  1. Most international tickets aren't reversible (e.g. LAX-KUL fares aren't the same as KUL-LAX fares). Id love it to be - Id save a lot for my flights to EU or Cairo
  2. That (KL811/812) was a summer seasonal flight. Still unsure if itll be back for NS18.
  3. As much as I would love a LAX-KUL nonstop, it wouldn't be happening in the near future. Nonstop flights on UA for LAX-SIN is yours for $380 USD! And if you are flying to KUL, the UA/NH JV covers it well - flights are frequently $400 USD or less. Then they have corporate contracts to fill up the premium cabin. Where is MH going to get the corporate contracts from?
  4. What is AK going to do with 24 seats (unless they are already blocking seats due to bilateral)? OD might not be using them, but did they apply for it and gave a tentative start date? Either way, both OD and AK can get around MY-IN bilateral using one of their ID's subsidiary like they have for flights to BOM and MAA. Let's not monetize everything. The smaller or less-funded carrier will always lose in this case. They should argue their case on why they are the best airline to be given the privilege to serve that route.
  5. I was literally kidding when I said new toilet smell, but seriously? lol
  6. KUL-TPE-YVR only operated twice a week (Wednesdays and Fridays only) - does that work for you It's a daytime flight both east and westbound. IIRC, it was MH 98/99. CA-SG/MY market is tiny. SQ pretty much relied on fifth freedom ICN-YVR to make the flight worked for them previously.
  7. MH also flew to Malé, Kolkata, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Brisbane, Darwin, Buenos Aires, Kunming, Chengdu (which MH plans to resume), Xi'an, Guilin, Yogyakarta, Vientiane and Krabi . Man I feel super old today for remembering those destinations I saw on the KUL/SZB departure board! Correct. Routing was KUL-TPE-YVR and KUL-TPE-LAX-MEX. Correct too. IIRC, the routing was KUL-SEL-PUS-KUL. Incorrect lol. It was the Mexican authorities that revoked MH's fifth freedom rights. MH and US had very liberal air agreements back then (not open skies, but very liberal; US-MY open-skies was signed in 1997). Mexico suspended Malaysia's fifth freedom rights on 01JAN1997. US3 was maybe US10+ when MH served MEX (but also only 2 airlines from each country were allowed to serve a city pair, e.g. only 2 American and 2 Mexican carriers were able to serve LAX-MEX back then).
  8. It's a route application, not firm (yet). MH also flew to Honolulu (way before D7 )
  9. MH applied for 3 weekly HGH services beginning FEB18 (in addition to the 3 weekly SUB which will begin DEC17). In addition, AK/D7 applied for new frequencies to MLE/SUB/FUK/HGH whilst OD applied for new services to KMG and TSN.
  10. MH will increase SUB to daily from DEC17 per airlineroute.
  11. Am I the only one who chuckled at "Exotic Malaysian Holiday Destination"?

    Peter Bellew

Has anyone considered that maybe Ryanair was the one who poached Mr. Bellew? They could have offered him a huge compensation package with tax benefits etc. I am not saying that's the reason, but it could be a possible reason or factor. Or maybe he's just frustrated that he does not have full autonomy in running the airline, but it's something we won't find out. PS: I think someone dropped the ball there. Ryanair's announcement caught MH and maybe Mr. Bellew by surprise!

Who in their right mind will publicly announce that they are planning to leave their job if they havent received a firm offer from a competing firm (with the exception of resignation)? Of course PB will say hell continue his full term and would welcome future terms.
  14. Do people not read articles anymore or is it too much work to click on the link and read the article in its entirety? It's right there in the article!
  15. Didn't know BKI was one of KA's first destination, but good to know. But AK has twice daily flights to HKG, so that could be a reason. MH stopped flying BKI-HKG a while back (when you could fly KUL-KCH-BKI-HKG vv on MH 60/61).
  16. KA will end its BKI flights wef JAN18 per airlineroute (currently served 5 weekly). Last scheduled service is 07JAN18. Also, QR will be showing lots of Airbus love for KUL. QR will only operate 332/333/346 flights to KUL for NW17/18. No more 787/77W.
  17. Maybe I haven't explored HEL as much as you did, but food is definitely way more expensive compared to London. And HEL is quite boring TBH. I've been there a few times - lovely city and people for sure, but not much to offer. A short plane/boat hop to Tallinn is very nice tho
  18. If you read AusBT, they didn't report that MH announced that they are going to send 332s to AKL. The only official word coming from MH from the article is: Correct!
  19. There isn't that much O&D between HEL and KUL and it'll pretty much be a transfer hub. Plus, a stopover in HEL could cost an arm and a leg for most Malaysians
  20. From AusBT: My highlight in bold. Current FCL dining on MH is just an additional main course option compared to J (excluding appetizers, canapés, desserts, and Chef-on-Call). This is the same as Lufthansa's ex-US routes between F and J meals (an additional main course option plus different appetizers etc.). But then again, I've never had mind blowing food ex-US on any airline in any cabin. JV with another European airline? LH Group is out - so KL/AF/AY/IB? God forbid, Wizz Air?
  21. I believe AKL is highly seasonal so KUL-AKL during Southern Winter is probably too premium heavy (plus no airline, IIRC, offers F to AKL other than SQ/EK). It should read all Australian *insert* except WA routes If you read what the press is reporting, you have PB saying it's going to PER, DEL, BOM, etc. and regional routes only. But then AuBT says it's going to CGK, BKK, DEL, BOM (at least DEL/BOM is consistent) plus AKL. I can certainly see those 332s going to SIN/HKG during peak periods, but didn't a MH insider said the 332s aren't going to do long-haul (because it's not configured for it)? MH126/127 is targeting ex-PER traffic rather than ex-KUL. The defunct MH124/125 was targeting ex-Malaysia/Europe.
  22. But yet doesn't buy MH tickets to those places. EK RM1 cheaper? Let's fly EK instead. Same goes for those who criticizes MH business product. They don't buy J tickets but complain it's sub-standard compared to SQ 😂. People who buys J will sure prefer old 332 flat beds than new BSI recliner J on MH 126/127/386/387 etc.
