Auckland spotting with S. Chang

Recommended Posts

Okay guys, here it goes. I met S. Chang through the aviation forums and back then he was known as "ZK-TAU". ZK is NZ rego suffix and ZK-TAU is the plane he trains on, but I think one of his mate had it crashed upon landing (but walked away unhurted).

Anyway, we have planned to spot for many times, but we always busy with some other things but managed to nail down 28 August 05 as our spotting day. I asked him to wear a flower (like a rose or something) so that I can recognise him. You know... one of those things you often do when you first dating someone smile.gif But he refused, instead he told me to look out for a green colour car at the lower designated spotting area at end of runway. He also said that he will be the only Asian dude around.

So the day had arrived, I was 10 mins late, as usual. Just to find out whether there is someone there or not. If he is ugly, then I won't be bothered, lol! laugh.gif But when I arrived there was an Asian dude sitting in the green car. He is not bad looking, so I guess it is okay laugh.gif. He was all ready to shot the birds with his weapon, the Canon 350D. I don't have a camera with me, so I was watching him shooting the birds.

There were birds like these:

The photos were not as great as it turned out to be due to heat and also planes landed on the 'wrong' side during the day. We thought we put it on MWings anyway. Hope y'all wouldn't mind.

Then we parted at 12:10pm as he has to go to do volunteer work for the NZ Coast guard. Good on ya, S Chang, make Asian and Malaysian proud! Until we meet again in September!

Here is my other pic from Tuesday 30 August, when one of my mate is leaving NZ back to Shanghai. He is taking the SQ 772 at the far end. I think SQ has 3 flights per day now. This night flight is rather quiet and leaves Auckland at 23:50 to arrive at SIN at 7:15 early in the morning! The Pacific Blue 738 (ZK-PBA) flies to BNE I think. Pacific Blue is the subsidiary of Virgin Blue, specialising in Trans-Tasman flight. Just look at the Wingtips, what a beauty!

Thanks for viewing guys. Kuhan, yes, seems that S. Chang will be my only spotting mate for now as we have common interests and targets smile.gif

By the way, we saw MAS' 777-2H6/ER for the day, it was 9M-MRJ. Hopefully the "freedom of space""will fly to Auckland soon to demonstrate how boring Air NZ's livery really is (on their 772 too) smile.gif

Pieter, you are welcome to Auckland for a spotting trip. If possible I will make a trip down to Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown with you for more spotting!

Thanks Gavin, I like the night shot too. But I doubt I can make it into Jetphotos.net or Airliners.net due to window reflection. Check out the lights and the "sky deck" on the photo.

Oh yeah , didn't realise the reflection previously

Doesn't matter whether it makes it into a.net or jp.net

as long as you're happy with your photo's and you like what you see is enough

Out of the shots that I take when I go spotting , I only upload like 10% of it

The rest of which is just for me to browse through and for me to shiok sendiri ..

SV,

Good stuff bro...i wish i can spot in NZ too...i guess one day spotting there, i will have enough of all the NZs..

Not too worry about uploading to known sites, sharing it with us here is better to me.. biggrin.gif

Maybe one day, you'll get a good DSLR and get better shots to keep and to share.

Try MyAviation.net...load it there and thats it. People wanna see, go ahead, if they dont..not to worry me much either.

Have fun in AKL..one of my classmate's works with Air New Zealand, i guess she is busy with her baby now.

Thanks TK and Gavin,

Yeah, I have gotten sick of uploading photos to A.net and Jetphotos.net and face the rejections later. I found myself spending quite a lot of time just to tweak the photos and re-upload them.

TK, I take it that you'd be a regular at AKL, won't you? Since the MH 777s are regular visitor to AKL. Hope to meet up with you one day and I bet S. Chang will be over Mars very much like Pieter with MAS' DHT laugh.gif

Do let us know, if possible, and we can hopefully go spotting at AKL! Catcha bro!
