Radzi 2 Report post Posted July 30, 2008 From Yahoo news. MELBOURNE, July 30 (Bernama) – A Malaysian member of an airline flight crew will be summoned to face a Sydney court for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 6,000 cigarettes into Australia. "The crew member, who arrived on a flight from Malaysia last Saturday, was referred to Customs following a routine quarantine X-ray examination," Customs said in a statement. "When Customs officers examined the crew member's baggage, they found 31 undeclared cartons containing the cigarettes." The 37-year-old Malaysian citizen was allegedly carrying 6,200 cigarettes when he arrived at Sydney Airport, the statement said without naming the airline. The maximum allowed to be brought into Australia is 250 a person. The man is expected to be summoned for attempting to smuggle the cigarettes and making a false Customs declaration, a Customs spokesman told the Australian Associated Press. -- BERNAMA So now the world will know how poorly paid we are. Alan B. 5 Report post Posted August 2, 2008 (edited) My own batch mate was caught for the same thing in the UK. It's not how poorly one is paid, but one's code of ethics. A lot of poor people don't make thousands of Ringgit a month but still manage not to break the law. Unfortunately, people want the quick and easy way. Edited August 2, 2008 by Alan B.
