  1. That's my inclination as well. From 6 weekly flights to total suspension sounds a bit dodgy. Summer 2012 is the London Olympics and would think the traffic will be at peak. Bad day for consumers, and here we will have an MH monopoly on this route. They need to fill the A380, and here's how they'll do it
  2. It was also announced via their FB page. http://www.facebook.com/AirAsia
  3. The keyword is 'exploring'... LOL And they should really change the year in the footer. And how is that highly confidential when it ended up here? LOL Either way, please friggin join an Alliance!
  4. Thanks Azizul, but was looking around the website for the Terms and Conditions on the 15% online discount. On KF, I remember it was clearly laid out, so MAS should do the same. Anyway...sweet! Redeemed 2 tickets for BKK with 35,000 miles, with tax RM774 for a last minute trip! Enrich does actually reward, unlike KF which you probably won't get seats last minute like these! Hmmm MLE and LAX look tempting! Yeah, but you can just do a dummy booking and it will let you know the required airmiles, Best Deal is 85000 miles with AUD 754.62 tax.
  5. Oh wow! Thanks for this, easy 3000 Enrich miles! Btw, the 15% discount on redemption, how does that work? I'm trying to redeem for BKK and the Best Deal is 8750 miles, and just wondering, if that's after the 15% discount? I tried a dummy booking until the payment page, but at the end it doesn't really specify the actual miles.
  6. Personally, the Wau is a timeless icon, so I'm not sure changing it on a livery will be a good idea, UNLESS they decide to totally change their branding, ie change the Wau and reflect it everywhere as new brand identity. Otherwise it'll be rather messy.
  7. Got back from the MH office near Earls Court. Arrived there at about 10am, and only 1 counter was open and he was serving one customer. Took about 20 minutes waiting time till I got my turn. Then it took ANOTHER 20 minutes to get my ticket sorted. As with Azman, there was a lot of typing - is he rekeying in my flight data or what? And one more thing about upgrade from ex-LHR, effective 1st Nov, there Air Passenger Duty charges are now GBP170 for Business class (not sure what it was previously)! I had to fork out additional GBP85 for my seat (see below). So not worth it but since I was ALREADY there and had to ship loads back, I decided to just go for it. I would recommend upgrade ex-KUL as the taxes are the same for both classes. Economy Code Description Amount GB United Kingdom: Air Passengers Duty GBP 85.00 each UB United Kingdom: Passenger Service Charge GBP 22.97 each YQ Admin fee, Fuel (where applicable) and other surcharges GBP 70.20 each Business Code Description Amount GB United Kingdom: Air Passengers Duty GBP 170.00 each UB United Kingdom: Passenger Service Charge GBP 22.97 each YQ Admin fee, Fuel (where applicable) and other surcharges GBP 70.20 each Tragic!
  8. Another irritating thing when you call up the MH line is that you have to listen through the announcement of the aero train suspension. Given that you always get cut off halfway, or put on hold for 10 minutes, you usually need to call them back. And having to listen to the announcement over and over again before the main menu is really annoying.
  9. All these booking via ipad or whatever to me is just very gimmicky. For me, spend the money in PROPER upgrading of their legacy and IT system to be more efficient.
  10. Excellent, I love those double enrich miles promotions!
  11. This is really bleah, that's exactly what I have to do now, just called in to upgrad 1 way, got everything sorted and then was told that I have to go nearest MH office to get the ticket issued ASAP. WTF. With Krisflyer, all these were done online without the need of human interaction, even. I am fine to call up but to have to travel to the nearest MH office to get the ticket is really absurd. Luckily I stay in London, imagine if you were further away from the city!
  12. That's nice, I'm awaiting mine! Just got 17,065 miles to qualify. Jeez!
  13. Logged into my Enrich account after a flight into LHR, and saw 13k Enrich miles! Then I realised that they are having double miles promo...excellent! Check the newsletter for latest promo. MH needs to send these newsletter to my email!
  14. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone here has the Platinum card? From the list of benefits, it appears the same as the Gold card other than some extra insurance, so thought of checking to see if the Platinum card is worth the extra annual fees?
  15. Hehe, yeah, saw it on ebrowse yesterday, was surprised to see it appear. On second thought, it may not go down well with Malaysia Airlines ... the last thing they need is for it appear on the papers. But at least this will bring the issue up and ensure MH or the Schipol ground staff take extra precaution next time.
  16. Politically or not, it is STILL the responsibility of the pilot or pilots (whoever's in charge of looking to ensure the path is clear) to ensure the plane is taxi-ed properly, even though ground crew is at fault.
  17. I've checked with my pilot friend who does 747 and confirmed that it's a grave error from the FO, but having said that, due to snow, perhaps the lines are a bit unclear.
  18. My first flight with MH in a very very long time...and to sum it up, a bit underwhelming. Maybe it's the tired-looking plane, or perhaps it's the rather unfriendly stewardess who never mustered a smile. But I'm not sure if I will switch from SQ to MH despite the Enrich's recent 'enrichment'. THAT aside, this topic is to discuss the above. As we taxiing towards the gate, suddenly we just stopped and then after 20 minutes, everyone started to realise that the plane had struck something.
  19. Agreed, while there have been improvements, they are still not there yet, as a matter of fact...far from that of the level of efficiency of SQ and it's FFP KF. I have few friends who always had their miles not credited. Just wondering, if you purchase the ticket off their website, would you have this problem?
  20. You really have to hand it to Enrich for trying their best to improve their program. About 4-5 years ago, I started with Enrich but was so fed up with their system and operations, so I had switched to KF and have been flying loyally with SQ for 4 years now. Recently, a chain of events left me feeling that Enrich is doing their best to win back loyalty. I was at Silver tier but then was downgraded to Blue as I had failed to requalify. But out of the blue, a Silver card package was sent to me, with a letter informing me that that they had upgraded me back to Silver as a gesture of goodwill. On top of that, upon logging into my account, I found out that they had also credited some expired miles back to my account, citing "MH Goodwill Miles for Extend" (whatever that means). Wow, I thought, this Enrich is getting generous! And here's what seals the deal. Enrich also has a few very good promos that actually DO work. One of them was double miles will be awarded if travel is done during the promotion period. And then, the latest promo from them this month is 50% off redemption (https://filestore.xmr3.com/474290/14972874/shared/wor/Enrich_offers/005.jpg). I could fly to Langkawi for only 7500 miles + RM30 tax (return)! The best part about redemption is that I can now do online redemption booking! I only knew of this feature when I was exploring the Enrich Online section (This feature apparently has been online since 2009!). This has eliminated the need to call up the call centre to do booking. It's really easy to do, and I just booked KUL-AMS outbound on Economy and inbound on First for only 50,000 Enrich miles + RM962. How sweet is that?! Most importantly, there is seat availability for redemption. We earn loads of miles so that we can redeem free tickets with minimal tax charges. And I don't want to be planning ONE year ahead! So looking at all these positive movements, I have decided to dump SQ and KF altogether. Ever since KF Elite Gold is no longer allowed access into Virgin Clubhouse in LHR, I found the privileges of Elite Gold not that great. And with MH improving their online booking (I can even select fares with 125% Enrich miles), I'm sold! So cheers to Enrich!
  21. You mean you were only Enrich Blue and they had upgraded you to Enrich Gold immediately, upon entry into the GOM program? I think this is absolutely ridiculous, given that normal travelers have to accrue 50k miles before given the Gold Card. IMO, this makes the Enrich Gold card less exclusive.
  22. Just browsed through your blog, staunch support of MAS?
  23. I'm sorry but looking at the recent adverts from MAS really make me cringe. There isn't any consistency in their branding at all, one day they'll look like AirAsia, the next day they look like Burger King. I think it's important that they build up their image and drill it down to the consumers mind. For instance, AirAsia has got a really good strategy. The fonts they use in their adverts, websites, etc are all the same - consistent which builds a very coherent brand. People will be able to easily identify it - hence the value of their Brand. MAS is really pariah !
