Prestley Shim 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2017 Time for an update and to revive this thread. This time I'll be posting specials and rare movements during the 13th WIEF held in BCCK, Kuching last November. Starting off with this little fella. Callsign POLICECHOPPER9. This can be seen over the city providing eyes in the sky for the Sultan of Brunei's entourage during the last day of the Sarawak Regatta.Another visitor visiting all the way from Seletar before returning to Subang. My first time seeing a Diamond DA62 aircraft.Prime Minister Najib Razak's aircraft parked at the RMAF Apron after having arriving the night before for the WIEF. The aircraft was then towed back to the main apron prior to his departure to Brunei.Another rare visitor. Kuching was host to many foreign private jets during that period.Stay tuned for part 2! GeO 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2017 Finally the moment Kuching Aircraft Spotters have been waiting for. Here comes the sexy flying machine. Lucky to get beacon shot! About 100 feet from the runway with Aeroville Mall construction on going. Before this, the construction site used to be spotting location for some of us spotters. And it's where WBGGSpotters @ Kuching Aircraft Spotters started. That would be around Early 2015 if not mistaken. She was given clearance to pushback into taxiway Charlie. Shots taken from GA Apron. Seen also in this pic is the tail of Bombardier Global 6000. N889JA Stay tune for part 2. p/s: Lookout for video MHA350inKCH coming out soon. Directed by yours truly and Walter Asa. Prestley Shim 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2017 Hello Guys! Awesome photos. Btw, can any of you help me clarify one thing.... has Wings Air (Lion air) started scheduled services to KCH from PNK using ATR?.... I did a dummy booking seems they have started it. twice daily flights if not mistaken. Recently on Fr24 schedules we have been noticing Wings Air operating PNK in the morning as well but we dismissed it as a glitch. I have yet to notice such flights on the airport FID screens. But it seems odd that a new carrier starting its service here seem to be doing so without any mention in the press.
szesyn 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2017 Thanks for the pictures guys. Great stuff. Just sharing my nostalgia - I finally found this 1970-ish Malay film online - which was shot mostly in Kuching. The movie plot is nothing to shout about but opening scene, you will see a cabin shot of Malaysia Airlines System's classic B737-200 first class. Fast forward to 17:40 and you will see Kuching airport when it was still operating at what is now RMAF https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNqtFqBTw1U

Prestley Shim 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2018 Just realised I forgot to upload content from the A350 route proving flight last year. But better later than never. Part 1 - ArrivalI'm used to seeing the A330 coming in for approach. It's quite distinguishable with its high nose attitude and landing gear sticking out with its big trailing edge flaps. Like a duck coming in for landing. This however was quite different. Coming in over the threshold of runway 25. And here's the flare...And touchdown!Reversers were already stowed by the time it rolled past intersection A1. Part 2 - A Closer Look Let's start off with a front on shot. Face to face with the raccoon eyes. Here she is full length, parked at bay 9. MABapron3 Part 3 - The Departure Pushback onto taxiway C. It started to rain heavily during the pushback. Took full length runway departure despite the light load. Those engines are really powerful judging by how high it came across the terminal. Crossing fingers to see another one of these here again soon.
