  1. Good price there, Naim! It's only free if your transit time is more than 4 hours. My parents flew KCH-BWN-LHR in May and braved the 10hrs transit in BWN (both ways!). They joined the complementary city tour on the way out and had the transit meal on the way back.
  2. Oh, I just LOVE that asterisk * - you can put whatever number you like because taxes, fuel surcharge, security charges, adminstration fees etc. etc. are excluded
  3. Unbelievable! Now taxes and surcharges for KUL-LHR roundtrip is a staggering RM1,900+!!
  4. Thanks for the websites, Andi! Ctrip doesn't seem to do international tickets. I am having difficulty in obtaining fares from elong at the moment, but I will give it another try later.
  5. Hi Can anyone recommend travel websites (e.g. online travel agent, airline website) which enable you to book flights online ex-China. I am looking for Shanghai / Guangzhou - Kuala Lumpur / Singapore in particular. So far I have tried the websites of AK, MH, MI, SQ but I am struggling to find a China based online travel site (e.g. similar to that of Zuji in HK or Expedia in the US/UK). Many Thanks!
  6. Most of the mileage run deals in flyertalk are ex-USA, I wonder if there are similar forums which focus on ex-UK or ex-AUS offers? Some unbelievably good deals (pricing error etc.) doesn't even make it to the FT before they are gone.
  7. I wonder if the plane will be doing a touch and go, or a 'proper' layover? Either way, I just dont get the idea of it Economically and environmenatally, it doesn't make any sense.
  8. That's funny, Ewan!! Keep them coming! Can't believe you bought BOTH the hotdog and the Briyani. If every passengers is like you, AK will be making lots of money!
  9. Which means a ZERO fare return ticket for KUL-BKK actually cost RM507! This is shocking. I wonder when MH or AK will follow SQ footsteps in advertising all-inclusive fares. BI is already doing this on their ex-BWN fares.
  10. My worst experience was back in 2000 when travelling with Buzz (then low cost arm of KLM) BAe146 on Stansted-Berlin and Stansted-Paris & vv. The cabin air was very unpleasant on all the 4 sectors, as if someone has spilled karosene on the carpet. The smell was there throughout the flight, not just during pushback.
  11. On the contrary, they are upping the KCH flights from 3x to 5x weekly from 01 June. The schedule has changed too - BI 857 will arrive KCH earlier at 9.20pm and leave for BWN as BI 858 around 10pm.
  12. Kenneth, looking forward to see your RBA shots (or a TR )! RBA planes won't be making any night stops from June onwards, so catch them in the daylight while you can!
  13. Hah! They forgot about MH free baggage allowance is 5kg more than theirs! And how about seat allocation, you have to pay extra for the Xpress boarding. And the additional stress for getting in the queue even before the plane arrives and using the overcrowded LCCT.
  14. Kudos to MAS! Now AK is feeling the heat. It has always been the other way round in the past 7-8 years.
  15. I just found out I can't do maths! Good price there, Mohd! KUL-OOL and back for RM898 all in is unbelievably cheap!!! Just an update - under BI enhanced summer schedule effective 01 June 2008, Auckland will receive a daily service (up from three times a week). Some flights are non-stop and they do not arrive/depart at wee hours Bandar Seri Begawan - Auckland 1,3,5,7 BI071 1115/0200+1 1 stop BNE 2,4,6 BI077 1930/0835+1 Nonstop Auckland - Bandar Seri Begawan 1,2,4,6 BI078 0315/0930 Nonstop 3,5,7 BI072 0940/1720 1 stop BNE A big improvement especially for connection to/from KUL. Can check connection from the BI website
  16. No wonder there are merger talks between clickair/vueling and clickair/spanair in Spain... Does anyone know how Skyeurope is doing? I booked a flight with them for next month.
  17. haha, "lauya" brunei! That's a good one, makes me laugh!!! Naim, I agreed with Liam, you need to experience the airline yourself. I heard so many horrible stories about BI, but I flew with them twice in the past 12 months, and I haven't had any problem with them (touchwood!). If price is the main concern and you are flexible with the dates (BI only flies to Auckland three times a week), you should give them a go. Looking at the BI timetable, layover in BWN for KUL - AKL both ways isn't that bad. In fact it is only 40 minutes on the way back!! Oh, btw, if your transit time in BWN is more than 4 hours, you can either join a free city tour or get a complimentary meal at the airport. If you are a bit more 'adventurous' you can even consider flying out from BKI. Their ex-BKI fare is unbelievably good value. At the moment KUL-AKL is priced at B$1,423 (RM3,300) all in, whereas BKI-AKL 14-day return is B$866 (RM2,000). That's a difference of RM1,100! This is more than enough to cover a cheap AK ticket on KUL-BKI and back plus a night stay in a 4* downtown hotel (I am assuming you are travelling in pairs). Get some nice seafood before heading south! There is a catch though. BI is a dry airline, so if you are expecting free booze, find another airline!
  18. Emirates is another airline which does not separate fuel surcharge from its base fare Does UA impose fuel fines on redemption ticket? Was thinking about doing UA HKG-SIN with mates using Emirates Skywards miles. Not sure how that works out? NZ fare ex-LHR have fuel surcharge shown separately from the base fare , is it just LHR or zero fuel surcharge is only applicable to redemption tickets?
  19. Looking at the Royal Brunei website, a KCH-BWN 14-day return is priced at B$145 all in (approx RM330). Not a bad price especially comparing it with MH cheapest KCH-MYY return which is RM320!
  20. Hi Kenneth, is this fare inclusive of taxes? That is cheap. I thought all RBA planes make a night stop in KCH and fly back to BWN the following morning, are they running some ad-hoc schedules these days
  21. Yes, that is why I am trying to avoid flying Ryanair recently. Easyjet £5 baggage charge isn't too bad, although this was only £3.99 a month ago. I bet Airasia RM3 charges won't last long. Azri, you have overlooked the fact that neither Ryanair nor Easyjet impose fuel surcharge or the so-called adminstration fee. And unlike Airasia, their advertised fares are inclusive of all non-optional extras, e.g. airport tax, security charges and UK passenger duty.
  22. If you think MAS BTP is bad, take a look at this... The 'enhanced' summer schedule makes no reference to added frequecy, but all flights to Sydney, Shanghai and Denpasar will be suspended! I wonder how long the recently introduced BWN-KCH route will last...
  23. T5 isn't the only high profile project in the UK that suffers from a PR disaster - there are London Eye, Millenium Bridge, Wembley stadium.... I do have some symphaty on British Airways, the public seem to be pointing fingers at the airline. BAA is partly responsible too, and they are not the greatest airport operators around.
  24. Typical Bristish, Can't wait for the 2012 Olympics!
  25. SQ and MI do serve snacks on some of their very short flights - e.g. SIN-PEN, SIN-KCH. The only difference is there is no 'box' and these snacks are served hot (or warm
