  1. Are you sure Angola Airlines has the sole remaining 743 (D2-TEB) in its fleet?
  2. Nice pictures Pieter !!!! now it feels that the airport does not even have an aerobridge and the gates (like you said) feels likes a jail. So now, no one should use Lisbon International Airport because of the poor "entertainment" .
  3. I hate to say it but there is a similar accident: Delta Connection (Comair) Flight #DL5191 (reg. #N431CA); it took the wrong runway (runway is too short) and crashed into some trees on August 12, 2006. But the cause was somewhat alike. Here is the map of crash site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:KLEX_US...omair_Paths.jpg
  4. I agree; MH and SQ are not competitors because they codeshare with each other
  5. I do not know if this topic is already being discussed, but I found two Cathay Pacific Airways commerials : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG14irzkXiQ&NR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nae4cVE8408&NR Tell me which one is the best one .
  6. I get it now ; I really got to stop paying so much attention to the news media
  7. The background was that the Malaysian Captain was trained at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and trained for Singapore Airlines . The point is that the captain forgot to tell the ATC that if there was a closed runway . When the accident was first reported, the news media said that the 3 pilots are dead The aircraft was cut into three pieces: Nose, Middle, and Rear; I believed the death toll goes like this : First Class: All Raffles Class: All Economy Class: 2/3 dead
  8. I like these aircraft ; They like signal the start of Malaysia's 50th anniversery
  9. Here's a small clip from the news about the near miss and the air traffic control system at the US :
  10. I found a website that has MAS fantasy livery (only one type) : http://www.freewebs.com/jetabout/mas.htm Feedbacks on the aircraft and the fantasy livery are welcomed .
  11. Yes because it shows SQ entering the Star Alliance family
  12. I found This crazy video in YouTube: its about testing one of the 747's 58,000 lbs of thrust engines. Test subject: Virgin Atlantic Airways Boeing 747-41R "Ladybird" reg. G-VAST and two cars . See the video : Enjoy !!!!
  13. Boeing said that stocks are high in their side, but Airbus/EADS lost some stocks . That means that Boeing of winning the aircraft war, thanks to the 777 and the 787 . Correct me if I'm wrong.
  14. Check out these examples of the 747: 747-400: http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5817558 747-200: http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5835250 The point is that the older -200 series has a little weaker engines, no wingletsa and has 8 windows on the upper deck and the new -400 series has winglets (as described by Azuddin), stronger engines, and only 3 windows in the upper deck.
  15. I want to know what is eveyone's favorite airline. Mine is Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines
  16. I guess the haze is just annoying for you? I know because I experienced it and it was very miserable
  17. What happened to the Air France flight that you are saying ?
  18. October 31, 2006 will be the 6th anniversary of SQ006, a Singapore Airlines 747-412, that crash on runway 05R during takoff . The runway that Papa Kilo (9V-SPK) crashed was under repairs. The flight was supposed to be a routine flight from Los Angeles International Airport to Singapore Changi International Airport via Taipei Chiang Kai Shek International Airport. The accident specs: ----Aircraft: Boeing 747-412 ----Crash Site: Taipei Chiang Kai Shek Int’l Airport, Taipei, Taiwan ----Registration number: 9V-SPK ----Accident Date: October 31, 2000 ----Passengers: 159 ----Crew: 20 ----Fatalities: 83 ----Survivors: 96 ----Cause: Cause: The aircraft began its takeoff roll in heavy rain and high winds. and the aircraft struck construction equipment, flipped over to its side, broke in three and burst into flames. The pilot missed some key warnings, including a routine preflight briefing report that warned of the hazard on the runway under construction and two signs indicating the number of the runway he mistakenly went down. ----Closed Runway for repairs (crash site): 05R ----Supposed takeoff runway: 05L From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore_Airlines_Flight_006 The captain of the doomed aircraft is a Malaysian. The aircraft is a "Tropical" 747-412, painted in 1997 to promote SQ's new First, Raffles, and Economy class cabins. After the accident, SQ promised to pay US$400,000 to every victim of the crash and 9V-SPK's the sister aircraft, 9V-SPL was changed back to original livery because SQ now believed that any of their aircraft that is painted in special livery is "cursed" Pre-crash photo: http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=412917 Aftermath : **** The flight number is changed from SQ006 to SQ030
  19. During boarding time for MH095, when a MAS personnel divides the group: First, Golden Club, Economy (Families with children and those with children), the families with children from a HUGE line wiht approx. 120 in line, so I think to divide that line in order to save time and board faster.
  20. I agree . The livery is a hybrid one: Singapore/Great Wall Airlines Cargo (obviously)
  21. The emgency collision avoidance system saved 189 lives . Now that is miraculous. The BA 777-236ER pilots did a very good job on the daring maneuver .
  22. I know that the topic is already being discussed , but I was looking through JetPhotos.Net and found this: Asiana's newest A320 (F-WWIM; going to be HL7753) is the very first aircraft in the whole Asiana fleet to be painted in this new and sweet livery : http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5838702 Comments on this aircraft are welcomed
