  1. For a company used to loss billions of dollar and manage to gain a profit tho' not significant is worth giving them a credit...
  2. so acceleration in retiring old aircraft, fleet renewal and extensive rationalisation unprofitable routes really pay off for MH.. Hope they can sustain this for more quarters to come
  3. Interesting article Airlines' tangled alliances evolve: British Airways-Cathay Pacific codeshare to Australia - for now Implications continue to emerge from the Sep-2012 landmark Emirates-Qantas alliance, the latest development being a codeshare covering Australia for British Airways and Cathay Pacific. Although the two are members of the oneworld alliance and at first blush may be considered partners, they had the most minimal of ties, owing to significant competition between them. That competitive situation still exists but other factors have changed: BA's once deep partner Qantas is now a competitor, aligned with Emirates, and is establishing a Jetstar franchise on Cathay's home turf in Hong Kong. BA and Cathay are united by a common enemy – not the first occasion this reasoning has spawned an alliance – but also other factors. BA has lost its Australian network access and Cathay fits in; meanwhile Cathay will be receptive to feed to sustain its positioning after China Southern and Singapore Airlines have made large capacity increases in Australia. Alliances are evolving, and this partnership will surely change – or go extinct – as BA becomes more familiar with new oneworld members Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways, with whom it will have more in common than it does with Cathay. 4. 100th A380 for MH in return for additional order of aircrafts maybe??
  5. not a suprise really.. its a no-brainer since CX have better product and consistency they also have premium economy offering. Besides, with Hong Kong plan to be their first A380 route make the decision easier.
  6. Hmm not really... as long as KLM continue to codeshare with MH and if AF join the bandwagon for Australia route its good enough for them. In the meantime, they did get some business from oneworld members as well.
  7. when its come to their promo ads.. certainly it does not look cheap
  8. About time.... not only LCC against SQ and CX in economy as well. More aligned with BA/AA i think?
  9. I thought the limitation is only on MH side only... no? since QF didnt fly to KUL so i guess they didnt use their right yet. Well i have no idea on how this air service agreement work.. Anyone can explain?
  10. So instead of sending their own metal they will just codeshare with MH... still hoping that at least they will start SYD-KUL.. if not, too bad for KUL then.
  11. So they will codeshare with EK on the KUL-MEL instead of codeshare with MH... so much for oneworld spirit 😆
  12. Really..? But they still have two more 380 yet to be deliver. So, 5 A380 cannot do the 2x daily LHR and daily CDG with HKG inbetween? If can i think the last one can do the KUL-NRT-KUL. Well.., i might be wrong then
  13. After HKG, NRT will be my bet to be added into MH's A380 network as compared to SYD With multiple destination in the USA from both JAL and AA, MH shld send their flagship a/c to carry on paxs with further connection to SEA.
  14. Dont really think that they will axe NRT-LAX. I think they did see a potential for that route. If not that route already being axe earlier during the route rationalization plan and not many ppls will question about it as compare if they plan to axe it later. In fact they did increase it from 3x weekly to 4weekly tho not really significant i think. What they need is a good premium product and going it daily, and the right type of a/c also play important part.
  15. heard the same thing... cannot give the exact fig. but if im not mistaken its somewhere 39.8/39.9 millions paxs.

  17. Sending inaugural A380 flight to CDG with special Oneworld livery is like MH giving middle finger to AF for denying their entry into Skyteam(if the rumour about it is true)
  18. The question now should be where is MND at the moment?
  19. The event will be held in KUL?
  20. I agree that there will be an excess of capacity if MH send A380 to serve SYD and MEL. A330 to SYD and MEL is not that bad.., its a new plane, they just need to upgrade their J product with fully flat bed and at least to be on par with CX or SQ. Too bad there will be no more F for SYD once 744 fully retired serving the route. IMO, maybe they can lease couple of 77W to include F and serve route that have F demand like SYD/MEL/NRT/LAX/FRA/AMS.
  21. Slighly related to the topic Airbus maker raises average list price by 3.6% PETALING JAYA: It would cost more for airlines to buy Airbus aircraft in the future since the European plane maker has raised its average list price by 3.6%. Its announcement comes at a time when its United States rival, Boeing, is battling to investigate battery-related problems for its much-heralded B787 Dreamliner. According to the new list price, the A380-800 would now cost US$403.9mil (RM1.22bil), A320neos US$100.2mil, A320 US$91.5mil, A350-800 US$254.3mil and A330-300 US$239.4mil. source: http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2013/1/19/business/12599085&sec=business But what really interesting about this article came from this statement
  22. Spotted this one during my trip earlier this month... a new space for MH, i believe?
  23. maybe they need to provide more HP air-condition around the lithium-ion batteries to prevent from overheating
