looks 'serious'. It's OMR form, which is being assessed by the OMR reader, just like the SPM examination objective paper. Looks like MH wants many passengers to fill in the form (thus the usage of OMR form, instead of the normal questionnaire paper).
  17. All MH's B772 are of the Extended Range (ER) version. There are 17 of them, all of which are retrofitted. Have a look at MH's latest fleet page. Based on the photo database in Airliners.Net, 9M-MRD was spotted in around 210 locations worldwide, where none of it was snapped in NRT. I guess that should show your chances in getting the Heliconia.
  18. To have the snackbox being served in Economy for flights within Peninsula or within Sabah and Sarawak, would be an upgrade from the present inflight meals (which is just a cup of juice, isn't it?). That is an absolute NO WAY for MH. Hey, they are CUTTING cost!
  19. This is a feel good thread. Feel free to share your balik kampung trip for hari raya this year (which is predicted to be on 13-14 Oct 2007). Which carrier you'll be flying, what routes you'll be taking and on what class you'll be travelling? It is interesting to find out who will be flying the farthest this year to return to his kampung (perhaps Izanee), who will be flying on the most number of sector (although maybe it is not that far) in order to get to his kampung and worse, who will be spending the hari raya onboard an aircraft, still on his way to get back to his kampung. As for me, I will be flying on the following (outbound) flights: Sector 1 11/10/07 Thu PNK-KCH (130 miles) 7P 821 Batavia Air (B73X) Y ETD 08:00 ETA 09:50 - In Y as 7P is a LCC. Sector 2 11/10/07 Thu KCH-KUL (603 miles) MH 2513 Malaysia Airlines (B734) Y ETD 12:45 ETA 14:25 - In Y as I want to experience the 'snackbox'. Plus it is such a waste to fly in J as I can't savour the wonderful meals due to fasting. Overall, I will be flying on 2 sectors covering a distance of 733 miles and a total flying time of 2 hours and 25 minutes for my balik kampung trip. I will be in KL just in time for a last minute shopping spree. I will get back to work probably on 17/10/07 flying KUL-CGK with MH in J and CGK-PNK with 7P in Y. Care to share yours? 20. There are a few photos in this thread. Also, in AK's website, there is a pictoral description about the seat when one is making an online booking. Just click on the 'XL Promo' next to the price selection.
  21. I think the flights operated by the A330s will not affected (for the time being, considering B772s have seen cut). But if MH sees that it can pull a few from the cabin, they will proceed with it. As for the mixed domestic/international flights, I think it won't be effected because the second meal will be served after the flight leave BKI (no other airports that I can think of).
  22. So, right now we have: Confirmed - Long Stay: 1. honkit7 2. V Wong 3. Myself Confirmed - Short Stay (on transit): 1. Liam Gibb 2. Airpearl (from A.Net) Anyone else? Where will you guys be staying?
  23. Also, almost identical to Indonesia's Batavia Air ground crew.
  24. It has been 2 days since the snackbox takes effect. Any MalaysianWingers with the actual photo onboard? All we see so far are just promotional photos of the snackbox.
  25. Forumers in A.Net told me that, Air Asia's Man Utd liveried A320 9M-AFC arrived safely at MAN yesterday morning (1 Oct). We are also expecting the A330 here today (2nd October). They are staying for a couple of days. Anyone knows why the 320 and 330 were flown to MAN? Too soon for a new route I think. Some ManU events?
