  1. Flying at lower level requires longer distance and therefore more time and more fuel. Still, it's better to fly to please the passengers rather then cancelling the flights and stranding thousands of passengers.
  2. With all these new aircraft coming in, that could be the reason why the profit and revenue are plunging down? Too much cost?
  3. Well, just don't think this is right. Premium service must be remained all the time.
  4. No news from MH and D7 to cancel the flight to MEL and CHC? I'm travelling there by this end of Aug, hopefully the volcano ashes would leave those places some peace by then...
  5. EZE? I'm more concerned on AKL by MH and CHC by D7.
  6. Qantas has cancelled all its flights in and out of Melbourne, Australia, because of ash drifting over the Pacific Ocean from a volcano in Chile. Qantas had already cancelled flights to and from Tasmania and parts of New Zealand. Other airlines have also grounded flights in the region, stranding thousands of travellers. Australian airline Qantas said it was too dangerous to fly through the ash. The Puyehue-Cordon-Caulle volcano has been erupting for more than a week. Strong winds have carried the fine particles of ash from the volcano to southern New Zealand and Australia at between 6,000 and 10,600m (20,000 and 35,000ft). The particles have the potential to seriously damage jet engines. Ash cloud spreading Qantas said all its flights to and from Melbourne and Auckland, New Zealand, were being grounded from Sunday evening local time. All its flights in and out of Tasmania and the New Zealand cities of Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington have already been cancelled. Qantas said about 8,000 passengers would be affected by its cancellations. The volcanic ash is drifting at altitudes of up to 10,600m (35,000ft) Virgin Australia said it was cancelling 34 domestic flights and one international flight from Melbourne on Sunday. Budget carrier Jetstar has also cancelled flights within New Zealand and flights from New Zealand to Australia and from Tasmania to the rest of Australia. Passengers at Tasmania's Hobart airport told ABC news they might be stuck on the island for several days. Ferries from Tasmania to Australia's mainland are booked up for at least two days. Air New Zealand said it had not cancelled any flights, but was adjusting flight paths to steer aircraft below the ash. New Zealand's Civil Aviation Authority warned that the ash was expected to be detected at the cruising level of aircraft but had not yet been seen below 20,000ft. "Given that the volcanic activity is continuing, it is expected that New Zealand airspace may be affected by these plumes for at least a week," it said in a statement. The volcano has already caused severe disruption to flights in South America, with planes grounded for several days in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. It is the first serious eruption of the volcano chain since 1960, when the area was hit by a massive earthquake. Thousands of people are living in temporary shelters after being evacuated from the area around the volcano.
  7. Build LCCT here to attract more direct flights — Chamber Posted on June 12, 2011, Sunday KUCHING: Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) has called on the government to build a low cost carrier terminal (LCCT) here to pave the way for more direct flights. Comparing the situation here with Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, the chamber felt that tourism development here was way behind, citing the lack of an LCCT here as part of the reason. “With an LCCT, more direct flights can be established and subsequently boost tourism development and ensure economic progress. “Without such an airport, low-cost airlines will not be able to expand their routes both domestic and international,” said a resolution adopted during its annual general meeting at Wisma Chamber here yesterday. The chamber would write to Tourism Ministry, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd and AirAsia Berhad to voice its concern. Another resolution urged the government to reduce renewal premium for industrial land as members felt it would be fair for the government to do so following the announcement to reduce renewal premium for residential and agriculture land in May last year. “Reasonable review of the renewal rates for industrial land will help relieve the financial burden of industry players,” reasoned the resolution. The chamber has thus resolved to send a formal request to Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, Planning and Resource Management Ministry and Land and Survey Department. To help bridge the gap between the government and the corporate sector, a resolution requested the government to consider appointing representatives of the chamber as members of the board of various government agencies. “This is to make sure that opinions and needs of businessmen are effectively conveyed to address different issues,” it said, adding that a letter would be delivered to Taib and state secretary Datuk Amar Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani. In view of the global oil price hike, the chamber wanted the relevant authorities to ensure direct supply of natural gas in the state as a means to reduce operational costs of industry players. It pointed out that being a gas-producing state its corporate sector should get to enjoy natural gas at a reasonable price. “Natural gas is cheaper than petrol and more importantly, it helps bring down air pollution.” We have been through this, if this project is on, I think it's a waste of money. Do you really need a LCCT to attract airlines? Not unless you have the ambition to develop KCH has a regional hub, else, the reason an airlines serving a city is solely due to what the city can offer.
  8. If the report has been false or inaccurate, I seriously think that MH should defend it and say something, not just sit there and do nothing. We are talking about a company's reputation! I won't simply let an alleged report tarnish my company's image and reputation!
  9. MH shall restructure his routes in line with OneWorld Alliance, simply it can't just maintain the routes like existing without changes. It must change and enhance to fit into OneWorld and connect with all the OneWorld partners.
  10. I don't have the link. But I remember when I saw it in KLM website itself... Anyway, nevermind. Even it wasn't daily flight, it was a past and now it offers daily flight for greater connectivity then that's good.
  11. Probably not after they have switched from B747 to B777. But I did went to KLM site and checked once or twice, it wasn't daily flight though.
  12. Not quite, it's very volatile. I checked the schedule from now and then, sometimes 5 times weekly and sometimes 6 times weekly.
  13. KL doesn't even fly daily to KUL and if the tie is broken, this route could be severely jeopardised and affected, either frequency reduced tremendously or deploying smaller aircraft.
  14. Yeap, by city names still better than Teh Tarik, Roti Canai, Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rice, etc...
  15. Probably when QF & AF codeshare agreement ended, it shall be renewed with MH.
  16. I got strong feeling that BA will fly to KUL soon.
  17. Previously they named after all the B747 by Malaysian cities.
  18. Bad time for SIN, really haunted and cursed!
  19. Sounds like a big lose for AF now for QF is going to codeshare with MH soon, too.
  20. I was wondering if FY is ever going to fly to some regional routes in SEA that has been terminated by MH. FY doesn't have to repeat MH's route which shall be a redundancy. Perhaps like Chiang Mai? Hat Yai? Cebu? Shenzhen? Macau?
  21. Not unless LHR wants to sponsor the relocation of the lounge? Just like QF sponsoring MH? I think QF is up to something with MH? or do want to reposition themselves in KUL? I can't think of any other reason why QF sponsoring MH's joining to OneWorld.
  22. They might want to rethink to paint the first A380 with OneWorld.. haha... but anyhow it still needs to sync with the official date they joining OneWorld which shall be in late 2012. I think MH should be able to receive the first A380 by this year end?
  23. I actually think an airlines need to pay for your flight code to be displayed in the airport. It does show all the code shared flights in KUL but not in the domestic airports. Only certain flights but not all.
  24. The Borneo Post seems to make a lot of mistakes during the report, too. I ever emailed them once and they actually apologised to me...
