Flight Insurance Coverage

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, need to ask if any of you knows how does the insurance work if there's a separated itinerary on a connecting flight.

Like flying on MH from KUL to SIN from 21st Mar till 30th Mar, then have a connecting flight on TZ from SIN to OOL from 21st till 29th Mar.

If I were to buy MH insurance, would it cover me even if I were in Australia? Or I should just buy insurance on TZ?

Some enlightenment here would be much appreciated.

I suggest you buy from travel agency...I don't think mh and tz has interlining...thus each insurance only covers their own segment...but if you buy from an agency...it covers from the day you depart thru to the day you arrive home...Australia is rm36 or so not, more than 100...I think...

You need to buy insurance from first day of journey till last day of journey. For e.g. take a look at https://secure.acetravelinsurance.com/ATIMY/?gclid=CLbnqanEjb0CFYkl4godZlkAjA

Since we r on this topic....does travel insurance cover incidents like terrorists bombing n natural disasters like earthquake or typhoon ?

Different providers have different coverages. Check each one out, read fine prints too.

Okay. So Since I have multiple flights from KUL to SIN on MH, then SIN to OOL on TZ, then OOL to MEL on TT, then MEL to SYD on TT, then SYD to SIN on TZ and then SIN to KUL on MH, I should go with travel insurance like Ace then?

Rather than buying insurance from airlines?

I believe 'Flight Insurance' only covers the particular flight segment only, it does not cover anything on the ground which is not flight related. However, 'Travel Insurance' is different, it covers the flights as well as the duration you spend abroad.

Correct me if I am wrong

I normally opt for the annual worldwide plan. But again, travel insurance here in brunei are expensive (maybe because only two or three companies offer them). It costs me BND375 annually. There's the Asia only option available for half the price.

Axa is the cheapest for usa...I agree...I bought an annual just because it was a few dollar difference...but it also depends on the travel agency you go to...some 'insist' on a particular plan /company...
