SS Lee 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2014 Thanks. Didn't see that one coming till it was really close. Have been seeing the police chopper doing rounds all over Penang Island in the past week. Sometimes flying quite low too.

Second time witnessing a go around. This one made one sharp turn very close to the runway. SS Lee 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2014 Spotting is fun, but what's more fun is when it starts to rain HEAVILY just a few meters before you reach the optimum location. Making the best of the situation, here's the outcome. MIR 2 Report post Posted September 3, 2014 Virgin Australia newest ATR72 VH-VPJ has started its delivery flight today, from Toulouse to Australia as SXI 1417. Most of their previous delivery flights have routed via Penang. SS Lee 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2014 Thanks for the update MIR. Don't see it on FR24 so I guess it must have landed in Nagpur already. I think at this rate, it should be in Penang by tomorrow. It would be really great if it arrives on a weekend instead. Better chance of capturing it.

Looking forward to more sessions like this. On a side note, managed to see something on FR24 today. Operating as MH5xxx on the KUL-PEN sector, and MH8062 on the next one from Penang. Saw it making several circles before landing, possibly due to the weather as there was a go-around performed by a MAS 738 shortly before. Anyone knows if these flights are common to Penang? Would like to snap a MAS triple 7 in Penang.
LaurieB 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2014 Good shots as always SSLee. I haven't been down to the airport for quite some while. Must take a trip there again soon. The MAS 777 flights might be tied into the Hadj schedules. Possibly MH5xxx was a positioning flight and MH8062 was en-route from Penang to Saudi Arabia.
