Once weekly?

Wahh...long holiday for the crew!

More like a very SHORT stay. They crew would most likely have the minimum 10 hour rest as the flight arrives 1110 and departs 2340. Out of base crew only need 10 hours rest and 12 hours at base between flights.

In all probability, the crew for the flight arriving in KUL will position to BKK for the flight home to Almaty. BKK is served up to five times weekly.

Congratulations to KLIA for netting yet another new airline . . . Air Astana's beautiful B763ERs were former KLM birds. This calls for yet another Saturday jaunt to KUL sometime in November.

Great news indeed; now I would be able to fly AMS-ALA-KUL v.v. ;)

I've seen the Astana ah-mois at the crew-center often: they are really stunning (except the odd Russian girl - no pun intended) !!!

Alan, your WRR (Work & Rest Regulations) are probably based on the Malaysian law, as with de-briefing and reporting times, it would be less than 11 hours rest, and with a shortened rest, the next duty-time will be limited/reduced; most probably, K C is right, and they'll dead-head from/to BKK after their KUL trip... :pardon:

Kazakhstan's national carrier Air Astana is launching a weekly service from the nation's largest city Almaty to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

The once-weekly service starts on 31 October and Air Astana will operate a Boeing 767 on the route. Passengers needing to return earlier can go via Bangkok using fates through Astana and its partner airlines, says the carrier.

Kuala Lumpur is the airline's sixth international destination in Asia after Bangkok, Beijing, New Delhi, Seoul and Urumqi.
