  1. My friend has responded to my query on this issue. I am copying her reply below (edited slightly as she replied using Malay-English rojak language) "My mother will fly with Emirates with the Marhaba service (about RM 100 extra for this service) on 15 Sept 07 and she will stay for 6 months. The airfare for Emirates is cheaper, only £500 including taxes. MAS is very expensive, 6 months ticket inclusive of taxes is almost RM 5000 ... " So it's EK to LHR with the Marhaba service at DXB lah ...
  2. Thanks for replying to my query as well as the best wishes guys! I will definitely do a trip report as well as post some pictures upon my return ... but between now and 1 June, its work, work and work Since my flights (both on Fridays) will be on a B772, I really wish I could get the MRD
  3. My family trip to CPT will just be around the corner, i.e. 1 June ... however, got tonnes of office work to complete between now and then Can someone advise whether I will be allowed to bring my backpack as well as my laptop bag as hand luggages into the MH 772
  4. Honestly, I'm not sure ... may have to email and ask her
  5. Cost is obviously a factor lah my friend In actual fact, the topic on Air Asia X which I started yesterday was also to enquire on her behalf ... cost is an issue lah
  6. I've got a query which I hope some of you (in particular Imran) could help out. I've got a friend (fellow Malaysian) who works and live in the UK. She is trying to get her mum to fly from KUL to LHR via DXB on EK. Problem is that the mum is not all that conversant in English hence she is worried about the mum's well being especially she is on transit at DXB. The question she's got is whether EK can provide some sort of special assistance (like the ones airlines normally provide for unaccompanied minors) to her mum especially when she is on transit at DXB
  7. It's been previously reported in the media that AirAsia X will start accepting bookings/selling seats online for their flights to the UK by end February 2007. We're now in the 1st week of March but still nothing yet from the airline. Anyone got any updates
  8. RM16,480 all inclusive for 3 Adults, 3 Children and 1 Infant I know that there's not much difference in flying on a 772 as compared to a 744 ... but it's just that a jumbo has this majestic aura about it as compared to a triple
  9. I took advantage of the MATF fares and got the tix for the whole family (3 Adults, 3 Children and 1 Infant). Will be flying out on 1 June and return a week later on 8 June. Both these flights (Friday flights) be on a 772 as the incoming flight from KUL on Fridays will terminate at CPT and will not proceed further to EZE ... and sadly it will not be a 744 on MH for me again However, on a brighter note, since it's a triple, me and Adam might get lucky if the 'supir' is a certain guy very well known to all of us here at MW. I've also got a former class mate of mine from my school days who is a 'supir' of MH's triple (he's not a MW member though) ... doubling the chances of getting lucky!
  10. Pieter - Does the KLM planes ever gets washed ... especially PH-BFA
  11. Not sure where you got MYR4,500 from Pieter The mock booking I did just now gave me a price of more than MYR4,500 but less than MYR5,000 per Adult ... just can't remember the exact figure though
  12. Noted and thanks I know. Furthermore the transit at JNB is only about 1 hour + My only concern is the price especially since it will be for 3 Adults, 3 Children and 1 Infant Thanks again for your tips and suggestions Talking about George; isn't this the town which the late SA cricket captain Hansie Cronje died in an air crash a few years back What about flying via the Middle East using any of the various airlines from that region
  13. MYR4,500?!? I'll do another mock booking later ...
  14. Pieter - This option was definitely explored when I did a 'mock booking' online recently There were 2 negative points about flying KL to CPT via AMS though. Firstly and the most obvious one is the total flight time of approximately 24 hours for each way (yes, I know this could be a non issue if I could break the journey and visit 'wonderful' AMS). Secondly (and surprisingly) the price quoted was almost 3 times more than SQ's quotation (what Seth wrote earlier was about the right price for SQ). It was also slightly cheaper if I chose the MH code-shared flight to AMS instead of the KL one Thanks for your suggestion Azman. It has 2 coincide with the Msian school hols as 3 of my children are already school-going come next year. Will consider the George route as well ... flying SAA, albeit domestically is tempting The flight from KUL has to be to JNB then
  15. Guys - I have sort of done my research on this but would greatly appreciate comments from you on the options available in terms of airlines, cheapest fare, total flight duration, etc for the a potential trip of mine to Cape Town which is currently still in planning stage We intend to spend a week in Cape Town during the school holidays in August 2007 (yes, I know, it's still a long way to go)
  16. You can always file a Legal Suit against AK under the Common Law right Any lawyers out there? However, you should ask youself whether it's all worth it at the end as the maximum cost which Ewan could sufficently substantiate in a Court of Law would be just the 'No Show' penalty plus cost of upgrade to C class. Hey ... this is definitely off topic oredi
  17. Pieter - I doubt if anyone went spotting and took shots of the 'City of Bangkok' that day. PH-BFB arrived late at Gate C something (can't remember which one , will have to check my boarding pass again) from AMS around about 1545 hours and it was raining then. It also took off late to CGK about almost 1800 hours and again, it was raining and kinda dark as well I will provide the details in my KUL - CGK - KUL trip report later

  19. They were still flying into KUL in 1999. A few of my friends flew into SYD from KLIA to watch Manchester United play the Socceroos at the (then) brand new Sydney Olympic Stadium. They flew on a BA plane which incidentally also had a code share with Qantas.
  20. Anything but the PH-BFA, please ... I need variety Pieter I was also told by the people in KLM in KUL to call them back sometime in mid September for the seats allocation. I've requested 2 consecutive rows of seats A B C or H J K ... can't help it, I need window seats, especially with the 2 boys, Adam and Anas around
  21. Thanks for your response Pieter I knew you'd have a peep at my booking ... you missed my little baby girl, Nur Ashrina, flying with an infant ticket though KLM is the cheapest option to fly to CGK in November ... even cheaper than AK (for a return flight), and in AK you have to pay extra for your meals and there's no way I'm flying without having meals served onboard, especially with the kids around My only wish is that I won't be getting the PH-BFA (City of Atlanta) again (got that one twice ), as that was the bird I flew on during my trip to MAD via AMS in May last year ... a KLM Asia would be nice
  22. Hi Pieter! Short clarification from me ... the whole family and me will be flying (in fact we have paid and obtained our tickets) KUL-CGK-KUL on 18 November (KL809) and 25 November (KL810) (Saturdays both ways) It will be a full pax 744 and not the combi 74E, yes By the way, wouldn't it be more economical for KLM to operate the 772 for this route
