  3. Unless they did the sales fares on 'one way' basis which they did in 2005 MAS Travel Fair. Unfortunately they have stopped that in 2006 and back to the usual returns fares with restriction on your flight origin. There's a suggestion for you on how to fly back cheaply (as long as you u r OK with the hassle). Grab the AirAsia X $9.99 cheap seats for Aug when they open for booking next month. Once you secured the cheap fares from Airasia X, just hunt for the cheap EU LCC airfares to connect your Airasia X flight. As long as you don't have too much luggage it should be OK, if not will be pretty expensive to pay for the excess luggage.
  4. As long as it's cheap, who cares about cramp seat/cabin, after all it's rather expected and there will be thousands of people fighting for the cheap fares over the net.
  5. As usual school holidays and any long holiday weekend. As reminder those special airfares only applied to flight originate from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam only and full details will usually be published 1 day earlier.
  6. Yes, would be nice to visit the Netherland Tulips garden during spring time.
  7. Latest news release from MAS: http://hq.malaysiaairlines.com/mh/eng/abou...66-1E3F71EAD353 Time to plan holidays again for bargain hunters. 16 Jan, 2007 MALAYSIA AIRLINES' TRAVEL FAIR IS BACK TO DELIGHT TRAVELERS Subang (16 January 2007): The national airline will once again delight travelers, both in Malaysia and in selected ASEAN countries, with irresistible air fares and holiday packages during the one-week long Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair (MATF) from 31st January until 6th February 2007. During this promotional period, customers can get their hands on a wide array of attractive air fares deals as well as discounted Golden Holiday packages for both domestic and international travel. The value-for-money deals will be made available through Malaysia Airlines' ticketing offices and appointed travel agents both in Malaysia and in 6 ASEAN countries namely Singapore, Brunei, Thailand Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam. Bookings and purchases can also be made through the airline's website, www.malaysiaairlines.com or by calling the airline's 24-hour call centre at toll-free number 1 300 88 3000 in Malaysia. Malaysia Airlines Commercial Director, Dato' Rashid Khan said, "For this year's travel fair, our customers will have the opportunity to enjoy a longer travel period from 24 February to 30 September 2007 except embargo durations. This is in appreciation of our customers who gave overwhelming support to the previous MATF campaigns held since 2004. For MATF 2007, we are expecting more overwhelming response as we are offering 5 million seats under this campaign.” "The promotional deals offered are in line with our new fare structure launched on Monday, 15 January where the most competitive fares are offered. We urge our customers to take advantage of this opportunity and plan their travels with us well in advance. Further details of these attractive offers will be announced within the next two weeks." The MATF, an annual air fares and packages promotion campaign, has been organized for three consecutive years since 2004 with the first virtual fair introduced in 2006. Customer response has always been overwhelming, and last year's fair generated sales worth RM 180 million.
  8. Well Yusof if you want to visit Liam u can take Tiger Airways (SGD21.52 one way right now), of course to have to travel down to Changi to catch the flight. Melbourne is 4 hours away by flight from Perth.
  9. Here's the news link: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../252133/1/.html Summary: Service starts on March 23. 4 flights per week. Promotions fares from SGD22 one way excluding taxes and surcharge (booking already started). Another low cost options for those who don't mind travel down to Singapore to catch the cheap flight to australia. Once the KUL-SIN route is opened for Tiger & AK, this route will be very attractive to Malaysian as well.
  10. RM2640 (lowest fare) for KUL-LHR-KUL under the new structure? Come on MAS, I know what you offered during your MAS Travel Fair which is much lower (RM2000-2200) + there are plenty of under RM2000 airfares to LHR & other EU destinations offered by some of your competitors during MATTA Fair. Afterall nothing could beat AK 1 millions free seats + their proposed RM9.99 on way fare to UK with their AirAsia X.
  11. So Keith what will happens if have no choice but fly longhaul in economy for more than 8 hours? By the way Virgin Blue allowed passangers bringing and having their own food?
  12. Thanks for the info, hopefully they could make it to KUL by end of this year.
  13. Haha, I guess the issues here is 'LCC'. Just like some chinese parent in KL who prohibit their children from riding motorbikes (due to safety issues).
  14. You can still book online and just choose the option to pay via bank (confirmation/Reference number will be given with certain dateline to make the payment over the bank's counter). Came across this option when I made the payment via credit card.
  15. Hi Naim, good to know you'll go BKK with these $0.00 W Fares. I'll bring my parent to Macau, never been there. I only know the food are pretty good and the hotel is cheaper (Sun - Thu) compared to HKG. Been to HKG before don't really like the city as people in general just rude (because we walk too slow on the street ), will keep the options open as it's just 1 hour away by boat (return fare about RM140). Tpe is really nice (lots of great food, friendly polite people and super clean toilet) and I really hope AK will start their flight to Tpe soon. Hi Prashant, congratulations on the 5 tickets u got . Afterall now we all know AK $0.00 fare offer is genuine as it's not just 1-2 seats per flight like some people said.
  16. Honestly speaking, I really appreciate what AirAsia has offered us and no complaints at all. Be the first to know the bargain, make up your mind when to travel and grab it during off peak hours. I grab 3 tickets to Macau on Tuesday 9 Jan (Member pre sale day) at about 7pm. Most of the dates I check for April $0.00 fares is avaialable. Key in all the necessary info and pay by credit card. A minute later confirmation email arrived and my card center called me to verified the transaction as well (to avoid fraud). Next morning (10 Jan - official sales day), checked the same dep/ret date and $0.00 fares all gone. On today, Apr till Sep all $0.00 fares for Macau all finished. Oct limited. Thank god, I did it during the member pre sales date. One more tips for those who are not aware, if you are doing the booking during member pre sales day, make sure you login first so that the booking can complete from A to Z. If you didn't login, you'll receive Error message half way through.
  17. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp.../251820/1/.html Indonesian official says part of missing airliner found JAKARTA : Part of the wreckage of a missing Indonesian passenger plane that vanished off radar screens on January 1 has been found at sea, search and rescue officials announced Thursday. The official, Air Marshal Eddy Suyanto, said part of the plane's right tailfin had been found by a fisherman 300 metres (1,000 feet) from shore and identified by the airline, Adam Air. Frans Wenas, one of the investigators, told ElShinta radio: "The thing that was found is part of the tail and it fits the plate number of the plane. "But we have not determined when it was separated from the plane." The Boeing 737 had 96 passengers, including three Americans, and six crew on board when it was reported missing halfway through its flight from Surabaya on Indonesia's central Java island to Manado on Sulawesi island. Search efforts had been focused in recent days on the waters off Sulawesi, with a US Navy ocean survey ship equipped with sonar scanning the seabed after earlier reports of large metal objects several thousand metres down. Canada and Singapore also sent aircraft to join the search, while on land rescuers combed the rugged terrain of Sulawesi island. Suyanto said the piece of debris had been found by the fisherman at 3:00am Thursday (2000 GMT Wednesday) offshore, eight kilometres (five miles) south of the town of Pare Pare. "The search will now focus in the sea," said Bambang Karnohyudo, who heads the Indonesian Search and Rescue service.
  18. Yes, I do agreed, if the blue is brighter and darker it might be nicer compared to the light version they are using.

  20. Here's the official news annoucement http://www.airbus.com/en/presscentre/press...08_AirAsia.html 100 more A320s for AirAsia 8 January 2007 AirAsia, the region's largest low cost carrier, has placed a firm order for an additional 50 A320s, with a further 50 A320s on option. The contract was signed on the 8th of January 2007 by Tony Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia and John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer Customers of Airbus, and brings the AirAsia Group's (Malaysia AirAsia, Thai AirAsia and Indonesia AirAsia) total orders to 150 aircraft, plus 50 options and, in doing so, makes it one of Airbus' largest customers for the aircraft type. AirAsia placed its original order for 60 A320s in March 2005, with a re-order for an additional 40 aircraft announced at the Farnborough Airshow in July 2006. The airline currently operates a fleet of 15 A320s on a rapidly expanding domestic and regional network. The A320s are steadily replacing AirAsia's old generation Boeing 737 fleet and are destined to do the same at Thai AirAsia and Indonesia AirAsia in 2007 and 2008, respectively. AirAsia's Kuala Lumpur hub will be fully operated with A320s by July 2007. "We are very happy with the A320. The addition of the A320 to our fleet has helped AirAsia tremendously in our efforts to boost efficiency, enhance reliability, reduce costs and provide higher service levels for our guests (passengers). Our guests love the aircraft - leather seats, wider seat pitch and greater comfort. AirAsia just turned five in December 2006 and we have carried over 27 million guests to date. As we enter 'Chapter 2' of AirAsia the additional order will allow us to further strengthen our route network in the region by developing our hubs in Bangkok and Jakarta, connecting more points and expanding into Indo China, Indonesia, Southern China and India. AirAsia will become the second largest A320 operator in the world by year 2012," said Datuk Tony Fernandes. "AirAsia has proved to be an outstanding success in pioneering the low cost airline concept in the dynamic Asian market. We are delighted that a very large A320 fleet will play a critical role in the airline's long term growth plans. With its unbeatable economics and enormous passenger appeal, I am confident that the A320 is destined to take AirAsia to even greater heights in the future," said John Leahy.
  21. As a consumer, I want to see more competitions because I want to have more choices and better deals. Those who like to travel in style, frills, under company expenses will go for full service carriers like MH. For those who just want to fly from point A to point B with limited comfort and no frills with good savings on airfares will go for AK. Afterall there's a limit on how much a government can protect those GLC like MH because market has to be open.
  22. The special blue was quite a surprise though, something new from the usual chilli red http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5891701
