  1. is the painting of the new livery subsidised by the government or that is done for free?
  2. if i was the engineer, i'd prefer to say that there's a bomb on board and get the defect rectified. at least they would have given credit to them for once, at least.
  3. there was a documentary on flight 93 on sunday. i watched it completely. it was heading to san Fransisco from newark before it was hijacked and rerouted to head to washington DC after it was hijacked, but then the pax fought back..it was said through the cockpit voice recorded that during the final moments before crashing into a school field, there were voices of more than one person in the cockpit. it was said that the hijackers were aware that the pax could overpower them, so as soon as they were trying to gain access into the cockpit, they crashed it at a speed of about 500mph.
  4. OT a bit, go make bookings now...loads of 88cents tix(local), RM8 tix and RM48.88 tix up for grab..travel period in 2008.
  5. wow..they're planning to have all the state of the art aircrafts on their back eh? this is a huge news..
  6. but at least he could have done some research before blatantly shouting out in the public. i bet you after a little bit of research, you would come into contact of factors such as traffic, weather, aircraft fault, etc. no matter how much you've studied to become a medical doctor nor being a philosophical doctor, you have still proven yourself a true Malaysian. speak first, rest later..
  7. another JV is currently in planning from what i heard in the engineering dept, hong kong airasia.. oh my..
  8. as mentioned in the other thread, the order has been confirmed but haven't been made public.

  10. this was confirmed by tony yesterday, stating that they would start operations in 2008, with 2 initial aircrafts. i don't know if they're getting the 737s or the 320s.
  11. just a side note and to be off topic, AirAsia signed to buy another 25 more a320s making it a firm 175 orders. and just now, tony announced a 2 month bonus for all staffs and an additional allowance for those who have contributed a lot towards the company. loads of good stuff happening for them right now.
  12. i guess not as they still do have limited number of allocation for xpress boarding per flight. they can't satisfy too many people i guess as the ultimate aim is to fly. no open tickets and you're confirmed a seat, so i guess it doesn't matter whether you board in first or last. 2 cents.
  13. i'm not speaking as a loyal employee of the company or what. and 5 years of success is more than enough to speak for itself. and saying that we're proud of the LCC concept and we have full faith in it is practically not being cocky. it would be cocky if they were running in the RED and having loads of problems just like Adam Air and we still kept saying this is a success which will never be achieved by anyone no matter when. all i'm doing is giving the credits they deserve when it's due. and five years for a concept which have been proven to be successful is good enough. unless, we're the pioneers for the LCC concept and nobody has ever come up with one. and i affirm what i said earlier, there is no stopping them. if you're going to harp on issues of a crash/a hijack/or a malfunction which would destroy the whole LCC concept, i'd love to harp on the free fares, outstanding achievements and the utmost important one, the record of the airline is still at a applaudable level. and yes, at the end of they day, it's your choice that matters most, not mine or his or even hers. cheers.
  14. i'm not being on their side for nothing. bigger airliners have had bigger marks in their history, yet nobody talks about them. why? just because they're a full airline. do agree with you that it'll take one incident only to ruin the image, but think again as the proportion isn't running smoothly. the LCCs are always the ones that are being picked on. i hear all kinds of things people say every single day, and i can assure you maybe 20% of them were in favour of the LCC model although i can bet you that 80% of them only fly on these LCCs although they have a thousand and two complaints. it's always the case of people comparing a full airline with a LCC. unexpected and unforeseen circumstances cannot be avoided, but if we are awaiting eagerly for it to happen is just simply ridiculous. perhaps some might suggest that we wait for one disaster to happen so that we could make conclusion about the LCC model? speaking back in those days (or even now), they speak on previous records, but the trend nowadays is to speak and make judgments based on what would or could happen later? i leave that to you guys anyways :spiteful: purely my one and only cent.
  15. i guess it's unfair to talk about a crash before it could even occur. to date, we've got everything to talk about for sure. crashes will definitely happen no matter how safe you try to be, but that's not the point. the point is what we have been doing all this while to avoid things like that from happening. and i think we need not wait another 20-30 years before we authorise that the LCC model is the best. it's more than half a decade now and it's running strong. give it a few more years and it'll prove that you can do things differently and fill your pockets at the same time.
  16. everyone gets unhappy when they see us make a move which not many airliners can do. you don't need to have some sophisticated business model or things like that to survive. some proper planning from some proper hands would save you a bunch. airasia's expanding like no one can, and nothing is going to stop them. we can be red all over, but that definitely does not include our accounts book ;)
  17. good one Adrian. money isn't everything when you start off in this industry. it is the experience that matters. about the pay in AirAsia, you have to understand that they're a budget carrier compared to Emirates being a full airline. no doubt that getting in Emirates is an opportunity that everyone would dream of, but bear in mind that the interview process isn't going to be a walk in the park. i've seen about 900 people turn up for the interview and at last only 8 were selected! but of course, with the courage and perseverance, one wouldn't have problems getting in at all. i too had to endure hard times before i finally found something. like what Adrian says, if it is the love for the industry, anything that comes along shouldn't be a problem. don't be picky and choosy as you're in a fight with hundreds of them who are dying to get a chance to be part of an airline. in my case, i was a final round failure with MAS as a cadet pilot, a first round reject from AirAsia's cadet pilot scheme, but fortunately my last 2 tries as a steward with SIA and an engineering trainee with AirAsia prevailed. i had chosen the latter one as my life for now and i have no regrets whatsoever! good luck in being part of the airlines, i wish you all the best.
  18. they are strict no doubt..any airlines are strict when it comes to CC selection..i am proud that i made it to become a Singapore Boy, but unfortunately due to unavoidable circumstances, i had to decline the offer..they look for people with attitude, and someone who can carry the image of SIA..but they're humble enough to offer malaysians to be part of them..go grab the chance! they're recruiting in malaysia now. apply online, and the interviews will be held in september..cheers!
  19. OR you can try SQ also..advantage is you straight away get onto the wide bodies and fly all over..their interviews isn't that tough also..if you need pointers, feel free to ask me. :)
  20. i am just amazed by the speed at which airasia responded to the calls by the disabled..congrats tony.
