Norman 1 Report post Posted July 8, 2008 Shanghai Pudong's Airport is a great place for freighter spotting . . . but sadly, throughout the three days I spent at this airport, not a single Shanghai Airlines Cargo MD-11F appeared in front of me. That remains a target for the future. In the meantime . . . KC Sim Well... KC... last Sunday while waiting for baggage clearance for our flight to KUL... She passed by... and I'd the 17-50mm on my camera  after heavily cropped.... Then while in the waiting area for our flight... still with my 17-50mm for those aircraft at the gate... She came in for landing.... and I was really craved for the 18-200 then.... BTW... KC... nice cargoes there.... Wished I'd the time....

Norman 1 Report post Posted July 8, 2008 tad a340 is a beauty.. Yup ... she really is.... I saw her twice... once PVG-XIY then PVG-KUL and I got the wrong lens attached... Anyway... here are some more shots before 'bye-bye Pudong..' after the MD11... I switched to 80-200 for these.. After security clearance... I roamed the departure lounge for these using 17-70mm... this was when the World Expo 2010 China Eastern A340 came in.... and my prized catch on that day is this... Hope can go back to Shanghai... & spend 3 days at least spotting...

KC Sim 2 Report post Posted July 9, 2008 Wow . . . super pics Norman!!! At least you saw the Shanghai Cargo MD-11F in good light, never mind the wrong lens. A good reason to return to PVG some day. And with your shot of the Yangtze River Express, I could just collapse . . . it is absolutely marvellous. Hope it comes to both KUL and SIN some day - in good weather of course. yeadrian : I would be happy to provide you with the high res shot of the Beijing 2008 B737. Plse PM me with your email address. S. Huang 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2008 Am planning a trip to PVG come Aug, does anyone know if there are good locations outside the terminal to do some spotting? Have a day free from work, and thought I'd take a chance to venture around the fences of the airport and enjoy the sweltering summer heat!

Waiping 12 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) I'll just post my photos here. Perhaps can use as reference in future planning. Went spotting at Hong Qiao in windy condition with light drizzle, temperature around 15 degree Celcius and wind gust 11 - 19 km/h. Visibility was at one time at 2200m only. CA 744 unedited version. Stayed at Hanting Express Hotel located at No.395 Hu Qing Ping Avenue, which is nearby the runway threshold. Wanna do spotting? Just stand in front of the hotel entrance. The next day at Pudong didn't fare that well either. Stayed at Jinjiang Inn Pudong Airport II which is just in between 2 runway and close to Haitian Shan Metro Station, just one station from Pudong airport. Can only hear aircraft take off and the whole day was cloudy with low laying cloud. Photos only taken at terminal building. Need to go back another time.
