Eric M 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Hi late afternoon today, an Iberia Airbus A320 (EC-ICV) was evacuated after emergency landing on AMS rwy 27, by using the escape slides. The flight left AMS little before this for a scheduled flight to Madrid. Some passenger in the cabin made a clear notice of a bomb-threat, and the captain made the immediately decision to return as soon as possible to AMS. The aircraft was evacuated after landing next to the runway on a remote stand, and the passenger who made this threat got arrested by Dutch military police services. The aircraft is searched by special dog-patrols and nothing of serious matter has been found. The identification of the arrested passenger is not known at this time. Seth K 3 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Iberia flight returns to Amsterdam after bomb scare AMSTERDAM, Netherlands – An Iberia Airlines flight bound for Madrid returned to Amsterdam's airport Friday after a passenger claimed to have a bomb, and the man was arrested soon after landing, authorities said. An official at Schiphol airport said the plane's crew subdued a man in the rear of the aircraft, and customs police with drawn weapons arrested him. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. Iberia Flight 3251, carrying 156 passengers, had just taken off when a passenger said he was going to detonate a bomb if the plane did not return to Amsterdam, according to an airline spokeswoman in Madrid who spoke on condition of anonymity because she is not authorized to give her name. The plane returned and the passengers were evacuated via emergency slides. Police arrested the man, apparently without resistance, and searched the plane for explosives. Dutch television said it was unclear if the man had any explosives, and no motive was immediately apparent. The aircraft, with its slides down, was visible from the terminal. The TV report said emergency procedures were automatically put into motion, and passengers were evacuated quickly. Police with dogs searched the plane. Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Guys, Was also, slightly, mentioned in my "highlights" topic last night...saw the aircraft really make a short and visual approach for runway 27 last night while going home by bus at around 5.35pm and was surprised then already, why it wouldn't fly the usual normal ILS-approach Luckily, nothing was found on board the aircraft, or the passenger's luggage; quite scary to leave the aircraft via the emergency slides, I suppose Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
