  1. 6 hours on the ramp?? You must have a lot more in your CF card!!
  2. Don't care about my work stuff... this is my golf bag we are talking about. I cannot lose it. Period!
  3. oh oh.... have a 1hr. 40m transfer at BKK next month.... will my golf bag make it?
  4. Quality of pics and creativity outstanding! Nice to see some background too!
  5. Not so long ago, the swiss terminal was a One-world terminal. Then talks with BA fell through. The Star alliance lounge, which is quite good, is very far away from the terminal. Still, quite a number of the computer systems are not integrated. I once had an SK flight, but LX codeshare ticket, and I could not check in at the LX counter. I had to go to the Terminal 2. So this will make it easier.
  6. Most tourist will arrive in JNB and catch the connecting flight to George or Port Elizabeth. Then rent a car and drive slowly through the garden route. This is a very beautiful stretch between Port Elizabeth and Mosel Bay. George is right in between these two towns, and 3 or four days should be enough. There is a museum in Mosel Bay with lots of references to the same Portuguese and Dutch dudes who were in Malacca in the 16th century - your kids will find it fascinating if they have already had some history lessons. From Mossel bay it is a 4 hour drive to Cape Town. You could also stay on a game farm on the way to watch some wildlife and lots of Osterich... Then another 3 days in Cape Town should be enough, and fly back from there. Some people do the trip the other way around, i.e., start in Cape Town... But to do the above you do need 7 solid days... For Europeans flying *A, like LH or LX, or SAA itself, the ticket cost the same whether they fly to JNB only or extend to CPT/George...
  7. ha.. was in FRA last month - did not use the first class lounge so I can't comment. The senator lounges were not that good. Crowded with *golds, poor food selection, not very clean. I checked out both the lounges in A and B and also the busines class lounges in both. Not very impressed, especially after experiencing the Austrian Airlines lounge in Vie. So Keith, now I am dying to try out the FCT! Then I flew SQ - *A lounge in Zurich is very nice. But Silver Kris lounge in SIN... gosh, over crowded. The second time through I decided to leave and go to the SATS premier lounge instead for some space and peace and quiet. SQ is not such a great experience for me anymore because everythng about it has become difficult. Difficult to get tickets, difficult to get a nice seat selection, difficult to get space in the lounge, priority tags on your baggage is useless because everyone has the same tags. It is a victim of its own success. But I tell you what though, if something goes wrong, i.e., delay, missed flights, you want to be on SQ because their ground service is immaculate. Having flown MH earlier this year, I have to say I prefer MH in every aspect apart from the ground service, which is really really below par. Interestingly, as SQ starts to cut capacity with their new business class and start charging more, MH for me becomes a more viable option for business trips. On the issue of drink selection, my observation is that MH staff are not well educated on drinks. I mean, when they top up your wine they really top it up. Generosity is one thing, but proper drinking eitiquette/culture is a different thing. So I guess this is simply because most Malaysians do not have much experience with drinks. This could explain why they don't have the "good stuff".
  8. I can't really help you with plane tickets, but I can help you with the "what to do in Cape Town" part. I lived in South Africa for a year so know most places. Are you only going for a week? Wonder if you can get a ticket to fly into a town called George, and then from there drive slowly to Cape Town. George is in the garden route, and in my opinion, it is a must see if you are in the Cape Town area. If you take a Star Alliance flight, you might be able to get a ticket via SAA that takes you to George, and back from CPT.
  9. Congratulation to MWings for a job very well done! Sorry I could not make it - although i was in KL, had to attend brother's wedding, cousin's wedding, etc.etc...
  10. Anybody got me arriving- SQ108 on Sat. 18th and again on Thu 23rd? Definitely saw a spotter at the ladang on Sat. 18th.... with umbrella...
  11. Naim, good stuff.. and will even get better when you get the hang of it! Did you catch SQ108 on 24th? Someone was on it...
  12. wow all excellent shots. Raj, those 777 shots are awesome - those engines and fanblades come out nicely in the sun. Chaity - moon shot
  13. Look at Emirates... quite amazing for a relative newcomer.
  14. Tech problems happen all the time, but MH seems to have the bad luck of having spotters photographing their incidents sensationally... like the tail strike in ZRH and now the smoky engine... But well done MH for a succesful landing!
  15. gosh all shots are excellent. Just shows what a difference blue skies can make! Kevin, your new zoom lens seems to be very good. Chaity, awesome heliconia. Norman, that shot of 737 in the spot light is excellent!
  16. Nice Ek... is this the one with the red belly?
  17. Amazing is very cute! Iggy, congrats on your purchase! Your first photos are already looking very very good! Looking forward to more!
  18. Good shots Sneeze. So there is another reason to go to Macau other than gambling! Good luck for your exams!
  19. Yes Pieter, last chance to sample old Raffles Class. Hope next year's trip to OZ will be on new Business Class! The driver chased my tour group onto the bus, so the pic is a bit bluish thru the bus window. These other guys in the pics from a different group are luckier... 30mm... no crop! rare one in ZRH We have haze too... ZRH is a good place for R&R even if you are not a spotter....
  20. TK, Just came back from Joberg, Milo supply ok. African Milo boleh lah... But running low on the Kicap Tamin.... but will be back in KL end-november to re-stock for winter! Yes, 30mm shots! But back lit!! Ground shaking +strong winds when this one went by! Woo hoo!
  21. weather not always nice... but usually it was ok, but summer means it is a bit hazy... no mountains... On the normal ramp tour, you get this kind of pics, although unfortunately, backlit: can anyone guess the focal length for these pics?
