Checking in ceiling lamp as checked baggage

Hi All,

 

As per the topic.. is it okay to check in ceiling lamp as checked baggage for my upcoming flight from SZB - BTH ? It will be put in a box.. with lots of newspapers for padding to prevent it from breaking since its fragile..

 

Is it considered a dangerous and not allowed? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Don't see any problem with the item, but how about the size? Will it fit the overhead compartment?

hi radzi. im not planning to carry it onboard as hand luggage but will be sending it as checked baggage. mmm its pretty big. probably as big as a normal luggage size

Ah, sorry, missed it out. As a checked baggage it should be okay, but make sure the item is well padded. Luggage handlers are not known to be gentle.

Second that - they also do not understand the "FRAGILE" labels...

FRAGILE is an alien word for them although some of them have been working for ages...anyway, Im greatful that we have them to make our journey easy, with a hiccup sometimes.

And take out any fancy keychain u have on your luggage.. I've lost my remove before flight thingy from my checked luggage..

Perhaps baggage handlers were just following instructions ?
