Emirates adding more flights to Kuala Lumpur using A330-200

Recommended Posts

whatever it is the check in people say - Emirates is delinking Jakarta from KUL AND will add a further 3 x weekly A332 services (on top of 9x weekly 777-300ER).

ALL KUL flights will be terminator flights.

What more can we say? MAS has screwed up big time ...Emirates, SIA, Etihad and Qatar will take up the slack. Good for them la. Personally, I would love to see MAS prosper but they have decided to compete with AK instead. Oh well. Each to their own.

The main thing is for KUL to open up to foreign carriers - KUL is not exactly a big business destination; placing restrictions for foreign carriers coupled with low yield and intense competition from BKK and SIN is not helping us. This is on top of the cargo leak to SIN.

Look forward to seeing the EK A380 in KUL!

Didn't they already open up KLIA a long time ago ? They constantly have talks with foreign carriers, lure them with so many incentives that not even MAS is enjoying such as free landing fee and many more. But all the foreign carriers are just not interested in KUL.

EY has 6x weekly flights to KUL at the moment and only 3x weekly flights to SIN. I wouldn't be surprised if one day they announce SIN to become daily flight and KUL stick at the current 6 flights a week only.

KUL is not open to foreign carriers. our bilateral deals are very restrictive to protect MH from competition unlike SIN or BKK. Lee Kuan Yew even said that the priority is for SIN to survive as an international hub - even at the expense of SIA. SIA had to get their act together and fight openly with major world players in order to survive - look at them now.

Totally agree with your statements Izanee and Isaac. However, I must point out again, that SIN and SQ have survived the hurdles and now can only laugh at what MH and KUL have become. Also Isaac, KUL has always been deprived of foreign carriers for the benefit of MH and in the long run, we all Malaysians are the loosers. The more they open up routes to various airlines, the better prospects there are for KUL as a hub. Maybe if MH was not spoon fed too much, it would not have become what it is today and as a result KUL has suffered the consequences.

Its always pleasing to hear that other airlines are increasing services to KUL, which means more business for KUL and more work for MH and MAHB. But on the contrary, we can only imagine all the "oohhs and ahhhs" from MH quite often. Sadly, MH has always been my favourite airline but the way it is heading now only worries me more about the prospects of seeing MH exist in the next 20 years or so. Hoepfully all our "cuc and cicit" cna have the opportunites to experience MH and see them alive. LOL !!

..... that SIN and SQ have survived the hurdles and now can only laugh at what MH and KUL have become .....

The way the world is heading nowadays, doubt if the SIN and SQ chaps will pause to "laugh" at competitors - probably scheming to knock in an extra few nails into the casket. That is assuming they still regard KUL and MH as genuine viable competitors :)

SIN and SQ now have profited from the opening up of the KUL-SIN route.

4 flights by SQ 772, 4 flights by MI 320, 2 flights by TR 320 compared to 6 flights by MH 330/734....hmmm...

KUL still has its uses for SIN - it will be a feeder airport to enable them to expand even more.
