SS Lee 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2014 Continuing on, IMG_5531e by sslee86, on Flickr MAS 734 (9M-MML) I would say the sound coming from this aircraft's engine when it flew overhead is comparable to that of the 77W And of course, the star of the day IMG_5557e by sslee86, on Flickr SilkAir's First B738 (9V-MGA) Sadly though, missed the arrival of Garuda's CRJ-1000 on my way to the departure area But I got rewarded with this. This Eva Air is running a bit late as it was scheduled to go up at about 10am. IMG_5595e by sslee86, on Flickr B-16401 And here's the next aircraft. Just FYI IMG_5661e by sslee86, on Flickr Thanks for viewing
LaurieB 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2014 Good shots as usual SSLee. Must try and get the Silkair B738 soon.
SS Lee 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2014 Thanks Laurie. Silkair's 738 doesn't come everyday, and when it does (I took this on Saturday), it reaches at 12 noon and departs 45 minutes later. Have fun spotting
DaTan 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2014 I just saw Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency Bombardier 415 water bomber dumping water on top of Penang Hill's forest fires I will try to get some photos with my smartphone. No fancy zoom lenses. From what I can see from the flight path, they are picking up water from the northern strait (those living in Gurney Drive will have a good view)
SS Lee 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2014 It just flew over my area. Must have been a refuelling pit stop. Wonder if it will come back later again.
DaTan 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) this is the best I could get. Cropped picture from my Lumia 1020 someone uploaded a video too Edited February 26, 2014 by DaTan
SS Lee 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2014 Nice timing of the water bombing. Imagine having to fly back and forth to collect and drop. Not to mention to refuel also.

SS Lee 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2014 Damn am out of Penang now..... Well to make you feel better, unless you are near the water scooping areas / burning forest areas, it may be quite hard to get it. They fly rather low and at places with taller buildings, could only get a short glimpse of it. What camera and lens do you use for these shots? I am using the EOS 600D with the 18-135 for most of them. For close-ups I use the 70-300.

SS Lee 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) A Bombadier Global 5000 came in today sometime in the afternoon. Not sure of the registration but originated from Hong Kong. Thought I saw a B-xxx. It had a horizontal line and a blue star on the tail though. Moments after that, an EVA Air Cargo 744F came in as well and performed a Go-Around. Guess the wind was unforgiving. You could hear the engines revving up. Both used runway 22. By any chance if anyone was there at that moment. Would have been quite an experience. MIR 2 Report post Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) I've been informed that Atlas Air B744F (N476MC) arrived Penang today from Abu Dhabi. It is operating on behalf of Etihad Cargo. There were also rumours that an IAI Astra SPX (B-20001) was in Penang yesterday. It is a target tug based in Taiwan. Edited March 13, 2014 by MIR
SS Lee 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2014 MIR Posted Today, 08:32 PM I've been informed that Atlas Air B744F (N476MC) arrived Penang today from Abu Dhabi. It is operating on behalf of Etihad Cargo. There were also rumours that an IAI Astra SPX (B-20001) was in Penang yesterday. It is a target tug based in Taiwan. OW NOO...... I saw it on flightaware this morning that it was due to arrive at 3+AM today. But the status was "Delayed" (still showing delayed now). Thought that it would arrive later or even tomorrow. Had hoped to snap it. As for the IAI Astra, also the same information from flightaware; "Delayed". Oh well, let's just hope that it will come again (and hopefully when I am around with my camera ) Here are some shots from last Sunday. Lots of Airasia A320s. Winds must be strong and blowing from all directions. They used RW22 this time round. The haze was not helping with the shots. IMG_6635 by sslee86, on Flickr 9M-AJD IMG_6651 by sslee86, on Flickr 9M-FYK - Had never seen a smoother landing. It simply fused with the runway IMG_6669 by sslee86, on Flickr 9M-AQI IMG_6681 by sslee86, on Flickr 9M-AJB - Close relative to the first one. Floated quite long above the runway before setting down Want to learn some dance moves? Here we go.... A right, then a left, then an up, and then down together. SS Lee 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) Hey Raymund. Alright, will let you know. Atlas Air's 744F is well on its way to Shanghai Now Edited March 13, 2014 by SS Lee
SS Lee 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2014 Continuing on. The winds changed and landings were now made using Runway 04. I was very certain that an A320 departed using 04 just before an ATR came in on 22. IMG_6720 by sslee86, on Flickr First to greet me on 04 was 9V-JSE. The haze was quite bad and coupled with the 4PM sun, it made it difficult to track a plane coming in from afar.
