X-wind landing at Wellington Airport, New Zealand

Recommended Posts

Found this interesting footage. I have been on such roller coaster ride when I return to my NZ "hometown" and it's really heart pouding. Pieter, are you looking to do one of these rides? Sneeze, you want to try too? Here's what you will be expecting ;)

For those who didn't know. Wellington is well-known as the windiest city in NZ. Wellington is also the capital city of New Zealand.

My last landing there wasn't that exciting. :(

Maybe I should try landing there again one of these days.

Got a weekend in WLG tentatively scheduled for some time in March. :D

The third a/c, B737 I think was doing a heart pounding approach .. and the last a/c in the video almost kissed the runway! :o

For once, I almost did... scary.... the plane sway to the side and pilot decided to do a go-around. Second landing was way better! A lot of people screamed at the first try.

Especially during spring and summer it is always windy.
